Yes 8 years ago, I still own the Jackson II, it's been sat in it's box pretty much since this video. The Jackson II was launched about 18 years ago .Mine is a late black fronted "Classic", I have read some reports of silver fronted Classics as not working well on SSB. This video was filmed when I had some PLT noise issues but as you can hear it works well on SSB IMO.I like them, they are retro and no longer produced, so if you find a really nice Mint one, worth buying, just have a listen if you can prior to purchase I say.
Hi Dave.....another good video matey, just bought a mk1 but would like a mk2 for the collection. I'm fond of the illuminated fascia on the mk2. Good channel as always...Gary
Hi mate, i'm thinking of buying one of these albeit the chrome edition. They are quite expensive but I do like the build quality of President. Failing that, what analogue "needle type" CB would you recommend? Loz
I have an old dead cartridge hand mic. Um thinking that it would be fun to wire the PTT wires to a code key, and mic wires to a code practice oscillator. Send Morse code over CB, and see if any hams are copying? I wonder what CBers might do? Don
Great vid Dave! Who is the dodgy fella ya talking to! Sending mine off for a tune up next week as i've messaged the TM1 resident rig doctor! Shame i couldn't have used it last night....:-(
Rx sounds ok Dave. But the S-Meter hardly moves on SSB mode while AM/FM the needle moves to 9. Same issues like the first Jackson 2? Same as the ASC issue in FM mode where RX breaks with more than 2 khz deviation. Tnx for the video!
I noted the same,I'll have a look and see if I can increase the SSB swing, do you have any thoughts on doing this and a method. Thanks for the comments
It is indeed Delboy, been critcal it could do with the AM and SSB drive turning up slightly. I'll have it on my test set soon. It is typical Uniden build quality and a radio I like for sure. Ideal for the ever increasing Net frequencies on the CEPT band.
I don't get your comment, CB Radio is an unlicenced service in the United Kingdom and with radios such as the one shown legal to use on AM,FM and SSB on the CEPT band now.
It’s been a while since you had the radio Dave , I’m looking at buying from someone .. for the looks to be honest , would you recommend ?
