Something I've come across a lot recently that nobody should do: Place ads every 2 minutes in your video. After the 3rd or 4th, viewers are leaving and not coming back.
I’m almost positive this is people relying on TH-cam automatically placing ads
@@RobertoBlake Probably true. I remember a year or two ago seeing someone in their video apologize for a ridiculous number of ads that were auto-placed by youtube.
@@mikal True. I think a lot of people don’t know. My friend apologized for the amount of ads, and once I told her she can fix that, it was like introducing her to a whole new world. 😂😂 She was so happy.

@@RobertoBlake for me it was early on when I was just getting started and needed to hear that the most important thing was consistency. I never thought I'd be able to produce a video per week but I'm a few weeks away from posting one video per week for 3 years now and in the super small niche I'm in (musky fishing) I'm one of the top 10, maybe top 5 channels. Thanks again for all the help!
I like it. This is similar to "pillar content" in articles. So you have main pillar/evergreen, then you have multiple videos you can then create that then funnel them to the main pillar, or in my case, link to them.. Pretty much everything you're saying you can say "article" instead of "video." I've had an adsense account for 10 years, but I moved to Ezoic and I've not gone back. I got accepted into the premium ads program, so the sites are displaying decent Nike, Underarmor, and other good brands. Roberto's tips really work if you put the work in.

Thanks for these tips. Especially useful to me was the tip on promoting the highest performing videos instead of the newest ones. I would have thought that the newest ones haven't been seen much yet and stand the highest chance of blowing up if promoted, but what you said makes sense. We already know those other ones perform well, put them in front of viewers.

Man I just got monetized. It's literally been days. Right away I went looking for information on how to maximize my returns without ticking off my viewers. I learnt a lot. The timing is perfect, We are about to get monetized within days. Regarding the length of videos are you saying that we should aim for 8-12min videos? Is it worth to try making videos longer just for the sake of having a mid-roll ad? Many of our tutorials are sped up and adjusted to the length of a a song (3-4 mins). Since this type of video seems to work we’re planning to create more and I could change the pace if it makes sense as I believe the audience would still watch. On the other hand I know how fast people consume content which makes me think to deliver short and sweet videos.

Would you recommend turning OFF all ads except for pre-roll for a video (or an under 2k subscriber channel) just growing until it reaches "critical momentum" to encourage more extended views . . specifically not running mid-roll ads for fear of people dropping off?
