- One of Alan's least-flown models is this little UMX Radian, bought a few years ago. It probably has less than ten flights on the airframe, so I decided to give it a whirl. I'm glad I did as it's quite the little funster! Being a tiny thing, the glide ratio isn't up to much, but is better than all the other UMX models for obvious reasons. Still, it punches above its weight... as all the UMX range of models somehow manage to do. I like it.
What a fun and relaxing way to fly Gina. I really have an appreciation for the gliders now. They need a UMX Night version! Well flown as usual. I can't get over just how beautiful your place is. You and Alan are truly blessed!

Nice way to enjoy some laid back flying. Glad you had such pretty weather for it. ( I guess at this time of year you have to brave the cold to get in your flying fix. At least that's what I do on a day with really light wind! )

Hello James! I can really see the appeal all round; the aesthetics of a well designed model, the practicality to fly literally anywhere, and the performance of the UMX Radian tops it all off.

I bought the latest incarnation on the UMX Radian in spring this year to bring back to the UK Gina. I like it but then of course E-Flite released the UMX Conscendo recently so I had to pull the trigger on that to bring back next spring as I absolutely love the 1.5m Conscendo Evo. I saw in the comments below you saying you’d like to try something bigger. I’d highly recommend the 1.5m Conscendo Evo, I think it’s fantastic and fly it a lot..!! I also love my FMS 2.5m ASW-17 and my Arrows 2m SZD-54 but the Conscendo is my favorite and always the go to out of my gliders. Wondering if, and hoping it will, get an update in 2024 at some point.
Hi Howie! Looks like you have a fabulous glider hangar to go alongside your power models. I guess when you're over the pond you have some good soaring countryside? We moved from the flat Oxford marshes to the flat Norfolk Brecks, so no slope soaring for us 😆 And anything as fast as the Conscendo will be out of sight in a nanosecond on our little patch, unfortunately.
I do live in the mountains of SW Colorado but haven’t actually found a good spot for slope soaring yet. I think the gentle slopes of Dartmoor with the grassy landing areas where my base is in the UK are far more suited. Oh you have plenty of space at your field for a Conscendo trust me and the Conscendo flys very well at low speeds too. I reckon you get the UMX version first, then you won’t be able to resist the full size one..!!
Gina - ain't that a cute lill birdie - , I have her Bigger Sister, great - Are you using the CG from the manual - I did on the larger one, but it kept dropping the nose - ended up setting my own CG further back (when I remembered to set one) LOL..... flew much better for me... Nice day for it -
Hiya Martyn! Yes, she is a little honeypot for sure. With the battery as far forward as it can go, I still feel it could do with a blob more weight up front.
