This game was so well made that it still holds up.

Funny, but the game that was taken back to stores in 1982 was E.T. because kids didn't like falling in the pits.
It looks like a side-scroller like Jungle Hunt, but it's really an adventure game because you had to find the route to get all the treasures in 20 minutes. And maybe jump 29 scorpions or something.
It's too bad they didn't have an end-scene for when you win, like a helicopter picks him up.

@@sandal_thong8631 the frustration of getting out of the pits was why the ET was taken back to the stores

@@swk38 Agree. I heard there's a version where they fixed that online in the 2000s. I was able to work around it at age 12 at a friend's house, but it would definitely been too much for a 6 or 8 year old. They should have had an ad campaign selling the new system by saying "Pass your Atari 2600 to your little brother," and not release must-have arcade games like Pac-Man on that system. Short term thinking: they sold something like 5 million Atari 2600s in 1982-3, but helped cause a video game crash.
Last time I was able to win E.T. on the hard level 6 times in a row.
I think it should have been a bicycle chase game like _Paperboy (1985)_ which I bought at regular price for the Gameboy.

@@sandal_thong8631 1982 was a watershed year for the 2600 with all the 3rd party developers releasing a bunch of stinkers for the system, and the quality control was almost non existent, gameplay and graphics were dreadful and no real way to determine bad from good before purchase. the home computers were becoming affordable, VCR's and cable TV were as much responsible for the video game crash as anything

Out of every console I’d say Atari is the coziest for some reason

For the casual player it’s always easier to go left instead of right for several reasons which are obvious if one watches some game play. This game does indeed still hold up today. It would be neat if it had a continue feature on it like some games do.

Hey Noswear, I have a suggestion for a 2600 game. Yars’ revenge. Or secret quest, both are great.
