    I am always amazed at how wise and articulate Bono was at such a young age! Such an old soul in a young man's body. I have grown up and older now to be 64, and I still love their music so much, and just marvel at how their rock band, really wanted to change the world for the better. I didn't really know in my 30's, how grand a man Bono was with such a genuinely compassionate spirit, who had such caring to change the world, and probably because I was still very immature myself, and didn't hear the bigger messages from their music.

    I was at the Friday show in March 1985....we were right next to the stage. It was one of the most powerful rocks shows I've ever been to. That was the one and only time seeing U2. It was 12.50. Twelve dollars and fifty cents. They were a product of the MTV generation and in the right place at the right time. You will never see a band get as big as them again....never.

    I know that Bono rags on his 80s mullet hairstyle at times but I never saw anything wrong with it, either back then or even now. It looked cool to me. I've seen worse mullets (spikes + straight combo, curly + afro, etc.).
    As for what he says in the video, he's RIGHT ON!! Love listening to him speak.

    How can anyone be negative after this. I mean if you have NEVER known who Bono is or what he's doing now you would say this young man is incredibly smart and more humble than his fellow musicians of the time.

    Is it just me or do the Irish (especially from Dublin) have the KINDEST accents? Whenever I hear a Dublin accent, I just want to confide all my worries into that person. My parents are Irish immigrants from Dublin (I also have dual American-Irish citizenship, which has caused some severe identity issues) and I just love their accents and those of my Dublin family members...all of my very large family besides my brothers and parents live in Dublin and I live there during the summer.

    Yes, Bono and U2 have achevied alot but they worked very hard to where they got. It took them thousands of concerts before they got big. When i seen there 83 concert on VHS in Denver, I even told my own mother that this band is going to be big one day and I was right. I did meet Bono and the boys a few times since i have seen U2 13 times in concert since 1985. I told Bono that I wish I could work for him and he told me, " I wish I could work for you.I think he was trying to say it is hard work.

    This is when I really liked Bono. My father was from Scotland and Mom's whole side of the family was Irish as she had a mother from Dungannon. I was raised Catholic and I could relate to this dude on so many different levels especially while I was in high school. You would see bands like Duran Duran and they just seemed not real and this guy was so normal. Anyway U2 War open my eyes to so much music and College radio. Before it was called alternative music it was called College music. From War I went on to Echo & the Bunnymen, INXS, REM, XTC, the Police, Elvis Costello, Blondie, the Alarm, The Cult, The Replacements, New Order, Tears 4 Fears, The Clash, PIL, Waterboys, etc etc etc the soundtrack of my youth

    @thetrueparadisecity I agree with you as well. Most people that say bad things about others who are not only sucessful, but save lives on this earth, are unhappy and discrutled about there own lives. What a pity. Have a realationship with God and maybe you wouldnt be so unhappy and have bad things happen in your life and quit slamming on a wonderful human being.

  • @BrotherHubbs
    @BrotherHubbs  13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @BarkingEggplant You say that about a wonderful person who has not only gave happyness to millons of people in his music, but also has saved thousands and if not millons of lives. What did you ever do you? Probebly nothing. Because most people who say things bad about good people are unhapppy inside. Another wondering spirit. How sad.

    oh by the way i love john lennon but you want to talk about overrated beatles this fuckin beatles that jesus they wrote some cool shit sure my god the 60s were just as commercial and faddish as the 70s 80s 90s whatever im an 80s kid and i have nostalgia for that but lets be honest it was cheesy and sterile nostalgia for your youth clouds your vision cream donovan i love but come on the60s were a continuation of the late 1950s that was true rebellion due to race etc my dad was a teen was a teen then and he used to sing me chuck berry to wake me up every morning.and punk music was fifty s rock sandpapered up by england.like i said i respect the 60s but when you get that decade of music shoved down your throat by baby boomer parents who cant see as bono would say the dross-its tiresome by the way the 1970 s are my favorite rock decade it was the sixties but more focused. most of my favorite movies are from the 70s taxi driver godfather 1+2 the exorcist jaws suspiria apocolypse now etc.but even the good ol 70s had disco and uglyyy colours sorry for the diatribe youtube is better than shitter fer rants.

Sounds like from what you wrote about U2 that your just jealous and another discrunteld and unhappy human being.
