    Jina doesn't look too happy that people think she doesn't look Korean and almost offended when he said she looked Southeast Asian (Filipino or Mongolian). 🤔 I noticed that she's not as confident about her beauty, many times from other videos. I hope she realizes that she's pretty and not let Korea's standard of beauty dictate her confidence. As much as I enjoy Korean culture, I'm glad I didn't grow up in Korea!

    I think consideration should also be given to the fact Koreans, Japanese, and Chinese people can look very diverse. There is no one general "look" for each race, especially if you think about how closely situated the countries are to each other and how much of their histories overlap due, so there has been mixing of blood. There are ethnic Koreans that assimilated in Japan but due to anti-Korean sentiment during that historical era, some of them hid their ethnicities and passed as Japanese and married Japanese spouses. I saw a documentary about Korean comfort women who were left behind in China, and one of them was too ashamed to return to Korea so she made a new life in China and married into a Chinese family. She never told her daughters about her real identity and where she came from until they were adults.
    I've seen that those 23andMe DNA test reveals are popular on TH-cam. I find it a little weird that some people just assume they are 100% of their ethnicity because that's the culture and ethnicity they grew up with. Like, I understand why people have that opinion, but also, it's near impossible for someone to be genetically 100% of an ethnicity unless their ancestors for the last thousands of years all married within the same ethnic group with very little genetic diversity being introduced into the bloodline. And that is also impossible to calculate accurately because you never know for sure where the spouse's ancestry originates from. Genetic ancestry and cultural ancestry are not the same and don't always have to match.

    I actually taught a class to my Chinese students about beauty and fashion in modern China. The reason their style looks so Korean because in the 2010's China started adapting the Korean popular "ulzzang" look. Big eyes, bright dewy skin. Japan went i think more darker in makeup i think maybe because of strong western influences or work culture. I would guess work culture, because I generally know in business companies especially when wearing those bland colored suits they don't prefer you wear distracting makeup colors(bright red lips, bright red eye shadows with really white skin). However if you want to see more classical Chinese look before they adapted Korean style, you can look at some famous actresses from 2000's, search the 4 Dan actresses

One was often thought of as Malaysian by other Koreans because she had a darker complexion. She even struggled to fit in at times growing up there. Another was often mistake for Japanese. This just confused me even more on the physical appearances lol. However, I can tell when people are speaking Korean, Japanese and Mandrin or Cantonese to know where they're from 😁.

Some of these people (the first lady for sure) have so much plastic surgery they don't even really look human much less Korean, Chinese or Japanese. lol Question on that topic for you: Do you think that with all the plastic surgery going on in recent generations that some cultures are losing their natural cultural and ethnic features? I got like 90% of them right. Japanese have the most mixed features and diverse looks with very natural characteristics (often cute). Chinese (I think) prefer sharper features (angled, sharp cat eyes, sharp jaws and chins, often more sexy or mature), Korean prefer softer features with V-shape, bigger eyes that are almond-shaped or rounded, more feminine (mature yet some sweetness and cuteness).

    I think it's not ideal to make such presumptions using women with make up and also about famous persons as examples, since MANY of these have gone through plastic surgery. So they end up losing their ethnic features, end up being impossible to distinguish them.

    总结下:
    日本:女生比较喜欢棕色,发型喜欢斜刘海二分发,皮肤肤色上很多女生存在小麦色喜好。
    韩国:女生喜欢碎发过眼直刘海,另外流行长发微波浪发型,此外,韩国女生眉毛喜欢化一字眉(平眉)
    中国:中国女生有两种,一种喜欢着眼于唇色(如更加偏重的红唇),相对来说整体风格更加张扬性感;另外一种是甜美纯欲风,以伪素颜清新妆为主;

    Even when comparing Chinese and Korean athletes, Korean athletes tend to be a size larger. Korean athletes are more muscular than Chinese athletes. All Chinese athletes are thin.

Some of these were hard for me, but I got most of the Chinese and Japanese, but some that were Korean I guessed as Chinese due to the pointed chins. The same when that guy asked if the one girl had surgery. She was Korean, but had a more pointed chin than most Chinese women.

    I just could never guess what gal was from where. In this video they had gone by more than just facial appearance to figure out where these women were from though. It seemed that each woman's "style" had played a big part of it too. Be it makeup or hair, they HAD gone beyond just face shape or eye shape. BUT, I had seen another video where other Asians had guessed the country of origin of other Asians, and really, they had failed at guessing them all right. I would tell you exactly or close to the number they DID get right, BUT, very irritatingly, at the end of the video, they had shown the correct answers REALLY quickly rolling by. I could only determine that they had gotten some answers wrong.
    BUT, really after seeing the whole video of the 3 US born (no accent) Asians guessing what country some other asians were from, I REALLY wanted to see what the score was, and IF Asians who may have been born here COULD guess correctly as to what country another Asian was from, or even the country of origin another Asians parents were from. Basically, it seems that without any cues that show a certain "style" that would help determine what country another Asian is from, It seems like most Asians would NOT guess correctly as often. I used to think that Chinese people had rounder eyes than Japanese or Korean people, BUT, there are some famous Chinese Americans (Julie Chen is 1 of them) who had eye surgery to "fit in" and have rounder eyes. There was nothing wrong with her eyes as they were naturally, BUT, she had the surgery because she must have felt like she had to try and "fit in". But, anyway, it seems like asian people are diverse in appearance, so, really, without any "cues" to tell what area in asia any person is from, most other asians really can only guess.
    It must be like having a black person try and guess what country in African person is from. Also maybe having white europeans guess who is from what European country.

    The truth is no one can tell difference (because Korean, Japanese, China are all the same race) but we just say that we can. When people say they can tell, what they really mean is makeup and fashion and social ques. Based on those things you can tell, but if you were to remove all makeup and wet everyone's hair the same way, no one would be able to tell the difference.

    • @Anna08371
      @Anna08371 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean I can tell without the makeup ....😂 their facial structures are different and their eyes fall differently...also they ALL have different body structures unless they’re really mixed. My Korean fiancé can’t tell the difference.... but was shocked I could guess who was Vietnamese, Korean, and Chinese in our class, and in public. He would guess wrong and I would guess correctly everytime even tho I AM NOT ASIAN 🤣LOL .... I think you just have to be used to the diversity....Kinda like how there’s a lot of white people .... but they do have different features based on their family’s origins :)

    • @chiefjudge8456
      @chiefjudge8456 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Anna08371 There is no facial structure that only exists in just one of those countries. You are conflating race with nationality. They are of different nationalities (for example American, Australian, Canadian etc), but are of the same Mongoloid race, which is the scientific name for the race that westerners are referring to when they say east asian. There is no difference and you would not be able to tell in a proper blind experiment. Also I'm sorry that you're actually dating a Korean, sounds unsatisfying.
