Sounded ok at idle but revs give away true identify. Probably very obnoxious to be behind on the road. With all the money put into it, could have a v8
The high rev sounds like a V6. It’s mostly when idling it has a V8 sound only.

I wasn't a v6 fan until I got my v6 Camaro. The v6 Camaro is fast, but what makes the car is the total package. They're light, powerful, and handle like they're on rails. They're a lot of fun to drive.

V6 Camaros arent fast, they are not light by any means, and they handle ok for a 4200lbs car..

Like most V6’s that have stuff done to them, sound changes drastically at high revs. That’s what gives it away that it’s a V6... no shaming though, sounds great, and plus I drive a V6 so I can’t say too much 😂

I think you have the best of both worlds with these type of cars.
Start up and idle sound really nice and low. Then it really screams through the rpms when you step on it.

I've got a non-cammed 5th gen SS. Used to have a 5th gen V6.
I'm impressed with this build. It still sounds like a V6 when revving, but the idle was surprising. Very cool car. My compliments to the owner!

Yes absolutely. At idle the 6 sounds amazing cammed imo. Nice lope to it. However when it revs up is when you hear the 6 tendencies.

I admire the V6 guys. Anyone can make power from a ls/lt, Coyote, or Hemi V8 platform. We have built a couple different V6 powered vehicles out of my shop. A few dodges, 2 GMs, and 1 Ford. They all are unique in their own way. I’ve personally tuned bunches of V6 stuff. Definitely different. Most the guys in here will probably hate on the V6 guys, when the V6 guys probably have just as much money in their vehicle as the V8 guys if not more. I know my buddy Dalton’s V6 Camaro has put plenty of V8 guys in their places on the street. Any engine can make power if you put the right stuff / package together. For me, I’ll stick with my Hemi. I didn't even know there was any aftermarket support for that V6 as far as cams go. That would make getting the supercharger kit a little more impressive. Only real issue then is keeping the trans together. There's hardly ever enough support for automatic trans for the smaller economical transmissions.

I disagree. That doesn't sound like a V8. That's just how too much overlap sounds. Chopped idle. That's a v6 sound through and through. Good/bad depending on who you ask.

@@quincywall121 Agreed, heard an S550 the other day that was super loud but was raspy and didn't really sound good. Really depends on the set up though, most Coyotes sound pretty good, but I personally love the older 4.6 2v's even though they're not on the same level of performance.
It is nice to see mods for a V6. But it does sound like a 6 to me. But I know the difference. Just wondering what the numbers are. It would make since to record stock then record after big upgrades. It would help to broaden the horizons of the haters. Way back when I wanted to build a 4.3 twin turbo 3rd gen fbody. The same power plant that is in the Typhoon. I'd be putting down V8s all day everyday. Or a 2.8 3rd gen. They ran those on dirt track. So cams were produced. But I'll stay with my V8s for the time being.

Last year I did a deal with a local guy, where he traded me an 91 Camaro base model ( in near mint condition) to paint his truck. The 3.1 v6 was a turd when new and a few decades hadn’t helped so I did what any normal person would do and bolted the turbo from a Saab to it, threw some Ls1 injectors at it, plugged in the chip emulator and made all of 264 raging horsepower.... for about a minute and then it blew up😂. Now I’m in the process of installing a turbo 4 from a Saturn Skye Redline just to be different and to collect hate filled comments
Cams are an expansive mod but man the sound they make is 100% worth every penny. I wish my coyote could get the lump like that.
It definitely is expensive but the sound they create and the feeling they create is unlike any other.

It still sounds a little like a v6, but it still sounds pretty agressive for a v6, so that might be the most badass v6 ive seen.
I have the 6th gen RS V6 and Chevy was able to crank out more power and better gas mileage for the new gen but thanks to that there’s not many mods for it, can’t even install headers... such a shame.
Yeah it sucks they took away the ability to do headers on the v6's back in 2012
I find that camming a v6 makes it alot more enjoyable to drive with as it’s got the lower note then most v6’s which sound like a beehive, obviously it’s no v8 and never will sound like one but it’s just nice having a nicer sounding v6 to enjoy

I used to run the factory V6 3.8l on mi 1977 Oldsmobile with no exhaust one time and it sounded like a V8 too no mods, I swapped a 403 6.6l V8 Olds in it after the V6 camshaft bearings broke but it did sounded Badass

I had a 2020 Camaro 1LT V6 6 speed. I loved the V6. I loved the handling when I added the Bilstein B-14 Nordschliffe sport suspension and BMR sway bar end links. I could toss it down seriously curvy country roads and it just "handled it" with ease.
I supercharged it with the Edelbrock E-Force Supercharger but nobody could tune it right. I traded it for a 2018 SS with only 12k. But I miss the visceral sound of the V6 at 6500 rpm. My V8 doesn't even come close to the "fun to drive" quotient 😢.

In my opinion, v6s can DEFINITELY sound amazing at idle or low rpm, but at high rpm they typically don’t sound very good. Where as v8s ALWAYS sound good. Same goes for the Chrysler 3.6 v6 in my opinion.

I don't understand why people hate V6s so much? With the money I saved on my V6 between less purchasing cost, less mantainince and the big one- less insurance cost; I can make my V6 faster than a V8 of the same price. Now yea if you're mister money bags, you can make your V8 faster than any V6, but 95% of us out there aren't mister money bags lol
Btw you can turbo a V6 for less than 3k and then it'll truly be faster than really any N/A v8. My mods I've done over time: K&N cold air intake, Magna flow exhaust, jackfab ported throttle body and intake manifold, last but not least- Cadillac vsport twin turbo setup (super easy swap I did it in a single day with a friend). All a grand total of about 5k buying all lightly used parts and doing everything by myself besides the tune. Haven't met a none super or turbo charged V8 who can beat me.
Planning on my LFX police impala doing something similar.. want quad tips and getting a tune and designing a full cold air intake.. I like the sound. That’s clean. My GS 300 straight stainless to a apexi …. Sick Supra -turbo sound. Now …. Impala stuff. Much love 💪🍺🤙🇺🇸

I really wish people would actually know something about cars before being "car people". The v6 is dual overhead cam. The coyote is dual overhead cam. There are 2 cams in each head. You dont typically need a stall converter to run a cam. Its dependent on how big the cam is.
