    I don't know what kind of hair I have, but I'll end up with a matted mess in 3-4 months. One month and a half is the longest I can keep my braids in.

      same i get an insanely itchy scalp if i don't wash and when i do wash with braids in its a matted mess from hell.

      As someone who has it for 2 months. I wash and bath with a bit of apple vinegar and regular hair soap. It is super easy and i love them ❤

    I know there's going to be someone say oh you're wasting your money but personally I know my hair and it cannot last more than like a month personally I like to be as cleanly as possible so I would usually take them off to three weeks to a month but if you know that your hair could uphold that long then I would suggest a month-and-a-half but two months is max

    I have been in box braids for nearly six months straight, (one week of no braids) and my hairbis loving it! I am DIY girl and a 4ab texture! Inwill be braided for as long as I want (no more than 2 years). I buzzed all bleached fun-colored hair off in mid-Dec 2017. I am now on my quest to grow out my luscious afro hair (low/med/high) to how ever long it wishes to grow! I even HENNA while box braided (YES HENNA) and my hairbis strong as EVER!!! Will remove no remove ALL braids no sooner than Sept 2019; but before, mid- Dec 2019!!!

    I think it depends on the braids. When I get the large box braids I have to take them down after two months. No way I can keep them in longer. The smaller braids last longer

    My first micro braids took out my edges and I am now beginning to see growth after years of trying to regrow them

  • @mandyads
    @mandyads 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    My curl pattern is 3c-4a with 4b at my crown (this was before I bleached my hair *sad face*). My strands are high porosity and thin, but medium coarseness (when it comes to density). My hair is bra-strap length. Braids done well would last me 3 months comfortably and it's not necessary to get my edges for hair health, only for looks. The maintenance I do on my braids is crazy though and not every scalp can handle it. I almost literally oil my scalp every night with a coconut oil, castor oil, tea tree oil mix... massaging very well. I literally get no build up because my scalp just drinks it up. I also sprayed my braids with moisturizing braid spray almost every night. Doing this keeps my braids looking very separated and sleek... and my scalp and new growth looks/feels amazing! I wash my braids every 2 weeks with a gentle cleanser (I prefer to mix a bit of tea tree oil in)... I think this frequent washing caused some of my braids in the back to slip because they are typically waist length. I'd recommend trying to wash only the scalp if possible and keeping the water from running down the braids. I would need to keep my braids done for at least 2 months to feel good about my wallet lol.

      Is there a certain type of hair you recommend? For having braids last? I’ve always used Kankelon because of the texture. I like the braids to last but also to look like natural hair... not too shiny or thin.

    I do my own braids and with the cost of hair it only costs me about $15. I make my own oils and moisturizers but I can only keep them in for 1 month 1.5 if Its a busy semester, my scalp doesn't allow any longer and my hair locks after the third wash. How can I make them last longer while avoiding having dreads lol

    I have 12 jumbo braids in that i did a month ago, ngl 😂 after 2 weeks my ass wanted to take em out cuz it irritates me that i didnt get as close to the root as i wanted on some of em (overcoming the perfectionist in me) but i got used to it, dont wanna be wasteful and even the other day my mom said they look good enough to keep in longer and didnt see how i wanted to take em out :) so imma do one more week.. (5 total) and since it was my first time doin these - i have a feeling next time i can get even closer/tighter w it, & therefore leave em in for 7 or 8 ! I got a lotta compliments in em too so lemme stop ✋🏻 stressin 😂

      * how do u keep the braids smelling good? I was my hair in braids and let it air dry.
      * what should u apply before putting ur hair in the silk cap at night ? honestly it depends on what style you have. Weave/ lace frontal, braides- nothing natural hair- growth oils etc.
