A good effect is to scour the surface along the grain with wire brush to reduce the soft fibres from hard growth, Stain then hit highs sport with whitewash.
Nice! Christmas is coming soon once again. Thank you for sharing.
You bet
I like to use 1 5/8” Forster bit
Those are beautiful. We have a coastal cottage theme in our house too. I’ve been thinking on how to make them myself before I saw this video. This was perfect! Thanks! 😄

Look good 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice simple project. Buthe second set didn't show much of a blueish colour on the video (before white-washing). Why?
Thanks, it was probably just the lighting and camera. They showed a good amount of blue in person.
What kind of attachment are you using on your drill press?
I forstner bit
What a great easy project! I wonder what the dark stained ones would look like if there was full whitewash coverage that was sanded off (not that you want to do more sanding! :) Very cool. Thank you!
I'll have to give that a try, what a great idea.
So, what is the vice you’re using on the drill press for these? The Forster bit, when piece is not clamped down, throws the piece off the table, even when sizing up to a bigger bit. I can’t get to the size hole I need. Thx!!!
I am using a drill press vice like this one for reference. You'll need to clamp the piece down before drilling it.

Do you have a link for the branding iron
Gear heart industries is the company that I used. I could be more happy with everything about them, service, quickness and quality products.
How far down does the hole go? I tried one yesterday & the glass votive didn't seem to fit right do I kept drilling...FAIL!
Hello, depends how deep you want the candle or glass votive to sit down into the hole. You can also try different size bits for different sized candles to suit what you have.
This is an old idea, they're supposed to have 4" round by 4" tall candles on top, color of your choice.... you cut the head off a small nail and pound it in the center of the tops to hold the candles.... they were stained in "Dark Walnut" and cleared back in the day..
What if we dont haceva drill press?? Lol
