Lets be clear! Abraham blocked Pulisic from the getting the ball in the first penalty shot, and gave the ball directly to Theo and pushed Pulisic away. Happened again with Tomori and Abraham with Theo watching, but looking away as this went down. All three of these guys should be benched for at least 1 game and Theo shouldn't be the captain any longer. His head hasn't been right all season long. I really think he was looking for a move this summer and it didn't work out like he wanted. His ego is unchecked.

I think there are 3 guys who should be captain at Milan, my first choice is Morata. His career and seniority warrants it even if he hasn't been at Milan long. Then Gabbia, and 3rd is Calabria both because those guys are italian and can speak to the refs more effectively and they seem like solid guys. Pulisic is next for me. His play has been that good for 2 years now under 2 different managers. He has a Champions League under his belt and played under all sorts of managers. If he was given the band I think he would become more outspoken. Now, he's still youngish..so I think his captaining days will be in 2 or 3 years.

It is why Tomori and Abraham treat him that way. Both these guys are also being watched by England. So, they have to clock in as many free kicks and penalties. One of the PKs was before halftime, the other was after halftime. DURING HALFTIME, Fonseca could have instructed all of his players that Pulisic should be on PKs. The fact that he didn't use that break wisely is his fault.

the elephant in the room is that there is a certain kind of anti-Americanism in European football and he's not very much respected. It's like a totally different mantra as compared to his clear leadership role on the USMNT. So, it's going to take a really strong character in that locker room to become wingman for Pulisic. I think this kind of thing points to a sizeable division in the locker room. I get this weird sense that it's quite fractious and the causes of it are selfish in nature. Pulisic handled it like an ultimate pro. You handle that in the locker room, and he took it for the team.

Having coached youth soccer, I feel like I've seen this before. Yes, the parents were often less realistic and more selfish than their kids. In this situation, each player had their reasons (certainly Tammy Abraham has been struggling to score and that is an awful headspace for a striker). They may have been selfish or to caught up in their desire to get the score. But too much of that can be a bad thing, not just for the coach but for the team. I have seen teams that improved by getting rid of their best player because that player was too selfish and self-centered for the team concept. AC Milan needs to put this behind them, get Rafael Leao going, and get back to being the team they can be. If that does not work, more than the coach may need to go.

Theo wears the captaincy because he sells shirts, not because he is a "good leader". We've seen his immaturity in the last world cup when he gave away a childish penalty. He has a narcissistic passive-aggressive style and he dives too much. I am glad he got a 2 game suspension for his silly red card. I would like to see him sit a few more and then moved at the transfer window. He's got $5,000,000 boots but a $0.05 head. Pioli deserves alot of credit for getting this team to 2nd place and a scudetto and he should still be there.

It's obvious that Fonseca has lost respect from what are supposed to be three of his top, veteran players. The captain, of all players totally ignoring his coach's directive is very telling. I think it's because of European provincialism and the Euro players' superiority complex and disrespect of American players in general, and of Pulisic in particular...even those players on his own team. It would seem that they'd rather lose than win if it means it takes an American's success to facilitate the win. Fonseca needs to send a strong message to Hernandez, Abraham, and Tomori by benching them...period. What's even more galling is that those three players have been woefully underperforming this season. The one player who has saved the club's butts is the one player they shunned! That speaks volumes for the attitudes of these "star" players.

I think the key here is that the players who snubbed him, as i understand it, were former chelsea teammates (which means they came from the same culture that snubbed pulisic during those years of "paying his dues" or just professional purgatory in a lead up year to world cup play. either way, it's like a flashback from that culture of medicrity in coaching that trickled down to players. AC Milan has been a place for his to grow finally. Don't let the chelsea culture carry over. it was a mediocre track, don't let them drag AC Milan back down that road.
by the same token, is Pulisic the Harry Kane of Milan? Premature to go that far. Which is just to say, the coach should not put the pressure on him by declaring him the PK taker.
Just a comedy of errors preempted by mediocre (in the Post Mourinho era) Chelsea players. Best thing to do is move along like it didn't happen and let Puli keep rolling.
