Hard forking to increase the opcodes because that might be useful in some future defi use case is a bad idea. Hard forking should only be considered in existential scenarios, as doing so would have a massive negative impact on trust in Bitcoin's immutability. If this is possible with a soft fork, then it should only be considered after a long period of study into ways the changes might be used by the annoying wizard types to degrade the availability of the base layer or further blow up the UTXO set.
If we could get the Bitcoin Core devs to agree to incorporate (and default to enabled) some of the anti-spam configurations implemented by the Knots dev, I think that would go a long way toward trusting them to take the issue seriously after any future big changes. As it is, their current stance would be like rejecting the entire concept of email spam filters, because spam mail is a totally legit use that adheres to the email protocol..
agree. teams working hard on building ZK projects. What are your thoughts on Mercury, Ark and Botanix? I think Mercury and Botanix overlooked and undervaluated scaling attempts. As always great video review.
Ark seems very promising from both the tech side of things as well as the community momentum that seems to be forming behind it. I do agree Mercury and Botanix get overlooked. It’s just tough as there are so many now and seemingly more everyday - you have Spark now being proposed from the Lightspark team and the list goes on. Which is great to see all the experimentation but ultimately I think network effects will accrue to a handful. I’m going to try and do a “L2” video soon and go through different categories and examples.
What’s never going to happen exactly? Full-blown verification of zk proofs on Bitcoin via another soft fork? If so, I agree at the very least it will likely be a very long time before that happens. And maybe it never will. But as demonstrated in this video, you already have working ways of doing this optimistically which is not as good of a trust assumption but still evidence that it’s not only possible but is happening as we speak.
Thank you for your work 🎉
Excellent resume and knowledge sharing, very appreciated. Thank you.
Glad you found it helpful!
ZKr for Bitcoin is super exciting. Let's schedule a call I have tons of updates and someone I want to intro you to.

Very good points

Bitcoin etfs is the iPhone moment
ZK rollups is the App Store moment

I am not sure where it’s going. I just want Real Money. And anonymity. No gizmos.
real money are only gold and btc. Rest are credit card
Zk tech is well-aligned to privacy and anonymity
NO programming
Never gonna happen.
you are soo wrong
