      No. It's not rugged enough for that price. The light weight is great, but I'd prefer to have a heavier knife that I trusted more. I'm sure the blade is very good steel. The action appears fine. I can get a cheap knife that will do light weight jobs just as well as this Bugout, and apply the savings toward another tool. That plastic handle with no metal liner or metal frame relegates it to tasks that are less demanding. That's too much money for that level of usefulness.

    Just received a Bugout for my birthday as was a little worried after reading reviews in which people made the knife sound weak. After getting the knife in hand let me tell you any worry I had has been put to rest. The knife is solid as can be and your video further proves this point. If you are on the fence about this knife trust me it’s well worth it.

    Let's drive this Honda Civic over this pile of cinderblocks and see if it breaks... What you SHOULD expect from the 535 Bugout: a super lightweight tool that cuts efficiently, doesn't rust easily, and stays sharp a long time. What you SHOULD expect if you pry with a thin stainless steel knife blade: it will break. What you SHOULD expect if you beat a Bugout with a hammer: the edge will chip, and the liners will bend.

    • @RR9sf
      @RR9sf 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fr…People act like knife should be the only tool for everything. For an “EDC”, it has more durability than we would ever need. Everytime someone says that “a cheaper knife is a lot tougher than bugout,” I just tell them that an axe is even stronger than any knife, what’s their point?

    Yeah the lock bar on those axis locks are stout for sure but I’ve had omega springs break in both my mini grip and 940, and I certainly never beat it with a hammer lol. Benchmades would be worth it to me if the omega springs weren’t such an inherent design flaw in the long term. And if you plan on using a benchmade for fishing, you better keep those springs oiled on a regular basis! It sucks because the blades are great…

I had one spyderco para 3 with the s110v and not even a week I tried to use it to lightly pry on a vinyl fence cap and the tip snapped off a good heavy quarter of an inch, which shouldnt be all that abusive given how flexible vinyl is & the thickness of the vinyl which was maybe 1/8th inch

    I also watched Wranglerstar and other that made response videos to him but paid no mind to it. Now your video just showed us exactly what the Bugout can do. Of course you can break it, but to what extent are you willing to do to it. Thanks Zack and take care 👊👊👊

    I’m impressed! Lots of complaints about the bugout scales being too flexible. I’m very happy with mine. Will never put it through what you did to yours! It’s a great knife. Really dig the red scale version. What flavor rit dye did you use and how long did they soak? Thanks for the video!

    • @zachstuff
      @zachstuff  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching Scott! For the red I used Rit dye and the color is synthetic racing red. Once I had the water almost boiling I added half a bottle of color and it only took a minute to minute and a half to get this red color. I have a video on how I did the dye process!

      Zach’s Stuff Thank you for the reply Zach. I did watch your video and it was very informative. I really want to do this but am hesitant about it because Benchmade will void my warranty if I disassemble the knife.

    Is it hard/expensive to change the color of the handle?

    • @zachstuff
      @zachstuff  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I made a video using the tan scales Bugout. Used dye and some hot water. Just be careful taking it apart and know it will technically void the lifetime warranty.......but it’s fun!

    Benchmade Bugout. AKA: BM hatchet, BM staple-remover, BM screwdriver, BM prybar, BM bottle-opener, BM speed hump, BM Little Paratrooper toy (complete with undeployed parachute) & finally, Benchmade Bugout.

    • @zachstuff

      Probably soon depending on how many they ordered. They should already have their first batch in stock. I would email or call them for an exact update.

    Yikes that was tuff.. Especially the Bottle cap.... You're supposed to use the spine of the blade, get it under the brim of the cap and pop it off first try. Iv got a Kershaw Kuro (the orginal one) and itll take bottle caps off in seconds

    It looks like the glock of the knife world. I would use an Ontario knives RAT for those jobs as it is a little more chunky and about 3 times the weight. It did way better than I expected.
