When I was getting interested in boys, my mom always said, "Can you see him and his family sitting around the table with your family? Will he respect and care for your parents, aunts & uncles, grandparents? It worked. I've been married to a wonderful man for 47 years!

The most important advice I can give to Muslim parents is to rais your child with very strong self-confidence and they should always have friends like them with the same roles and cultural and with their American friends allows the to come home to your house and try to know their families too.
And when your son or daughter tells you a secret don’t judge them and you always say if I was you I will do this and that makes them trust you and be there for them they will always count on you. I raised three kids, I never told any of their secrets to their father they know right from wrong and they have to have conscious that God is there watching not me not dad.

I'm turning 20 in a couple of months and this is something that I've been thinking about more as i get older... there's no one in my family that around my age that i can talk to about these things and my close friends aren't muslim so its kind of hard for them to relate to the whole "dating for marraige" perspective. I have not the slightest clue about relationships or what to look for when getting into one and so listening to you guys has given me a better perspective about this. You girls are the older sisters that i don't have ... thanks so much for just being you... lots of love from South Africa 🇿🇦💖... (also loved the editing of the vlog 😂😘)

My husband and I have 4 girls ages 11,9,7,5 so in my opinion it starts at home life. Even if you aren’t talking about dating and boys you have to teach them about our faith. Now in days kids have bf/gf at like 5 in kindergarten. These kids out here are hyper sexual and the media isn’t helping that’s why it’s so important to make sure your household is the way you want your kids to grow up it doesn’t happen overnight it has to start from a very young age.

The sad thing is society ends up having more influence on children than parents, because they’re at school for 8 hours, on social media for like 3 hours and with their friends for the rest of the time theyre awake. So if they dont turn out how you planned, its probably not your fault

I grew up catholic with pretty much the same rules and expectations. My parents decided to rule with an iron fist and all it did was ruin our relationship for years and make me leave our church. I think if they had sat down and actually had a conversation with me things would have turned out very differently and I probably would have followed all the rules and expectations. When our religions were established everyone got married during those early years of puberty. Now we wait to finish our educations but it makes those teenage years hard. I wish my parents had been willing to listen to my struggles without getting angry or punishing me. I hope that you can do that for Alaina.

Highly recommend to get them started in a Quran programs and youth programs in the masjid. And last thing, don’t forget to always make duaa for them, ultimately that’s the most important thing.

Im not a parent but I think regarding Alaina and kids in general, if you explain the faith and answer their questions properly, for them dating won’t be a big deal, yeah they will have crushes but as Leena said, they won’t act on it and won’t feel left out that everyone else around them are in relationships. For bangladeshi households, they make you fear God and your family and then the kids are doing things behind their parents’ back and get into situations they shouldn’t be in.
For younger Muslims, It’s ok to date with the intention of marriage but while you find a potential partner, involve an adult you trust to know and give you halal advice. Some people will take advantage of you, be it boy or girl, and use and abuse you so becareful how you proceed

  • @Hayaaaasd
    @Hayaaaasd 2 ปีที่แล้ว +30

Thank you for speaking about this. I am a revert (of 9 years) and was raised to have morals and values of respecting myself, but not a religious home. This meant I was freely dating without a worry, and my family were always welcoming and accepting. As a muslim now, I want to raise my children similarly to me, because my parents were open with me and we had a mutual respect for one another, I never disrespected them or myself and only ever had one Partner (who i am now married to) however so many girls i know who grew up in muslim households rebelled due to overly strict rules with no explanation to their kids. My best friend is muslim and East African- she got pregnant out of wedlock and so many people i know have been through this too. Its hard- and its so nice having women who have clearly been raised to have morals which support our religion, but not strict where they need to rebel. Thank you for showing the world we can be Muslim, fun and free!! 🥰

Raising Alaina with a strong faith from a very young age will allow her to grow knowing that she doesn’t need a boyfriend/date to be satisfied, the love of Allah and the religion will surpass any boyfriend/dating thoughts. Women in Islam are honoured and respected, we don’t need a boyfriend to validate our existence. Proposal dating to know the guy should be around family members to make it halal. Anything oustide this boundary is against the teachings of Islam and it shouldn’t be taken lightheartedly.

I agree with this, as a practicing Catholic Christian we also have boundaries of no intimacy before marriage, and dating is ok in the sense that you can eat out in a restaurant and talk, but not more than that, there is wisdom in it as many women are heartbroken after giving themselves to their boyfriends who end up leaving

Like idk how I’m going to ever find someone that not only do I love/ feel attracted to but that also fits into my life and gets along with my family. Saw this today and love the podcast sit style. Also sweet with your sisters doing makeup. Lightens the topic of discussion, love amandas humor and seeing her personality a bit more through here💗💗💗 my parents were strict on my dating although for me there were other factors that were contrasting to dating.
Some guys in this generation ive spoken to are not serious , although they want to talk to females , they dont seem to comit. This is the few ive known or seen ; sadly even other couples or marraiges, islamic & none islamic. There are good potentials dont get me wrong. Its lovely to know there is still hope lol. Agreeable to factors like dont be too over baring , and waiting to get to know each other ! Thanks for a cool video xx

I would say this to my daughter.... "you a smart girl and you know what you need at this moment to reach your goals and to achieve more for yourself ,so ask yourself if having that extra person as more than a friend is going to benefit you in any way and if you think it's worth it to start dating now already ,while you have so much going on?"

This was soooo much fun!! I think dating is very important too. As a muslim girl it's hard to keep your boundaries if you love someone so much. That is why you should not have to date someone for like 5 years. As you guys said, one year is enough (if you have the chance to get engaged and get married until then) to get to know each other and see if that is the person you see yourself with the rest of your life.
I really liked the podcast style. The other style you were doing was also really fun to watch, but you guys already do vlogs on your own channels and show us your 'real' daily life. This way we could listen easier and also now your thoughts on different perspectives. Maybe you can choose a specific theme every video to talk about :)

I like this format! :) I enjoy the casual GRWM style lol. And I enjoy this topic! Although I definitely have a different opinion when it comes to dating as I have a different belief system (most of my family is Catholic, but was raised in a Baptist church/cult, then went to a Lutheran school for awhile, then just decided for myself that I don't care for most organized religion seeing how it affected my life, but I do appreciate the spiritual side of faith, & now I mainly prefer Shinto if I were to pick any religion to follow) I do agree that women as a whole definitely need to get to know their partner before they decide to be intimate bc intimacy does make your feelings grow for a person. So the dating phase is so important whether you're looking for marriage or a relationship, because you don't want to end up having feelings for someone who isn't good for you at the end of the day. IMO tho I do think intimacy is an important part in a relationship, as it would be a horrible situation for someone to get so emotionally invested in a person just to find out after marriage (if they choose to wait to be intimate till after marriage) that they are physically not compatible & hate being with their partner in that way. I know this will probably be an unpopular opinion among religious people, but I do think it's important for everyone to know what they like & don't like regardless, & able to find someone who suits all their needs. Like what you said too, know what you *don't* like is just as as important as knowing what you do like for a relationship! Sorry for the long post! X) Anyways, keep up the awesome content, love all you girls!!

I usually don’t comment what I think if it seems bad, but I would have liked Leena to speak more about her relationship with Omar. Loren and Amanda discuss how a person changes so much after high school; I would have liked to hear the input from Leenas perspective of finding your person at such a young age. I enjoyed the whole video, but just wanted to put that out there. I feel like others would have appreciated that perspective as well as Loren and Amanda’s. All the love 🤍🤍

@@SamirSiraj8542 sister, I am not dating. This term was used loosely in the video. I also don't believe in marrying without seeing them/after a few questions (as I know its a common practice with some cultures lol) thank you for trying to advise/help. Have a great day.

    • @SamirSiraj8542

@@esmeraldamontes1113 well, meeting opposite is also haram. But you can meet the said person you are to marry with presence of your wali. That's permissible but you can't meet a non mahram man alone. Mahram man are you dad, uncle, brother, husband, grandpa (probably cousin too idk) and non mahram are everyone else. But with you wali, you can have as many and as long talk as you want with the man you are to marry or you have a proposal from. May Allah SWT keep you steadfast in deen and give you a good and pious spouse.
