great review vulkan! i agree with more customization for the click-to-move key. i don't know if you know this but a good fix or the reason why the didn't add this is because most players use the shift to key to attack without moving. if you use that, you'd never run into needing or preferring click-to-move. diablo 2, the tons of hours people soaked into that is why they feel they don't need to change.
How do you group up in multiplayer? Is there a group finder lobby or easy way like that to jump in and out of groups and find random people to play with?

I feel like the shift in direction from an MMOARPG live service game to a traditional ARPG really cost this game a lot of dev time and features. Here’s to hoping they can add to it and improve on this game in the future, and that they make enough money on it to keep up developing. They’re good devs that tried a little too hard to innovate and had to restart. I have faith!
if you are just doing the campaign and not doing any endgame content it will take roughly 15-20 hours to finish the game. Longer if you like exploring and completing maps. But for the most part it is a short and hollow game. No content...the story is crap too.

I remember the maps from TL2. It was odd that they capped out around level 90 or so, but your character could go up to level 100, so a lot of them became too easy. I hope TL3 doesn't do the same thing.
I've been playing on the hardest difficulty. It scales very well. I don't know about end game because I'm not there yet. It is not easy at all. You can't just grind out of either. Quickly you stop getting experience from the lower levels. At the start it feels fine. Then after lvl 5 you see a real slow down. Then lvl 10 hits and everything starts hitting you like a truck. The item drops are based on the area's level. You can't just farm your way out of it either.

People really hate this game, I've been playing it and really enjoy it. I mean, it's not going to compare to something like Grim Dawn , PoE, or Last Epoch (all of which i've 100s of hours of). But for a more shallow and streamlined action RPG experience, i'm finding it pretty fun. Maybe even more fun than diablo 3 lol
diablo 3 was shit. Blizzard just want your wallet... Last Epoch seems to be really cool, but peoples complains about the graphic aspect lol... Path of Exile was good when i played it years and years ago! lol. it's probably still a good game. Torchlight 2 was to me, the best hack and Slash i played! T3 seems to be boring.
@@allashama Last Epoch definitely feels a bit clunky, both in the visual aspect as well as the general feel of the combat, but the build depth is amazing.
It looks like it could be a fun game to play, but there's no way I'm paying the $40 they're asking for it. Once it gets down to $15 or $20 I might give it a shot.
What you said about the endgame (lack of variety) is what killed Diablo 3 for me. I loved the game and the adventure mode specifically but always fighting the same bosses got old really fast. The seasons gave us something else to do but it ended getting boring fast too unless you really wanted the items. I still haven't gotten around to finish Torchlight 2 so I'll wait a bit on 3. I hope they find somekind of fix to variety issue by the time I get it.
Left click to move only was a complaint I had since TL 2. Played over 200 hours of that and still can't believe they didn't change it for the third one.
I bought it on sale for $4 on switch. It was fun for about 5 days. As soon as I got to the second act I lost almost all my interest in the game. The lack of a solid story was what did it. The second area just felt like the first but with a reskin. Not very happy with the skill unlocks either, I played the mage and rail master. Every fight begins to feel the same. What I did really enjoy was the base building and customization. I found myself hunting fame to unlock more decorations. Maybe I should just play Animal Crossing.
Been in this one only since EA and I've enjoyed it to a point but it's probably not going to be my main go to. KOA, Last Epoch, and Grim Dawn are my main go to games right now.
I'll reserve judgment till i play it all i will say is this game has big shoes to fill after tl2. Which was a great game this however still has room for improvements to be made i mean it just released to the public today in full access so if the devs are smart and can handle criticisms they could potentially do great things with this game
If you enjoyed Torchlight 1 & 2 then Torchlight 3 will not be what you are really looking for. Besides housing it took quite a few steps backwards from T2 and isnt really a sequel that moves the franchise forward like it should have.
I feel sorry for developers. Clearly they care, but also clearly they have no idea what to do with this game. generic mashup of arpg mechanics without any spark. Looks pretty though
The ONLY thing that matters is the combat mechanics, if they're fun, interesting, and engaging. You make an 11 minute video and don't talk about the only important part
Did they ever fix the shit targeting? I remember during alpha you could be standing on top of something and miss every hit unless you were standing in just the right spot. Game-killer for me.
I honestly still really dislike it, poor decisions on UI, I hate that the map and inventory take up your whole screen locking you down. The lack of variety is still huge, this should be a switch exclusive, Torchlight Mobile or just not torchlight at all.
Judging from reviews, feels like the game has some potential and keeps improving. And seems that it's till not as good as vanilla Torchlight 2 (no mods)? But people really like to bash this game and talk shit about it, without having a clue about development. Like comparing it with Borderlands 3 (which likely has ten times the budget, plus each DLC costs nearly as much as this entire game). Or calling it a mobile game...why, exactly? The only disappointment in this all is the ARPG crowd, really. Game's fine. Hope it keeps improving, and will pick it up at some point (got a backlog to sort through anyway)
The crowd/fans of Torchlight has a right to be disappointed in a game that is basically an abomination of F2P, MMO, and ARPG designs all mashed into one and hoping for a good game to fall out. The Devs literally only exist because Perfect World didnt want a company that made non live service games. So they shut Runic down...the real developers of Torchlight Franchise. Later on after they had picked up Echtra this idea of live service only bit them in the ass and they had to do a 180, Frontiers to Torchlight 3. Basically they shut down Runic for no reason. Tell me what about this I should be happy about? Not to mention the game is completely inferior to Torchlight 1 and 2.
the way they design the legendary doesn't make you feel the effort you put in worthwhile. Its kinda like " oh legendary, lets equip it then move on" compare to " HOLY SHIT, *after equip it* LOL this is FUN!"
2 has way more customization, plus you have Mods which create even more gameplay. Torchlight 3 on the other hand is still being updated and developed by a studio. So it really comes down to what you want: less customization, but still getting studio-led content (good or bad) versus a deeper game to start fueled by community updates.
The skill system in this game is not like in Path of Exile. In POE, passives are not skills/abilities. They are modifiers and in the simplest of terms they provide more offense, defense, etc. and if you want to change skills, you need only swap out a skill gem. No respect points needed. Regret Orbs drop as a currency and Refund points can also be earned as quest rewards. So you are not "STUCK" with a skill.
It's an okay game, nothing more than that. It's kinda hard to give any reason why anyone who has and still plays TL2 to jump into this though, and for people who don't... well.. it's hard to recommend this over TL2 as well, especially considering TL2 is so much cheaper, so it's in a very weird spot. The one good thing I can say about it over other games in the genre is that it feels really nice to play on a gamepad if you're into that
Endgame is boring, challenges with increasing level make no sense without mobs getting harder or loot getting better, new drop system is crap. Basically as of right now it makes more sense to wait, than rather pump in hours of gameplay to grind out legendaries that actually never drop.
@Josh derp Torchlight 3 doesn't have any real endcontent. Doing challenges over and over and increasing the level has zero progress towards my character. Steam ratings clearly show that people are not happy with it.
@@antongrigoryev6381 Sure but I guess we can agree, that running challenges with increasing levels, that have no affect or better gear is pretty lame right?! I wanna see/feel the character getting stronger. Not happening in Torchlight 3.

40 hours in, rerolled 3x and lvled each time to 10 first time took the longest. got to challenge map 79, heard it goes to 250 playing on hardest difficulty and its just kinda boring now, as i climb its not getting harder really and nothing drops that i want, maps are way too short, bit longer now on hardest setting with things having so much more health but they dont do more dmg. been looking for 1 drop since i started these challenge dungeons and still havent seen it and at this point dont care. either way wasnt a bad game but like everyone else said end game is bland and boring but for $20 on sale and getting 40 hours in suppose wasnt bad
TL3 really just looks like an early access F2P with a price tag on it. Which .. it's been an alpha F2P ever since it started .. and it's still stuck in that phase .. but now they've made the mistake of trying to charge for it. It's definitely a "on sale for really cheap" title. Which is really disappointing because TL2 was a really great game with no longevity and I was really hoping they'd learn for TL3 but I guess not.

is torchlight a finished game or updates are continuous? I'm really concerned bc of the in depth feedbacks
great review man!!
Do anyone know if there will be more updates and DLCs for this game or its the final version?
great review vulkan! i agree with more customization for the click-to-move key. i don't know if you know this but a good fix or the reason why the didn't add this is because most players use the shift to key to attack without moving. if you use that, you'd never run into needing or preferring click-to-move. diablo 2, the tons of hours people soaked into that is why they feel they don't need to change.
Good review. Thanks, dude.
How do you group up in multiplayer? Is there a group finder lobby or easy way like that to jump in and out of groups and find random people to play with?
I didn't care for it during pre-release, but I tried it again yesterday and it certainly plays much better now. They do need to work on the optimization though
I still think T2 's better than 3.. 😁
yUP' playing Torchlight 2 now in 2021 (my first time Hack 'n Slash ARPG game on PC)
And I'm Loving it! It's Awesome
so torchlight 2 moded is still better for now?
Anything is better than this rubbish.
Very well written review ^^
I feel like the shift in direction from an MMOARPG live service game to a traditional ARPG really cost this game a lot of dev time and features. Here’s to hoping they can add to it and improve on this game in the future, and that they make enough money on it to keep up developing. They’re good devs that tried a little too hard to innovate and had to restart. I have faith!
My first reaction was: Is this Torchlight 2 modded?
I know it's cheap to reuse assets, but damn.
You're a fantastic reviewer. Great job. First time visiting your channel but I'll be definitely returning.
Thanks for the video man! One question: how long does it take to finish the single player campaign?
if you are just doing the campaign and not doing any endgame content it will take roughly 15-20 hours to finish the game. Longer if you like exploring and completing maps. But for the most part it is a short and hollow game. No content...the story is crap too.
@@Darius851226 ah thanks for the reply. I usually do the campaign and a bit of endgame. Guess I'll sit this one out
@@Darius851226 15-20 hours mb short for ppl sinking like 100 hours a month in d3 but for ppl like me who have child at home and are glad to play mb 1 hour at max a day are glad if games are only that long so we can move on to the next game
@@Darius851226 i enjoy the game, have spend 700 hours in it so far.
@@johnpoulsen77 didn’t the game come out today ?
The character customization options in Torchlight III are top-notch.
hi, can i get recommendation melee build for Sharpshooter?
@@BlueVoltageBlader Hello, I don't like to advise, you just need to play and everything will come by itself!
@@gamegeek62 thanks for the encouragement.., confused while playing it since everything become a summon, even the buff

Well I was hyped and was thinking that they would do some things better in 3 and now I only read negativ things about it, well it breaks my heart that 3 missed many things that I loved in 1 and 2... I will skip it :(
yea, its not really Torchlight 3. its Torchlight Frontiers, a f2p game they changed to Torchlight 3 very late in development.
Imagine punishing your players for wanting to play the game in different ways via respeccing. What a novel idea.
Imagine having to make a decision and stick by it :0 imagine having to commit to something for once in your life :0
@@AFpaleoCon honestly, respecing ruins games I’m glad it’s not here
@@AFpaleoCon its a f king video game, not life,
tldw: no go play chronicon instead, a game where more love and dedication was put in by just one guy
also forge is the fking worst character design i have ever seen
This. Grim Dawn and Chronicon are instant classics.
I just wish chronicon wasn't so unpleasant to the eyes. But still such a good game.
+1 for Chronicon
Much better to add more content on Torchlight II like PVP, Dungeon Raids or even make TL2 an MMORPG with class progression rather than releasing TL3.
can you turn off the blood in settings like in torchlight 2?
I love this game can't get enough of it, I made a rail master summoner so fun
I saw the trailer and thought free or like 15$
What you said about the endgame (lack of variety) is what killed Diablo 3 for me.
You mean like every ARPG ever? jesus christ..
Loved Torchlight. Torchlight 2 a bit less. But then Grim Dawn happened and not even considering Torchlight 3. Grim Dawn is just awesome
does it have local/couch co-op for 3-4 players?
is there a single player mode?
As someone that’s new i think level 5 is too low for the option to swap your relic. I got to level 17 on my first Play.
Maybe I should just play Animal Crossing.
lol. :D anyway good review.
what about lifebound system? is it still in the game?
Nah, this is the absolute worst of the series. Game-breaking bug bonanza still. A very bad game overall
The ONLY thing that matters is the combat mechanics, if they're fun, interesting, and engaging. You make an 11 minute video and don't talk about the only important part
but they are clunky, horrible and extremely minimalistic, and always feel out of place...
I'm 170 hrs in and still loving it, definitely got my $20 worth and then some!
Wow
Dead Game,yeah>
Did they ever fix the shit targeting? I remember during alpha you could be standing on top of something and miss every hit unless you were standing in just the right spot. Game-killer for me.
Grim dawn > torchlight 3 all day long.
Does the switch version offer local co-op?
I honestly still really dislike it, poor decisions on UI, I hate that the map and inventory take up your whole screen locking you down. The lack of variety is still huge, this should be a switch exclusive, Torchlight Mobile or just not torchlight at all.
This game isn't even worth pirating lol.
What a letdown.
I remember playing TL1, TL3 doesn't seem to have much of a graphics bump.
I have only ever played Torchlight 1 which I enjoyed but never played 2. Which one is better? This one or 2?
2 has way more customization, plus you have Mods which create even more gameplay. Torchlight 3 on the other hand is still being updated and developed by a studio. So it really comes down to what you want: less customization, but still getting studio-led content (good or bad) versus a deeper game to start fueled by community updates.
much better than Diablo, POE for light user and beginner, no money & hard working needed. and much better UI, graphic
can i crossflatform this between pc and switch? thanks
Nope :(
The skill system in this game is not like in Path of Exile.
Might be worth buying if it goes on sale for 5 bucks.
Just meh. Way to kill the hype, devs.
The devs of Torchlight 3 and the first two are not the same :)
@@loonysyndicate8553 It shows.
Great review. I'm enjoying it so far, though the beginning is slower than i expected from playing torchlight 2.
If I had a title asking a question for my video, I'd finish the video by answering the question directly. Oh well.
@@dasoul3710 How it is any different in any other ARPG? I hardly can imagine any other type of endgame for this genre other than endless maps.
@@antongrigoryev6381 Sure but I guess we can agree, that running challenges with increasing levels, that have no affect or better gear is pretty lame right?! I wanna see/feel the character getting stronger. Not happening in Torchlight 3.
Does it have controller support? I’m not playing with a keyboard and mouse.
Games of that genre are not comfortable with gamepad.

Gear tactics, AC valhalla, and hopefully Alaloth in the near future. Why would I want to drop 40$ on this. This is should be a 20$ game tops. Darkwood was 14$ and that game was fuckin awesome
Also the relics go for certain classes.
Tldr, play chronicon. Good ass game, same itch.
Amen such a gem chronicon
Since diablo is old news and POE is a crash mess this is the only arpg out on PS4 till PS5 release so it should keep me busy till then.
Something can both be legendary and common.
