Andrew that is a very ingenious way of creating stairs to access the loft area in the shop! Have a great rest of your week. Am I the first to comment? I just might have beat the guys🤣
Not first 😉.... Take care
Woohoo...64K and climbing!!
👀👀
Nice design on the steps.
Thanks
Andrew, I am so impressed with all the knowledge you have. Their is nothing you can't do. Love the hanging of the U.S. Flag and another awesome video..
Thank you for watching
Well done
Thanks
Love the workflow camerawork - easy to watch!
Thank you for the feedback
Pretty dang cool stairs 👍
Thanks
Andrew those stairs are fantastic excellent idea. I would have never thought of that at all. Give it to you to figure that assembly out. 👍👍. 🌞🇨🇦
Thank you very much
Hi Andrew 🌞 Wow! The stairs are perfect and exactly what you needed. The idea of expanding this loft space is ideal. You can never have enough storage space. You have fantastic skills and everything you build adds value to your property. Well done 👍💫
Never enough storage
@@TKCL As long as it’s not hoarding storage😂
Nice work Andrew perfectly Don 👍👍
Thank you
Ingenious set of stairs. Your vision of a mezzanine is imaginative and will create an amazing amount of extra storage. It must be exciting for Tiffany to come home after work and see your handiwork.
She's getting really excited about the loft in the house.
@@TKCL I could see her excitement when you were talking about it in the live. Your home is so personally made for your needs. I absolutely love your outside space.
AWESOME!!!
Nicely built Andrew 👌 Quick and easy does it.
Thank you
Slicker than owl poop! Nice addition to the shop.
Well OK then 😂
The solution for my barn loft stairs! Thank You! I didn't want to do the thousand and one hinge job. This solution is perfect!
Exactly! Those look cool, but are not as solid/sturdy and use way too many components.
Love and respect the shop flag; great add. More people need to be patriotic.
Beautiful piece of land and a big building, what more could a man want! Well ok a refrigerator full of beer and that’s it!
Those stairs are fantastic. What a great way to add a fold away your stairs to your shop. Outstanding video and explanation.
Thank you very much
Like the stairs. Looks good. Excited to see up coming videos. Hope you have a wonderful evening. Love you guys
Thank you very much, have a great night!
Andrew gonna make me be his new neighbor with all these cool toys and ideas he keeps bringing to life.
nice Idea!
Thank you!
Those steps are awesome!!!!! I can't wait to see the rest of the shop build!!!!
Thank you
Hi, Andrew! I am getting caught up. It’s been a busy time here. It’s is an interesting video. Who would ever think to build stairs like these. How in the world did you ever have time to have a job. You never slow down. See you Sunday at 5:00.
Lol I have no idea how I accomplished things here when I was working 60-80 hours a week at the mill.
I’m beyond impressed. 😊
Never seen a stairway like that…Perfect! Really nice job on planning and securely building. Just be careful with no hand railings. Your future loft / mezzanine even more exciting and really good use of open area for storage. I’m looking forward to those projects.
Thank you for watching
Those steps will be awesome in your shop. Awesome video.
You did a great job!fantastic problem solver for yourself. I was thinking you could put a handrail on the outside of your steps, but they would have to fold out of the way.
Thank you for watching
As usual......you did a fabulous job!!
Thank you very much
Great idea I will be using this when I build my shop.
Thank you for watching
Nice!! Sound solid... 🙂
What a great idea. I have seen stairs like that.
Good job as always Andrew, love the big flag.Yes I would add at least one more hinge.
Thank you for watching
Love your out of the box thinking
Thank you
Nicely done!
Look good and looks solid!
Thank you
🇺🇸🇺🇸looks good up there Andrew. Nice stairs
Thank you again for the awesome gift!
Jake where in the heck did you find that flag???? It's awesome and one Heck of a flag 🤘🏽🇺🇸
@@5150cash Amazon of course!
@@jakemustian99 oh ok... LoL
We did one of these at our old office for loft storage. We did our hinges on the platform to float the stairs up in the air with a counterweight in a tube. The counterweight was a pain, hinging it against the wall would have been easier and provided almost as much space.
I had one at my old business too.
Great design!!!!
Thanks
Excellent project Andrew! Three concerns/suggestions... 1- Glad to hear you're considering adding more hinges. 3 might be good, 4 would be better. 2- If you haven't already done so, at the top of your stringers, cut off the upper tip of each stringer that's sticking up above the floor landing. (Trip hazard). 3- Add a handrailing on the wall 33 inches above the stringer height (or whatever height will still allow the stairs to fold up). You need a way to balance yourself going up/down with an armful of "stuff". A 2x4 ripped in half with half a dozen standoff blocks would be sufficient to hold on to. Safety 1st!!! Great build Andrew!!!
Great work Andrew. As a suggestion for the mega loft extension what about incorporating a lift (for boxes only). This could save you trips up and down the stairs with the heavy loads and should be a bit safer. The lift could be operated on a pully system powered by an electric winch.
Something to kick around for sure
Looks good:)
Nice Job!
Thank you
Building up for additional storage wise use of space and beneficial decluttering inside house, Christmas decor and Rugers toys.
Toys lol
Amazing
Very cool!!!! Cant wait to start watching the shop vids! You do great work and love the way you explain the what and why! Im looking to build a pole barn shop soon and cant wait to get some ideas from your channel!
Thank you for watching
Nice stairs and the flag looks awesome. You might want to consider putting handrail along the loft so you can't step off. If you need access for a lift you can build some of them to be removable.
That's coming in the future build.
Looks good 👍🏼🇺🇸
Thanks
Andrew, Another great video I don’t think there is anything you can’t build looks good and functional.
Thank you

Andrew please get a set of snappy bits. it's a drill bit with a built in countersink. You will not have that cracking on the wood if you pre drill with them.
Don't know why I've never grabbed a set.
@@TKCL get a set, you'll wonder why you haven't got a set even sooner
Very nice. Reminds me of Woby Designs, but his was less sturdy because it folded in on itself.
Yeah that's the tiktok craze one. Looks cool but isn't as strong. I need practical.
Nice stairway Andrew. What about some pallet racking on that back wall?
Lots of possibilities
I agree withJohn, put atleast 1 more board at the top of stairs on railings
👍🏻
I still beat Chris 🪤🧀
You got him!
Gouda for you!
@@shanefairfield938 LoL 😜
Well chris needs to Brie more prepared next time to have a Gouda chance of beating you cash
@@jakemustian99 ahahaha..... 😂😜
Should put a few more boards around the top where the railing is. Don't want to have some accident where you trip walking up and go through the giant gap falling to the floor. Other than that nice job.
Could even do a cross brace to strengthen it and block in that gap. 2 birds 1 stone
👍👍
Where do you get these ideas? They are unique and amazing! Great job!
Lol thanks
Nice ! Do you have a supply list and measurements and angle cuts ??
I don't, I'm bad about not having plans and just creating as I go.
I would have liked to see additional cross members on the guardrails to prevent falling thru. Say mid thigh and/or knee level.
I would put a couple more hinges. The more the merrier in my opinion. It’s cheap piece of mind.
I agree
Young man I believe that you're smarter than the average bear very nice stairs by the way
Lol thanks!
Ah I got it. You built them as the test for the ones in the house. And you was using the other loft to store a few leftovers so clean up and build a second set of stairs. 7inch be better for the house.
Definitely not a test lol. The ones inside will be of much better quality.
@@TKCL well I am thinking of an oak staircase with a 7 inch hight step by 11 deep. Then with the top landing built to bolt on with lag bolts and a top panel to hide the bolts. And then white wash the oak so you can put the similar color of stain as the floors with a railing made of black iron as to avoid the flow of the ininterupted view for the views of the sky and outside nature shots. And get a real computer to sit and edit your videos in minutes for rendering. Building your own PC using the best parts Intel CPU and an Nvidia 3060 video card and a few TB of super fast NVMe drives on ASUS Motherboard. Giving you more time for more content. Oh and 64 gigs of RAM.
A fast computer is definitely on my wish list. I need to streamline my editing.
@@TKCL well buy the best brands for support and since everything works on Intel but not on AMD be smart and build it right. If you wanna build it and save money just ask what parts to buy and I will set you up. Been building computers since 1989. And never had a bad news with the brands I use. Used to build 40 a week and caused 3 or 4 computer stores to go belly up. Saved the last one...
I see a box with a picture of pool stairs in the background. Is that a hint of things to come?
Next spring, we ordered a pool months ago and a bunch of accessories. The pool was canceled a week later by the company claiming to not have anymore for the rest of the year.
Where and what kind of handles are you using
Dude is there anything you can't do? Looks great!
Of course, but I'll try to figure it out.
Love this content, really gives me ideas and things to aspire to!
Any recommendations for projects for a young guy who is capable, but really hasn't had the opportunity to develop working with his hands? (I work with computers all day so don't have much 'building trades' experience)
Start with simple projects and work your way up. Chair, table, work bench, dog house are all good projects.
How high are the walls in your building? Love the stairs project!
Walls are 14 ft
You are gonna need more rails on that upper bannister.
Or course, more coming.
An electric lift would be nice to use to bring the storage items up, instead of carrying up the stairs
What size is your shop? I’m thinking about building one kinda like that.
30x50 with 14ft walls.
@@TKCL thanks that’s the perfect size for me
Hi, what did you paint the walls with :P
It's been years, I don't remember the paint color.
I'm interested on the type of paint, not color :) oil based or water based? acrylic or latex? I want to paint my shop walls which are covered with OSB. Do I need to sand them before?@@TKCL
@vajnavajnadental3102 I used a very thick quality all in one water based latex paint and primer. I did not sand before painting. Quality paint is key for good coverage and use a heavy knap roller.
did you us 2X10's or 2X12's
2x10s, works well. 2x12s will give you a wider and safer step.
Was Ruger attacking a bug or lizard or something while you were talking at the beginning? I have no idea what you said because he had my full attention
Lol he's OBSESSED with bugs!
I was watching when you walked up those new steps and nary a grunt did I see. Wanna thank you for putting up a US flag instead of a picture of Biden because I haven't long eaten.
Lol
What kind of wood?
Yellow pine
I tried with a 1.8mm pine 40cm large but it is too flexible. Why? @@TKCL
@@jfraptor that sounds too thin. Our lumber is 1 1/2 inches thick or 38mm
@@TKCL good so I have to change ... Urr. Thank you for everything
Dont know if been said but what happend to your previous dog
That's not my dog, that's my wife's. He's a inside AC baby 😂.
Awesome just was worried
Awesome videos from scotlandv
did you ou used to do construction work? you seem to know more than the average person about building stuff.
I've never worked in any construction trades or any line of work like that. I grew up relatively poor and we had to learn to fix and build things ourselves to save the money.
@@TKCL I wish I had half of your knowledge. very impressive
Dude that's smart as always, but for the first time out of all the videos you did not get that flag perfectly centered. Ocd overload.
Can't, work bench is in the way. I'm not tearing out my work area.
.
Perfect design for your space, very nice!
Maybe you do want to add a bit of that "Transformer" action for a folding handrail that is hinged upwards and collapses to lie flat,
ASIN. B08XJSRF6K
Just attach the short ends of the hinges to the top of the stair tread and the long end to the upright posts with a long 2x4 on top for a handrail, then insert a single removable cross member diagonally at the bottom between the first two upright posts to wedge it into the upright position.
Really aggravating I can't copy text on TH-cam comments 😡😡

Yeah, it only works on the Web-based desktop version, but unfortunately not on mobile.
