This is the best movie about filmmaking ever made. It's not arrogant or glamorized. It's just an honest and poignant (and also sharp and witty) detailing of the stress a director faces in having to pull together so many different elements into a finished product. It's a true masterpiece from arguably the greatest director in history.

I can’t understand what caused godard to have such a dislike for the film. He’s literally revered in the film as well.

I'd argue 8 1/2 is better at this and did it first

@@JakeSmith-rv1hm eh 8 1/2 is one of my favorite films, but your statement is disingenuous. 8 1/2 never really showed any of the filmmaking process and was more about the director's inner turmoil than any actual film being made. In fact, the majority of the film is spent in a "director's block" as he has no idea what kind of film he wants to make. Day for Night clearly isn't that and is going for something completely different.

@@ColombianThunder I agree with your analysis separating the two. It's just that I took the stance on what aspect of filmmaking was more interesting to me, the conceptual side of it vs the literal practical side of it.

8 1/2 and this film are similar but very different. They are both great works and we shouldn’t try to say which is better. 8 1/2 is transcendental and fantastical, and this film is just so relatable.

What's the music used for the outro?
