- Hey-hey!
This beginner After Effects tutorial will show you how to make rolling clouds of smoke, fog, dust, and so on without any plugins!
Here's the the link to the script for your looping path, since TH-cam doesn't like code syntax!

I can really appreciate a video that's right to the point. Thanks for keeping it simple, so easy to follow
if (numKeys >1 && time > key(numKeys).time){
t1 = key(1).time;
t2 = key(numKeys).time;
span = t2 - t1;
delta = time - t2;
seg = Math.floor(delta/span);
t = delta%span;
valueAtTime((seg%2) ? (t1 + t) : (t2 - t));
}else
value

Great video man....bit getting complicated in the last....
This is what I want when I search "tutorial". Thank you sir
excelente!
Hey, How would you go about looping that actual smoke itself? I have tried messing with some values but can't seem to get a perfect loop, many thanks.
look who earned a sub
awesome
Great tutorial. I have a small problem. If I have the shape layer visible on a long clip, it gets progressivly blury the further into the clip we get, until it just looks like a faint blur. I thought I may have added a keyfram by mistake, but no. Odd, can't figure it out.
Edit: Just realised that this isn't going to work in my old CS6, I think due to bugs. The more I adjust this the more it goes wrong and effects become frozen such as Turbulance Displace, no matter what I change. Shame.
Awesome. I will try to make a solar nebula with that.. Just don't know how to make a circular cloud.. .like disk shape
Amazing, could be possible to add a colour effect on top like the 4 -color gradient?
yesir thx
great tutorial clouds are super realistic, how do I make the fractal noise loop though?
Need to know as well, got any answer/solution by now? (:
Awesome! I wanna use this to do chalk effect then dust falls off while writing in blackboars
Could you please upload a tutorial on volumetric cloud!
That's a lot of work.
Hey, I like the video until I got to the end but I was still able to get the effect I wanted. Maybe I will try later. I love simple to learn videos. Thanks
Here's a slightly improved version of the code he gives at the end:
if (numKeys > 1 && time > key(numKeys).time) {
t1 = key(1).time;
t2 = key(numKeys).time;
span = t2 - t1;
delta = time - t2;
seg = Math.floor(delta / span);
t = delta % span;
(seg % 2) ? valueAtTime(t1 + t) : valueAtTime(t2 - t);
} else {
value;
}
How do I use the animation know? Ever time I try to apply the animation to a layer it just covers it completely ovelaping it so it loses all purpose of the ambiance if I can put it over the background
I think I know how to answer your question: Try changing the blending mode to screen, if you can't see blending modes, click the button on the bottom left until blending modes pop up. If that's not what you're after, try exporting RGB+ALPHA in your export settings. I think that option only comes up for AVI exports but I could be wrong, make sure to check! Hope that helped :)
this is sooo helpful..one question how do i make the clouds slower. mine are so speedy fast. it seems to be something in the fractal noise...? thank you..literally the best video on clouds FX in AE.
Hey there! You could slow down the fractal noise or turbulent displace animations by lowering the number you put in the [time*250,0] line. Trying changing 250 to 150.
@@momillmedia thank you I will try that next time!

it stops moving at 2:21 after i render it. am i missing something ?

This effect is not 3d
if(numKeys>1&&time>
key(numKeys).time){
t1=key(1).time;
t2=key(numKeys).time;
span=t2-t1;
seg=Math.floor(delta/span);
t=delta%span;
valueAtTime((seg%2)?(t1+t):(t2-t));
}else
