This is a great video. Thanks for your explanation on what the current does after it passes through the locks and dam and as it flows down stream. I’m learning a lot on how to fish 🐠 the river watching your videos. Thanks so much.
Another nice video Lance. I went to Gutenberg Saturday but the rollers at the lock were open. I picked up one 13 1/2 inches and only saw two others caught like less than 10 inches. Everyone I talked with said it was no luck, one guy at boat ramp told me it has been slow all week. Water temp was 47f I think next time I see the rollers open I’m not even going to launch there, might just head to the next lock.
Great thing about fishing the current seams by dams is you’ll find just about everything hanging out on them. I fish them for wipers and smallies mainly, but it’s always a pleasant surprise to have a walleye on the other end. I need to start targeting them more!
Great video on breaking down the Miss System. On you future videos could you talk about what lures and presentations to use? I just fished the Fox in De Pere and developed a pattern using the surface breaks of slower moving water typically due to bottom composition changes. They were using it as a highway as I've noticed on my graphs those were the only areas I kept a majority of fish move in and out..
Thanks for the suggestion. There are a lot of little details one picks up on the more time spent on the water. Every place is different. Maybe you’ve watched it already but my previous video covers presentation better. th-cam.com/video/7PL_yD-Io6c/w-d-xo.html
In this video I was fishing out of my 14ft Lund v bottom. The interior of the boat was custom built by me. I’m now fishing from a different boat. The boat in this video is currently for sale.
Great video ! Where your fishing sure beats fighting the crowds. How deep were you fishing in the last part of the video? I could see a boat ramp in the background. Thanks for sharing Lance.
By the time MN opener rolls around this year you won’t be able to find a river walleye from shore all gonna be multiple weeks into post-spawn and in on the way to the summer holes
Another great instructional video!! For us with less river experience this is incredibly helpful!! You’ve inspired me to give the Mississippi a try.
Great to hear! It can be intimidating but a little knowledge ahead can go along ways.
Sharing your knowledge is very helpful, also shows you are not just bragging. Thank you for such precise information!
Thanks for the comment!

When you start breaking down the areas and realize how fish relate to the specific features it's eye opening.
fun to see how it's done out in the Midwest, especially the river fishing 🎣
River fishing is pretty unique on the Mississippi.

Thank you! The walleyes are likely in full blown spawning mode right now and will be tough to catch for a couple weeks.

The seams are fish magnets for all species.
I was wondering when ur hunting buddy was gonna do a fish video w u. Nice vid !
Thanks JD!
This is an awesome video!! You should take a trip to redwing tho!!
Thank you! I’ve considered it but have not made it up there.
Red Wing is where it’s at. I just drove by the boat ramp. At 6 am the ramp parking lot is full and the overflow is getting full also
@@asmythurst yes it’s been crazy this year

Excellent and informative video. Techniques that can be used in rivers around here. What boat are you fishing from in the video?

Thank you! We were casting into about 5 feet of water and bringing down into 20+. Most fish were hanging on the break from 10-20.
Also, what sized motor is on the boat?
30 hp Envirude
Nice vid. What fishing string were you using? Thumbs up!
The yellow line was 8 lb hi vis stren gold mono. The green line was 8 lb trilene mono.
@@AnglerX Thank you kindly. Keep the vid coming. Thumbs up!
3 weeks ago whities were killin down thr!
Nice! They are fun!
when was this video made bc were out here now and it’s really a slow big even one keeper walleye the past two days only fingerling size
This was one week ago. The fish are probably in spawn mode now and will be tough to catch for a couple weeks.
Is your boat anchored?
In a sense. I use “spot lock” on the trolling motor.

You are right! The early spring has got everything ahead of schedule, so
Corp of Engineers maps it every year by law
Intro is getting longer with all the good clips....
I like to throw in a little variety
