I’m surprised! The PL-330 pills out the stations better. And I like the selectable filters. Thanks for posting

These newest model "Portables" are great. But, with shortwave, ANTENNA is everything! Get a wire at least 30-50 feet long and string it up! Preferably OUTSIDE! And you will be surprised at what there is to hear.
I'm a Licensed "Ham operator", so I listen to Amateur HF traffic all the time. Not too long ago, sensitive small Portable receivers like these would have been "Science Fiction"!

Thanks for your advice. Yes, the biggest problem now is the electromagnetic environment, so much interference near the grid. May I know which model is your transmitter?

My PL-660 is far more sensitive on shortwave than the PL-330 but it could be because of indoor interference and the radios having such different circuitry. I`m moving soon and will be able to do testing with outdoor antennas in an environment with much less interference from other electronics. The PL-330 does great connected to an external MW loop though and I think it will be great and a lot of fun to use with a proper external outdoor antenna.
I just received the Eton Elite Executive today because I wanted three radios with SSB and it`s an amazing performer. It appears to be much more sensitive than the 330 or 660 and I got it on sale for the same price as the 660. Eventually I`ll be able to test all three side by side outdoors and find out their true capabilities. Right now their differences are what`s great and they make a nice and very fun and useful team.

Thanks for your very detailed comment. Comparing with PL-330, the Eton Elite Executive has addtional analog filter on the SW signal input. Although they both use SI4735 chip, Eton has better SW performance, espacially when weak signal fluctualting. So in my oponion, for non-SSB shortwave, it would be PL660>Eton Elite Executive>PL330. For shortwave SSB, Eton Elite Executive should be the best among the three. Enjoy!

@@ewenyan5019 I love the non-muted tuning of the PL-660. It`s fun to use to quickly scan for active frequencies on the entire shortwave band. These radios are a nice team. I like to have backup SSB receivers. I bought the PL-330 for its ability to use external MW antennas. Then a few days ago I saw the Eton on sale, had heard great things about it, and decided to get it to complete my collection of SSB receivers.
I have its little brother the Eton Elite Traveler so I didn`t even need to open the User Manual to use its basic functions. I don`t regret buying any of these and am very excited to have the Eton now after using it yesterday. I wanted the 660 and the Eton for a long time and had no money. I used a very tiny Grundig G6 Aviator that overloaded severely on lower SSB bands and lost sensitivity on the higher bands and was deaf above 11 mhz. But wow is it sensitive on MW for such a tiny radio.
I had a very nice expensive Sangean shortwave receiver in the 1990s and now I finally have worthy replacements but I wish these had a gain control KNOB like my old one. It could be used with extremely long antennas and I could turn the gain all the way down where there was no background noise and the voices were very clear.

@@baneverything5580 Me too, like the old tuning feeling of non-mute, just like the old time. PL660 is very good choice, no matter the function or the performance. Thanks to Tecsun engineer, they design PL330 to support external antenna on WM. Sometime I found PL330 has better MW reception when switching to whip antenna if the receiving environment is good. PL330 also has some hidden feature while the instruction book didn’t mention.
G6 is also a very good radio regarding of the size, less radio like cc skywave SSB support so many features on the same size. Congratulation to you to have your favourite radio.

Yeah, I really enjoy my EEE, an excellent performer pretty much on all bands, my only complaint with it is not being able to use an external antenna for LW and MW (although I do have an AN-200 for MW, but it does nothing for LW).

@@madmax2069 If you have the space string out a very long wire and make a grounded inductive loop made by winding about 100 turns of 24 awg magnet wire on a vitamin bottle. It will resonate on both LW and MW.

The Pl330 is a very new model DSP receiver while the PL600 is a much older PLL receiver. I would hope that the Pl330 would be better on SSB than the PL600 which only has BFO tuning for SSB. The SSB on PL600 is not firmware derived. I have both, using the Pl600 for am SWL and the PL330 for Ute/Ham SSB listening. Your test didn't really prove anything as you compared an apple with an orange. A better comparison would be PL330/XHDATA D808 as both are DSP based.

I have both receivers. Comparing the PL600 to the much more recent Pl330 is comparing apples with oranges. My Pl600 , an excellent Rx, is used for Intl am SW B/Cs. My PL330, superb on SSB is used for Ham/Utility reception. Both are very good radios and meet all my needs.

Hi Ken, thanks for comment. No matter what technology the radio uses, analog IC, DSP, transistors or tube, as long as the purpose is receiving signal, there can be a comparison. I would say the analog PLL dual conversion PL600's Shortwave(no SSB) performance is better than pure DSP PL330, but for SSB, I agree with you, PL330 is better. Thanks.

My PL-600 catches the Air range, and yours? There is a video. Thanks for the comparison!I think the PL330 is better in terms of tuning accuracy...

Thank you for comment. This was bug for PL600 to display airband frequency, PL600 doesn't have relative hardware to support. So Tecsun fixed it in the later software version, my pl600 should be the later one.
