Even the Tyagaraja bhagavathar's Guru is a Tamil in Tanjore belt (where the Tamil Shaivism & Tamil music is flourishing). Tyagaraja just wrote keertans in Telugu language for the Tamil music which is prevalent even today in Shiva temples all over Tamilnadu. Just because English people are using Hindu-Arabic numerals today doesn't mean they came up with the idea. South Indian classical music originally belongs to Tamils. It was later adopted by others. 1000's of years old Thiruppugazh, Thevaram, Thiruvasam ,etc like spiritual & musical texts exist only in the Tamil language.
