- Fishing Solo 35 miles off the coast of Charleston on the Pathfinder 2700 Open. I tried to use the slow pitch jig, but the current was way too strong for the jigs I had, so I resorted to cut bait. I managed to catch a few snapper, a black sea bass to take home for lunch, and snap a Penn Carnage III in half! I hope you enjoy.

I am headed to Charleston next week and will be trying to fish the same wrecks if the weather holds up. Thanks for the video!
Awesome, hope you have a great trip!
I appreciate your videos. I live in aiken SC and watching your videos make my day when I can’t get to the coast Thanks
Thanks for the positive feedback!
Me @ 10:00 screaming at monitor, "loosen your drag !!!"
Yep, I was being impatient! Lesson learned.
You should try brining those frozen baits so they’re not so mushy… And if you did a real mooching rig to add action you’d kill it out there.
Love your boat!
Thanks!
Would have been a good day for some footage of that pathfinder running in some chop!
I have some good running footage from this morning that I will put in the next video.
I knew if you had any good structure down there that pyramid sinker was going to get lost, but I didn't think it would take that nice Carnage 3 rod with it. If you got it at West Marine they might exchange it for you. Good video though!
Yep, the pyramid sinker was not ideal, but it was the only weight over 6 oz I had with me and the current was ripping. Thanks for the positive feedback!
Beautiful boat. I’ve been looking at the 2700 and 2500 models. How do you like the 2700?
It's a great boat! It has been a great do it all boat for me.
What mpg does the 27 get cruising I have a 25 Jupiter that gets 2.5 at 30-32mph
It can do very close to 3 in the low 30s, but it's most comfortable up on the step around 40 mph getting 2.5 mpg.
I am on the fence of which Pathfinder to get. A few years ago I always pull the trigger on 2600 TRS. We love that boat on the sea trial but life happened and now I’m back looking again. How do you think this boat would do in-shore? Near the mouths of the creeks. That new 2400TRS and Open looks great too since I mostly inshore. Juat wish I had the size when the family and their friends want a day on the boat.
I have owned them both and I really enjoyed both of them, but the 2600 was a lot better for me inshore. I rarely used the 2700 inshore.
@@solofishcharleston thats what I thought and why I was considering the new 2400
I think that would be a better inshore boat for sure! If you are local, the team at Palmetto Boat Sales are great!
@@solofishcharleston oh yes. My restaurant is 2 doors down from them. I know the owner well.
Awesome, which restaurant? I might try to grab some lunch there next time I am over that way.
I'm willing to go with you next time :)
Nice👍
Thanks!
Can that boat run 35-40 mph in that water condition?
Yes, especially in a following sea. I probably ran out at around 30 and back at 40 + with the following sea.
Damn that sucks that the rod snapped, should have loosened the drag.
Yep, 100% my fault. I was just being impatient.
@@solofishcharleston , I've done that before. So excited about the fish, I forgot to set the drag. Love this video. I've spent many days fishing alone. Brings back good memories.
@@dewanehill1435 Yep, I still get super excited when I hook something big! Thanks for the comments.
Nice catch
Thanks!
You need someone to teach you a bit.
Yep, I'm sure I do. I just started doing this a couple of years ago.
@@solofishcharleston adjust your drag always. If you're out there alone with a 50 your drag isn't set, you could easily go off the boat. Don't leave your filet knife on the deck, and last don't go offshore alone, it's just not safe, find a good fishing partner. If you ask for help someone will help. Look at it this way, it will make you a better fisherman faster. Just a couple tips, good luck and be careful out there.
