Great content. Very well detailed. But there are a couple of red flags I would like to raise being an Actuarial analyst myself! The money isn't as great as people claim there to be. First, any person from a good Bschool or any other professional for that matter (CA, CFA, etc) earn similar numbers. Secondly, though it's subjective, but exams aren't that difficult as he claimed it to be. The process of clearing them is rather more difficult because you have to juggle between work and papers, which sometimes takes a toll. Nevertheless, the course is great for the kind of knowledge it contains. So if that's the purpose with which one wants to join, great choice! But take the salary numbers with a pinch of salt :)
Hello @Abhay sir. I wanted to ask how much time does it usually take to become an actuary after clearing 12th? Some say it is a very lengthy process and this makes me doubt whether it is worth it.
@@dontreadmyprofile7118 it really depends upon the person. As you know there are 13 papers, a person who is consistent can easily clear the first 7 in the 3 years of graduation. Post that it depends on the kind of company you join and the workload you have. Balancing papers with work is somewhat tricky. Although, I usually see all my peers who are consistent and determined to clear the papers asap, clear the rest of it within 2-3 years of work. Coming to whether it's worth it, it all depends on the kind of skills you want to attain. The salary numbers remain like with that of say top CAs and MBAs (with a few years here and there)
@@abhaylath5601 Bro how do you see the prospects of an Actuary working outside insurance. Like a combination of Eco(hons) from a mediocre college +CFA+Actuaries, would that anyway take someone to to the hardcore Quant Fin type roles ? ...
@@akashbhowmik7993 if you want to get into core finance jobs only, the better way to go about would be a cfa+mba. Actuaries have all the skill required for all fin jobs (even more so than CFAs actually) however the market in india isn't aware about actuarial skills and hence being an actuary it's difficult to get core fin jobs.
