Thing is there are so many lines that would now be commercially viable around the country today that were ripped up under Beeching. He went way too far with the closures. Many of these lines would be a very useful today as an alternative to the motor car especially as the powers that be are so keen for us to use alternatives. One wonders what we will regret doing away with in 50 years time. Town centres, bank branches, petrol and diesel cars, pubs to mention but a few!
Lovely... If only I could make a 'time machine' 😂 God bless you.
Wonderful production, thanks for sharing. A glimpse into a simpler way of life , if only we could go back in time .
Yes if only we could pop back and save all the nice things.
I remember the track being taken up in Willand. So sad. It would have been a great tourist attraction if left. Lack of foresight by Beeching and co.

One of a list. Thinking of Mortonhamstead, Exe Valley, Kingsbridge, Cheddar Valley etc. In a way, the loss of each akin to a bereavement .
I have a video about the Kingsbridge Line and I'm doing research about Cheddar for some videos next year.
Lovely.
Ace !
Great prog. Only a tiny point but the diesel hydraulics on the line were class 22. Class 21 /29 were diesel electrics.
It was dad that did the research, and he did his best. I know he made the occasional mistake like this.
