    It's as simple as this Red, Sonny and Dave had the book written, Elvis what happened, for three reasons . To make money, for revenge, and to maybe try and help Elvis see what he was doing to himself.

      There's no doubt it was done for money and b/c they were pissed. & having talked to both Sonny and Red, later in life, and through certain ways of putting things, they admitted that was true. There's no question that they loved him, however, and Elvis could have handled the situation better, too. Although, I believe Elvis had instructed - as it concerned Red and Sonny, at least, Vernon to give them each $5,000 for monthly expenses and then he planned on bringing them back.

    There is a new book out.....Elvis, Born To Die Young. A must read. The author has done extensive research on the physical health of both sides of Elvis’s family She has documented proof that he inherited catastrophic terminal diseases; such as high blood pressure, A-Fibrillation, twisted colon. 2 chambers of his heart were malfunctioning. That means his blood flow wasn’t normal. He was NOT taking drugs for highs, or lows, he was seeking pain relief. He had fluid retention. Anyone could see that. All,that leads to pain, extreme fatigue, and weakness. He had Glaucoma. No one knows how much pain he was in. And all around him....no one understood, and some didn’t care. The ignorance is unbelievable. People, such as myself, who have the heart issues, and chronic pain...know what he was going through, or, some of what he was going through. As no one else has had to support the army he did.....and then go on stage and go be his ALL to his fans. He was a hero. Love you Elvis, Rest easy beautiful man.

    The fact is the book was pure dirt. Things in that book that no friend would EVER write about another friend. EVER. The book was written in anger. Not for money but for revenge. There can be no doubt the book contributed to Elvis's mood and death. At the very least it did not help things. Red and Sonny felt dreadful about it years later.... Dave Hebler... not so much,

    Hebler, I wish you weren't 80....But the truth is, it was only after the negative responses that you guys started to put things in a more truthful perspective. When, too, the truth is you guys were pissed and you, more than anyone, went looking for Elvis at his house to kick his ass. Well I have news for you... When you did that, you didn't know the whole story of how Elvis, even with you - not just Sonny and Red - was going to bring you back. I am also sorry about any negative feedback against your daughters. But I assure you; should we ever meet; you'll apologize - or no - things will not go as you like.

      CHRISTOPHER TYLER How do u know Elvis was gonna take them back?And who would b the child maybe u?

    • @christophertyler3425
      @christophertyler3425 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chairlesnicol672 Thank you for writing and you're quite correct, as my comments were totally childish and I apologize. However, I have covered Elvis' life professionally for over 25 years and have spoken to just about all parties concerned and close to the incident. So, I totally know that 'the book was written to help Elvis' story was and is total nonsense, when instead the primary motives were anger, revenge and money, though the guys hardly cut themselves a good financial deal. Also, in point of fact, & speaking to Red West at Albert's in Memphis one night, someone actually had the balls to come to the table and ask about the book, which greatly irritated him.
      With his response (as to writing the book out of anger and for money, etc.) being, to paraphrase, disgustedly saying "[h]ell, it was done for a lot of reasons, but I loved that man, so next subject." Talking to Sonny over the years, too, I noticed his story change, as well. And I frankly think that's because he did feel bad about doing it in hindsight, and I know he definitely loved Elvis.
      When my sourcing for Elvis hiring them back, especially Red and Sonny, was Linda Thompson and several other individuals. Also, in regard to Linda, yes I very much know that the two had broken up a bit prior to this. However, she and Elvis remained the closest of friends and would often talk about this issue and others. Though it's all rather complicated and somewhat contradictory, but much in the Elvis world OFTEN is, so I only go with A STORY if there are at least 3 close people who all give basically the SAME ACCOUNT. For example, Linda said Elvis was going to bring them back after a month or so, while others say about a year later as Elvis talked about big changes; cutting the staff; and taking a year to go get healthy. Therefore, as Elvis definitely loved Red and Sonny, there's no doubt they would have been together again if not for his death. Things are also a bit contradictory as to Mr. Hebler being brought back, but as to Red and Sonny, there's no doubt. With it being unfortunate that Mr. Presley never gave them the money, Elvis had intended, though there's contradiction, too, as to whether or not they were ever told that as was to be done.
      I'm quite sure Elvis made that as part of his instructions, as one aspect of it had to do with them being off the payroll at a time when Elvis was facing a few lawsuits, I believe, for the guys getting a bit rough. I just can't recall if Red, Sonny and Mr. Hebler were told. However, for some reason, I recall Red calling either a private detective or lawyer, but I don't think Mr. Presley delivered the news. (it's been so long, I'd honestly have to go through my notes.)
      And, as I've written elsewhere, Elvis was certainly no innocent in the whole affair. However, their actions, and especially Mr. Hebler's in trying to track Elvis down in a threating way, as it's been described to me, were in no way merited. As Elvis had done so, so much to help Red and Sonny - over the years - in fact giving Red the great career he had, as he was also quite gifted. Even in a short period of time, Elvis had given much to Mr. Hebler. While Mr. Hebler says it himself. He wanted Elvis to fire him face to face, which has nothing to do with wanting to help Elvis. And from the people who all saw it go down, Mr. Hebler sought confrontation. So, the fact is they kicked him when he was unfortunately really down, though the totality of the evidence suggests Elvis most likely did not die of a drug overdose and I hardly feel as if they killed Elvis, but the stress they put him under certainly did not help given his temper, high blood pressure, sensitivity, etc.
      While I've come to believe that they ALL - with the exception of Mr. Hebler - ultimately regretted their decisions and/or how they were implemented. Now, perhaps there's something here that I missed - and I think it was quite shitty what happened to Mr. Hebler. However, especially in that he did not work for Elvis for an overly long period, there's no way his actions were righteous and good. Anyone who knew Elvis well, too, would tell you that the book airing out Elvis' dirty laundry in a salacious way, would be the last way to get through to him and to help him. (and I know the author was the one who made the book more salacious than it should have been) Given that Elvis was a very prideful man, they would have had to know too, that if anything, Elvis' prescription abuse would only increase, to help quell the emotional pain.
      I don't defend Elvis' prescription drug abuse, either, but it's important that we put it into its most proper context. As he was hardly stoned week after week and he had a plethora of health problems that the guys wouldn't even know about. He was typically very straight, too, with the exception of when one of his many health conditions flaired up, when several of them - such as intense pain from glaucoma and horrible problems related to constipation were with him constantly. Also, by that time, Elvis was having his medication dispensed to him as Dr. Nick would not allow him to take it on his own. The drugs that had come before, from the outside, had also stopped coming.
      Elvis was an intelligent man, too, and the evidence shows that his problems were genetically there and not a cause of drug abuse, though that oddly could be said to both have helped and hurt. Because he quite literally could not have done what he did, without the drugs. It's simply a sad truth and Colonel Parker having Elvis doing a marathon of two shows a day (sometimes 3 to cover Parker's gambling debts) for 60 days out of the year was crazy! And Elvis tried, but inasmuch as he wanted to fire the colonel, he also had family members pushing back, as well as Sonny too, supporting the colonel. When, two, Elvis was very strong and not naive, but his southern loyalty was also one of his great weaknesses. So, he totally knew his body was ill and that he needed to do something to take control of it. With the sad part being he died, not long after he began really trying. However, he shouldn't have been touring and took his full year off, obviously much sooner.
      Thank you, too, for putting me in my place as I most definitely should have never spoken like that. Best wishes!!!

    Vernon was a man who didn’t know what to do with a drug addicted son. There was no betty Ford then. The doctors were not even sure what to do with a drug addicted celebrity. They continued to give them drugs trying to cut the drugs back but by then it was too late. Elvis was going to die young as it was in the best circumstances now we know that. In that we see the book of the medical info about the problem he was born with. Most of his heath issues were because of family health that came through his mother. So Elvis would have died young no matter what he did.
    His uncles and his mother died because of the genes they held. We know that because of the medical book the lady wrote. She discovered that you have 11 systems that keep us well. Out of 11 Elvis lost 9 of them functions. So his heart did stop. Because the functions that stopped. His mother died at 46, his uncles 4 of which died in their 40s. The doctors didn’t have MRIs or Ct scans to help them to know what was goivg on on the inside. They didn’t know family history’s to tell them what could happen to Elvis. I believe dr Nick did the best he could with what he knew. He tried to get Elvis off of drugs. But he didn’t have tests to tell him what was goivg on.
