    Doesn't matter what kind of dumb stuff you do, or me, or anyone else. There is always some one out there that has done 100 times dumber crap. They just don't tell adout it. I personally admire you for being an honest guy and posting all of it. The good, the bad, and the down right ugly. I think youd be a cool guy to hangout with. Thanks for sharing your adventures.

    Hey amigo. Don't punish yourself too badly. I know exactly how you feel. One small thing neglected can lead to catastrophe. As you said it was a lesson learned already. So in this case it wasn't neglect. It was a mistake - with similar consequences yes, but no it wasn't careless, nor intentional. Crap happens. You forgiving yourself will help me forgive myself when I do similar sh**😊. Happy trails.

    There was a circle dirt track in the next town growing up. My buddy had an old ford falcon in the 70s. 5 of us piled up in it and hit the circle track and lost a right front wheel. Slapped vice grips on the axel stem and back to making a few more laps around the track and drove it home as fast as that car would run. Sooo. Bout 50 or so? Haha. I thought that would be relatable. Also. Prettyyyy pretty good. Larry David impersonation? Thanks for the video bud.

    This is the third time i have heard of this happening. Time to get a spare axle nut for my bike. I wonder why they quit using castle nuts. Never had one fail. Likely i will put a zip tie on to help prevet loss too. Thanks for the education

      @SomeGuyRides  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      yup I'm going to drill a hole in the axle for a cotter pin or something... someday...

  • @luvnotvideos
    @luvnotvideos วันที่ผ่านมา

    First - I'm glad you made it to safety and were able to find a replacement.
    Second - Does your axle not have a place for a cotter pin? If no, how is it held in place? Is Locktite your only hope? Just trying to understand how the nut came off to begin with. (EDIT - I just saw your answer to another person asking about cotter pins and find it absolutely insane that no hole is provided for a pin. WTF were the engineers thinking???)

    • @SomeGuyRides
      @SomeGuyRides  20 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      I know - for such an important bit of safety - it's nuts that this isn't just standard... crazy... the little honda doesn't have it either... Johnny Pow says his DR does...

  • @slowtaknow
    @slowtaknow 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Is there no cotter pin on it to prevent this? I seem to remember all having one.

    • @SomeGuyRides

      unfortunately no. next time I change tires I'm going to try to drill the axles and add 'em...

    I had bought extra axle nuts for my CT 125 and I keep them in my tool kit. (for front and rear axles) It probably means I would never lose one now. I saw a video of 'someone' that lost there's, and I thought it was wise to have. You can't carry everything. Best of luck to you and I hope all is getting back to norm in ashville!

  • @DuskersHusky
    @DuskersHusky 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Hey there, the axel nut should be closest to the chain, so you can torque it down without forgetting. Some believe it has better clamping force next to the chain so it won't move out of adjustment, great video 😊

    Well ya kept her runnin', good on ya. Loved when you said this for potential excuses, "... low IQ, ....", you gave me a laugh. That land outside of Antonito was sure beautiful, and lush, and you're running along a river, widening out to grass land w/ the high mesa walls on either side. That sure was a contrast to much if not maybe all of the BDR. Thanks man, and I continue to enjoy your travels...............

    Take a few zip ties on the other end of the axle where the hole is and tie it to the swing arm in an X pattern. The locking pliers will damage your threads. But it worked. Thumbs up.

    • @SomeGuyRides

    • @1young-geezer
      @1young-geezer 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      In Ang's defence, I believe he vice gripped OVER the zip tie so it didn't damage the threads, and keeping the zip tie collared and attached preventing anything coming off or out - purdy dam ingenious if'n you ask me......
