My initial years of violin learning several years ago were often so much observing the fingers of my teachers. Not all the time you get the opportunity to sit closely and watch them unless you are with them while they play . As performing artistes it is rare. But these videos mean so much . It is a long time I played now but this is how I love to make students learn . The focus of camera, karthiks narration. I so much would like to sit with him and talk someday and make a video and promote his work. These videos are priceless for any learners if I see myself from 20 years ago . Best wishes Karthik

How many of you felt the same.
Especially Aberi and madyamavathi are one of the soul ragas that I get tears while listening or playing them.

The original Abheri had a slightly different dha, in my understanding. Later time dha has become that of Bhimpalasi.

Dear Sir, With due respect -
Abheri (with reference to nagumOmu of thyAgarAja) is NOT the right name of the rAga
Abheri is actually a janya of naTabhairavi with same SGMPNS and SNDPMGRS, D being suddha daivatam. Over time, this composition because of whatever reasons was being sung with the chatushruti dhaivatam, thereby making it a janya of Kharaharapriya (Mela 22). This has happened around 70-80 years ago. Prior to that, you can still hear versions in the original tune. Smt. R Vedavalli and he students still sing the composition in the original tune. Several prominent musicians have either unlearnt the old version and learnt the new one due to the popularity or completely abstained from singing the song itself.
Mysore Vasudevacharya's bhajarE rE mAnasa is a kriti in this scale of Mela 22. The name of the rAga is karnATaka dEvagAndhAri (or dEvagAndhAram in dIkshitar parampara).
Because nagumOmu was synonymous with the name Abheri - the name stuck, but with a changed scale. (Just as hamsadhwani is synonymous to vAtApi).
PLEASE NOTE THIS. People uploading knowledge oriented lessons, need to be all the more careful. Just because a wrong is propagated, we should do our bit to check resources before posting. Your playing is very nice, hence I am sure you will take it in the right spirit.
