Pooka 'Possum's Memorial Video

- We are all still reeling from the sudden loss of education ambassador Pooka 'Possum, who was so young, vibrant, inquisitive, lively and healthy... until she suddenly suffered nerve damage and paralysis related to a birth defect. Her rapid decline and death came as a huge and terrible shock, as she was just over one year old. Here is my memorial video, capturing moments of her joyous, playful but all- too- short time in this life. She will be missed for her adorable antics and impish nature as well as her sociable & engaging public personality! She changed so many hearts and minds as she taught people to love and respect opossums and other wild animals. She will be missed by people around the world, literally... and most of all by me.

I like possums. Because of our very old houae, 3 young possums found their way to the catfood and water, several years ago. The cats let them be, and the possums were fine with that. They moved on, with time. Possums just want shelter from the cold, food and water. They don't want to fight, and will avoid a fight, if possible. That is why i like them. Also, they will not chew up your house, or breed like crazy, like mice or rats. They are amazing creatures.
I'm sorry for your loss, she seemed like a good opossum and was cute. I just lost my opossum too. He wasn't really mine but lived in a tree in my yard and I would talk to him and feed him. I came home from work one night and found him in the road about a foot from my yard, he almost made it home.

so sorry for your loss. Pooka is such a pretty lil possum. I have 3 little possums in my backyard. Their mon only comes every 2 weeks to check up on them :( I think she wants them to be independent. The world must be a scary place for them so Im leaving them fresh water and a possum mix in case they cant find enough food. thanks for your kindness and one day you will see Pooka again :D
Opossums are solitary animals and walk hundreds of miles during their short lives. You’re describing an unusual situation.
@@azkid883 I don't think it is. It depends on the age of the opossums. when they are really young, the mother still calls for them like I would hear her calling for them. not a mating call it's different. but yes when they get a bit older they are solitary
it is unfortunate that the possum died , I'm always waiting for new videos from him..((((

A very touching and emotional tribute for a beloved possum...Pooka! So sorry to hear of her passing. Ours are Pookie & Pepper whom are still very much with us, living indoors and, hopefully, for a long time to come. Watching your video makes us feel even more appreciative of having them in our lives.
I've cared for 2 opossums. There is something about these creatures difficult to understand until you spend time w one. Suffice it to say, even best case scenario, their lives are short, but the imprint is disproportionately deep. To make a memorial video for an opossum that was only in your life for a year... I totally get it. I've lost people and animals but there's not a time I can't think of my first possum lucky and feel that he just passed away yesterday despite it being years now💙

I just found a young possum with a hurt left arm. I been taking care of him for couple days now. We have no rescue center close and the animal control says if it is hurt or sick, they will put it down. So.... I don't want to tame him just nurse him back to health. He seems to be getting better. It is easy to get attached to them. This one is a little black possum, really cute. I am sorry you lost Pooka. I actually enjoy this one's company.

What happened to you and your channel? It is such a beautiful channel with a great philosophy and subject matter. As a giant nature lover and temporary owner of a rescued opossum, it is a pleasure watching Pooka (RIP) and others here. Also loved that intro video where you talk about what nature means to you. I agree. So crank out some more content!

Thanks, Krista, for this colorful tribute with great music to accompany. 'Lil Pooka "is with the angels". They can stir the deepest in us to appreciate humbleness in living. I've sometimes thought that opossums just ambled through life spilling out love, difficult as the going might be.
