    Eric Cogorno's partner in instruction, Erika Larkin, is one of the best kept secrets in golf instruction. Her demonstration of the weight shift is what every instructor tries to hammer into their student. And fails miserably!! Her drill of the golfer loading up like a basebal player is a triple Aha moment. It shows the player how to load fully and to get into the left side with no extra complicated thoughts. Its amazing how complex this movement is in the concept of a normal swing. How to get into these diagrammed locations. This baseball analogy is liquid gold. Larkin is the queen of simplicity. Something rately seen in golf instruction. Kudos to both of these wonderful teachers on this refreshing format.

      One extra comment, this is the best video I've seen yet on how to swing a golf club. SIMPLY!! Keep sending more as often impossible.

    Great assistance to what has been to me an age old problem, thank you! At least i can try some of this in the garden before I go to the range. A really very good video and could be a lightbulb moment for me! I'm nearly 75 and now getting back into golf after 25 years off - eventually had quadruple bypass 2019 and just last year a broken right ankle so my journey is "difficult" but I am determined! Thanks once again, John, near Brighton UK🙂

    GREAT VIDEO….Erica, male, female or Martian, you are in my opinion the best teacher on the internet….i have always been an Ernest Jones fan, and now I have a nerve injury in my rt foot, so it really works for me. You took Ernest Jones book to the next level. This video really helped me, and after watching it last night, and working in my net for a while, I shot the best round I had in years.Thank you. Sam

    This is just great content, finally something that helps 🙂 I tried the "how to start your swing" exercises yesterday and put it to the test on the course. I got to tell you, man it felt good to play golf, so much fun and I felt so much more confident when approaching the ball. These videos with you and Erica is the best I've seen so far, so thank you very much for teaching us how to make this nerve-racking game not so nerve-racking 🙂

    Good explanation of the fall which I originally thought was only the lower body. But it’s the upper body in a closed position too. I missed that part before. Am going to go back to the PG True Swing lesson videos by Erika and look at that part more closely.

    Excellent n simple idea/feeling .. "after loading into rt leg/glute, just fall into lead side" dont try to trf wt, bump hips, fire hips, etc. 'just fall' then swing.

    Erica on the downswing after you’ve shifted to the left, is it just the momentum of the club hitting the ball or are you adding some extra oomph for more distance ?? If so how do you add the extra oomph ???

    • @PerformanceGolfZone
      @PerformanceGolfZone  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! Eric here....I would say try both.....start with just momentum and see how you do and then add some speed.....you can add some speed like this:

    Golf instructors do such an amazing job complicating the golf swing while trying to convince us that they are somehow clarifying the swing for the “proverbial golfer.” Listening to lots of golf lessons from different instructors, who all have their way of explaining, can and often absolutely mess up a persons chance to find the one swing that works for them.

    A great drill I was given was to put a tee about 2 feet behind the ball and swing at that.
    It kept my body closed for longer and I hit the ball well, more often than not

    • @PerformanceGolfZone
      @PerformanceGolfZone  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I like that! Simple and effective for someone who gets to far forward and or too open with upper body in downswing for sure

  • @alexchoi2060

    I've heard of keeping your back to the target for an extra beat or to keep your right shoulder back at the top of the backswing-- presumably the same idea?

    • @PerformanceGolfZone
      @PerformanceGolfZone  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Alex! Yep....just for the first part of the downswing....to keep the arms and club in....THEN you need to get the chest/shoulders open a bunch.
      Just dont want to do it too much too early or for most the arms/club will be too far out/over the top

      I tried to do the Cameron Young move at the top, (along with widening the stance became I got too narrow focusing on rotation)and flushed the ball yesterday.

    This is great but I'm thinking about those (myself included haha) that have trouble with that weight shift with driver since for that you want the weight/head to stick back a little longer to hit up on the ball instead of down. What would you recommend for that?

    Great video. The best advice IMHO is to get all the hundreds of swing thoughts out of your brain. Wind up, shift/drop, and let gravity and momentum do the rest. With loose wrists and arms, the weight of the club will dictate where the release occurs. Thanks to both of you for doing this video. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🏌🏻‍♂️

      Hey Larry! Try some of these to help with backswing
      1. Close stance (pull trail foot back)
      2. Flare out trail foot (toes)
      3. Really feel the trail hip and shoulder working around (behind you more)
      Some of these may help:

    why not leave the weight on your lead side and open your hips and turn the body when you move your weight to the right your head moves away from over the ball i love taking my arms and hands out of the swing but i prefer staying centered can i do that ?

    A lot of golf instruction says that the head should remain centered throughout the swing. Here I’m noticing that the head moves quite a bit especially with the fall move. Can you help me understand whether or not keeping the head centered is important?

    • @PerformanceGolfZone
      @PerformanceGolfZone  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Jason! Yes....the head should move forward toward the target from top of backswing to left arm parallel in downswing then it stays there through impact until arms parallel in follow through....then from there to finish it goes up and forward.
      That would be normal for iron.....for driver it may actually move AWAY from 1/2 down to 1/2 through
      hope hat helps

    If I fall to the front foot and let my head move forward at all I cannot get full extension of my lead arm. Now it is way after impact so really does not matter but not a single PGA pro has a chicken wing. How do you get full extension when you fall to the front foot?

    • @PerformanceGolfZone
      @PerformanceGolfZone  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hey David!
      1. The timing is key.....this is only during the very first part of the downswing. Say about left arm parallel. From there you stop moving forward with the head. Then you continue turning, tilting and extending.
      2. Check out THIS video on the key pieces to keep the arms more extended not chicken wing:
      th-cam.com/video/mrR7jnXmckg/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUeUGVyZm9ybWFuY2UgZ29sZiBhcm1zIHN0cmFpZ2h0
      You will feel these AFTER that initial forward fall.

    Staying on plane, and lowering and shallowing are not the same thing. You cannot stay on plane the whole way and also "lower and shallow" the swing. Lowering and shallowing is NOT staying on plane but rather it is altering the swing plane to be a lower angle / more shallow plane in the down swing prior to impact. Lowering and shallowing is not required for a great swing. It is an option for some (see Lee Trevino). I do not see Ernie Els lower his swing plane much. For most iron shots Scottie Scheffler does not lower his swing plane. I assume she is recommending staying on plane for the back swing then changing to a lower / more shallow plane for the down swing?
    I make this comment because all instructors tend to throw around jargon that everyone else says and has very unclear real meaning (control the ground with your feet for example). If it was all clear, there would be no need for dozens of TH-cam channels explaining how you should actually do it - their way.
    Almost hate to post this on Erica because I noticed she has some of the most basic, no nonsense instruction that does make things more clear and she does a GREAT JOB.

    Completely unrelated to the presentation... but am I the only one that's scared of the fact that they hit TOWARD a building at this place? I've never been there but it looks like if they use anything longer than a 6 iron, they're gonna put it right into the building.
    Then again, I'm a horrible judge of distance.

    All bad coaching everywhere. You have to create unbalanced Posture. This way weight shift is not stuck on right leg. If you shoulder and upper body in front as much possible , then you already in unbalanced position. Then next is feet. You have to away both sides.
    Swing thought is key. We forgot the concepts . So drills are macro ritual which hides real purpose.
