I wouldn’t call the Japanese Game Boy Color version a secret by any means as it’s pretty much like any other Game Boy game that received an official Color conversion like Link’s Awakening for example, only that one released worldwide of course.
I've had the reverse issue with Game & Watch Gallery 2: I bought it on the Japanese 3DS store, so it doesn't have the GBC enhancements. Aww! Gallery 3 was also unavailable for regular purchase there, so I visited the NA 3DS store instead.
@@DanceDanceNorth I always found the names of these games confusing in different regions. For example, Game & Watch Gallery 2 was called Game Boy Gallery 2, however, in Europe and Australia, there was a previous game in 1995 called Game Boy Gallery. While Europe decided to call the subsequent games "Game & Watch Gallery", Australia stuck with the "Game Boy Gallery" name, and therefore, Game & Watch Gallery 2 became Game Boy Gallery 3 in Australia.... not to be confused with Game Boy Gallery 3 in Japan, aka Game & Watch Gallery 3. In short: Game & Watch Gallery 1 - 3 in Europe/North America = Game Boy Gallery 1 - 3 in Japan = Game Boy Gallery 2 - 4 in Australia.
3:57 😁 All of these are nice reasons to play the GB version instead of the GBC-enhanced version. Nintendo did a lot of good with Donkey Kong on the Game Boy!
In fact, Dkland 2 and 3 are redux ports of de SNES country counterparts. The first DKL its a totally new game with new levels, zones, enemies, bosses and music
From the old manuals of Lands 2 & 3, like Land 1, they follow-up sequels to their country counterparts. Land 2 K. Rool brought Krem Island back to the surface but ravaged, why like Crocodile Cauldron & Krem Quay got fused as one map as Krem Cauldron. From Land 3 Dixie & Kiddy are in a contest against DK & Diddy to see who find the Lost World first through new parts of the Northern Kremisphere.
No. This is a fully colored specific Gameboy Color version, while the filter will only give you the basic color palettes that any non-color version have when played on a GBC.
Yay, no forced subtitles on this video! 😊 The cheats can be fine for children who struggle with the game. The card game and other demos look fun, so I plan to try them. For the other cheats, I'd prefer to play without them.
I actually found one secret thats not on here. I was just messing with the d-pad while the game was running, and i randomly got teleported to this screen with a smiling donkey kong background of the first level. Has anyone else gotten this, and if so, do you know the actual combination input to achieve it?
Wait this sounds wild! Can you give us more details? Did you do it on Switch? Which level were you in? Was the game paused? Anything else you can remember?
@@GameXplain i was playing on switch, and it was in the regular english version, not the one you showcased in your previous video. I believe i was on fireball frenzy. this was a little while back when i tried it
@@Simplesoupsimpsonsquidsquablin Thanks for the additional details! But I'm a bit confused, you said it was a little while back, but this just came to Switch 2 days ago?
GBC logos on boxes with a black banner in Japan are GBC exclusive. Grey banners mean they work on both GBC and GB. Oddly, Wario Land 2 you'd have to delete your entire save to play on one system or the other, which never made sense to me, as it's basically the same game on both systems, and you didn't have to do that for games like Link's Awakening DX or Game and Watch Gallery 2/3.
Always loved Rare's sense of humor in all their little references. Total Rekoil? With all the Terminator references throughout all their games, they sure love their Schwarzenegger classics.
let's hope some news about the rest of DK games:
- the GBA versions of DKC
- Donkey Kong (94)
- DK King of Swing
- Donkey Kong 64
- Diddy Kong Racing
I really hope DK64 is next
But we haven't gotten Donkey Kongs yet.
Rare not made them @@Aethelhart
If not DK64 YET then at LEAST give us the Gameboy Advance games, I ALWAYS wanted to play those versions.
Me too man, me too…
no

The patched rom is the answer anyway

Miller Instinct sounds like a Rare-themed light beer.
I'd try it lol
Kiddy kong should return, imagine how powerful he will be when he becomes an adult
That's basically who his big brother Chunky Kong is.
You’re killin it lately with the steady flow of good content! I feel like you’re better on your own. Nice work!
I didn't know about these cheat codes... you should make more videos like these with cheat codes for Gameboy games
DK Land 3 was such a good Game Boy game. It's not unforgivingly hard like many other platformers.

Nintendo did a lot of good with Donkey Kong on the Game Boy!
Loved the 3 sections in the video
There's also that David Wise made new songs for this game right?
So the "land" games are ports of the SNES games?
Nope! They're unique games with their own level designs
They're basically demakes

@@CobaltSnek whatever the manuals sez, both games are downgraded ports.
I believe you can also get color through the filter settings.

i just want double dash and kirby air ride on the switch 😭😭
Well too bad lol
Yo I know this is unrlevent but there are 3 new games on the genesis nso.
So there's no cheat for the bonus coins because you can do the bonus coin cheat in donkey kong country 3
Unfortunately not.
@GameXplain well the best thing is to go with the flow and try to get it all

So, did DKL3 in Japan work like Pokémon Yellow did over here, or is it a GBC only game?
GBC only, unfortunately. Even though it does nothing beyond what the normal game does, besides the color of course

Miller Instinct > Killer Instinct
Ford Knocks > Fort Knox
Total Rekoil > Total Recall (1990)
Ugly Ducting > Ugly Duckling
okkk
Don’t listen to him. He’s lying. Every single version of donkey Kong land 3 does have a colour version not just Japan
That just uses a default GBC palette and is much more limited than the actual GBC version
