It's true. Traditional British food gets a bad rep... I remember Brandon 'going off on one' about it whilst also saying that he wouldn't be adding to salt to his English tour.... that was his choice and his fault then. We do season but we don't over do it because everyone is different. So appreciate Joel for bringing this up. Gotta have British chips crispy definitely... otherwise they sit too heavy high up in your chest... it's like they get stuck before getting to your tummy. You did amazing Joel. Yes the pieces of fish are sizeable, beautiful crispy batter too, interesting chips being crispy something I haven’t seen in New Zealand yet. Vinegar is a fairly regular condiment for the fish here but most popular by far is Watties tomato sauce and tartare sauce. Watching this I’m really contemplating going into town for fish and chips tonight, it’s just so bloody expensive though.
I remember watching Joel when he only had 10k subscribers or something like that and he was served a raw burger challenge. Now this man is going to hit 1million subs only in a matter of time. Love to see it. You’re the man Joel. You worked hard for it for sure and you definitely deserve it.

Joel The size of each fish portion was HUGE and they looked so delicious, you made me so hungry for fish & chips !! I like mine with lots of malt vinegar and some tartar sauce. The chips or "fries" I also like crispy. Amazing job at doing 2 challenges at one sitting, but then you are the " GOAT " !!! This was a great challenge and loved every second of it !!

After watching your all you can eat fish video, this seemed like a slam-dunk! I have this feeling that all these food places that have "All you can eat Buffets" are going to changing them to "All you can eat Buffets except Joel Hansen!" 🤣🤣
British chips are usually cooked so they're soft mushy and crispy at the same time! Personally I like mine soaked in vinegar and then sprinkle salt on top. Also pickled onions go really well with fish chips and mushy peas and the pickled onions juice goes really well over the chips too.
They are not "special" fries. They blanch them first and then crisp them at a higher temperature when ordered. That method is ages old and makes for a fry or chip that's crispy on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside.
You should start doing a “what I eat in a day, let us see how you really eat when not doing challenges! Do you ever feel hungry on normal sized portions? And how do you prepare yourself for these type of challenges? Xx

Mushy peas and gravy. Curry sauce is not as popular up here in the North. Has to be salt and vinegar sprinkled on everything. English mustard in the tartare sounds good
Tartar sauce on fried fish was what I ate at home in the USA. Here in Denmark it’s lemon with remoulade. Never done vinegar, but must try. Potatoes are also a different variety here in Denmark and where I live there is not a big choice to choose from 😮 Fries have to be crispy 🙂
15:28 Whoah that whole spoon of English mustard! 😮 I would do anything to go to the UK to eat this, a Sunday roast with yorkshire pudding, curry, Full English Breakfast, specifically! 🔥🔥🔥 Filet fish, tarter. Shrimp, cocktail sauce.
I love to use Russet or Idaho potatoes, scrub them and cut them into nice long wedges with the skin on. Soak them in ice cold water with a pinch of salt to remove the starch. Drain and add new cold salted water several times. When ready to fry, drain and dry really well. Add to a good HOT OIL and fry until crispy and golden on the outside and they float. Remove and drain on a wire rack or paper towel. Salt immediately. Eat and enjoy!! Crispy exterior and mash potato consistency on the inside. I will now rename them my "Joel Fries". LOL

I have the Lemon on the fish a lot of it.. then the Malted Vinegar on all of it, Including the Fries and Chowder!! The Tarter I save for the Fries, The Mustard sounds Interesting, I'll Try it.. As far as what I dip my Fish into.. That would be the Malted, Lemon, Pepper Chowder, I use the Fish as my Spoon.. OMG is it GREAT, I use to Run a Skippers here in Washington, that's where I adopted my Way of Eating.. MY FAVORITE.. Fish N Chips, any SEAFOOD is MY GO TO!!

Outstanding! 😀 Mushy peas and curry sauce have never floated my boat. Certainly some lemon would fill that need 😀 On a really hungry day I doubt I could ever have knocked off a single one of those fish fillets! mixing the mustard with the Tartare didn't immediately appeal, but your enthusiasm has put that on my, 'may try' list... And for many of my generation 'bread and butter' will always be a must! Well done! PS best chips ever are double fried in duck fat 😀

A game changer for me is adding "mint sauce" to mushy peas. Mint sauce is traditionally for Lamb in the UK, but pea and mint is a great combo

Outstanding! 😀 Mushy peas and curry sauce have never floated my boat. Certainly some lemon would fill that need 😀 On a really hungry day I doubt I could ever have knocked off a single one of those fish fillets! mixing the mustard with the Tartare didn't immediately appeal, but your enthusiasm has put that on my, 'may try' list... And for many of my generation 'bread and butter' will always be a must! Well done! PS best chips ever are double fried in duck fat 😀

Definitely Malt vinegar! Not silly at all for the challenge! Ive seen you eat much more! I love me some fish. I would Love to have some fish and chips in the U.K. My problem is having enough money to get there! That fish looks absolutely delicious! I like Louisiana hot sauce, tartar sauce combo on the fried fish!
