I remember meeting Jeff and getting his autograph, then later running into him again in a hotel hall and calling me by my name. Such a nice guy.
I was in one of the humiliation seats of one of his shows, and he noticed me and I became a bit of a joke since I was pretty young, and the jokes were kind of inappropriate. He is amazing!
Edit: Sheeesh, I forgot how I phrased this.
I was like 10 when I went, and the material was more for adults. The two made jokes that a 10 year old was hearing it. None of the jokes were Weird. I did not mean to paint Jeff like that.
@Samuel Schiffbauer He and dad were buddies for a couple decades. They met several times during ventriloquist conventions and my dad brought me to one of them and that’s how I met him. :) He also signed Peanut, Walter and Achmed’s name on the autograph too!
@Samuel Schiffbauer Walter and Bubba J mentioned me, but Jeff was the one who “made fun” of me.
There were some pretty dirty jokes in the show, and at some point Jeff said, “I feel like (My name)’s parents are doing a lot of explaining to her right now”
When I met him he was so nice and you would never expect him to be the type of person to make such inappropriate jokes. It may have been because I was a child though. I also remember running into him in the hallway of the hotel I was staying in (that he happened to be staying at too) and he said “Hey OP!” which caught me by surprise cause I didn’t notice him at first. He was with a few people but I don’t remember who they were or what they looked like.
Wow! So cool!!
He's so damn good I sometimes forget they are not actually alive.
Me, too!
U should watch the clip of his family on FAMILY FUED. Steven Harvey said the samething
I think they all are alive. Maybe Jefffa has multiple personality disorder. LOL
What Do you mean?
Same
Abbott and Costello are applauding in heaven. Priceless skit!!!
YES!!!
I remember having a really confusing session with my therapist (very long story ...), to the point my already severe anxiety went up into the stratosphere.
And the end of it, she told me to go straight home, and look up "Whose on First" by Abbot and Costello.
I sent a text message to her work phone, apologising for being a mess, and how much it made me laugh until my ribs hurt, especially as I was being an utter dumbarse (am a Brit, that's how we spell it ...).
Next session was a vastly more relaxed affair, and having had the time to think, and to tackle the anxiety first, we got to what was going on that made me as bad as I was ... she even gave me an extra ten minutes ...
So, as a modern re-telling of that Classic skit, it's brilliant ... it's bitter-sweet for me, because of that emotional hectic session, half of which I don't think I was 'present' in (Complex PTSD sometimes causes a person like me to go emotionally 'absent', worse if it's in the middle of a flashback ...) ...
... but, at the same time, it reminds me that I can laugh at myself, which, given everything that happened in my, and my younger sisters life, still being able to laugh at one's self, despite the depth of trauma, makes it hurt that little bit less ...
I agree - a great homage, very well done.
