Every major league sports agent operates this way. The megastars garner them a larger commission. The middling or lesser players commissions are chump change to them. Monies used for travel and lunches. People will blame Noel for being an idiot, but he looked at one of if not the premier agent in the NBA and how he swung deals and had no reason to not believe him. On the other hand, if your current agent can get you $70 mil and you're averaging a triple single, you might want to ride with him.
They say: Rich Paul met him in the party and told him to reject that offer and fire his agent and join clutch sport to get $100m contract. Maybe the story is false, but I read it somewhere.
from my understanding this is true. noel's old agent did amazing work for him and its sad to think he threw that away for the CHANCE at $30 million more than the $70 million deal that was secured for him. paul told him what he wanted to hear though and made noel believe $70m was a lowball. it was manipulation.
This is the issue with big agencies. You gamble on a player to get a bigger deal, He fails, No biggie you have another 40 bigger clients. For the player it is life changing.
Rich Paul also can say to teams "I'll make sure that no player - free agent or otherwise, will ever want to suit up for you" and badmouth them to other non KSE-managed players and other agents, if they don't do what Rich Paul wants or desires (in AD's case - a trade to the Lakers). This is flat out blackmail and I can't grasp how Rich Paul and KSE get away with it scot free and how GM's cater to his demands (maybe to try save their own skin). Rich Paul as well as his association football (a.k.a. soccer) counterpart in Mino Raiola (who has had his fair share of controversies over the years) are not good for sports in general and could be even bad influence to some players like what happened to Nerlens Noel for example.

Do your research, Rich Paul was not Nerlens Noel’s agent when he turned down that contract. His agent at the time Happy Walters wanted them to take the contract foe obvious reasons like his cut of 70 million dollars. Noel had a casual conversation with Paul who did not advise him in any official capacity but as a friend. He must have liked the advise since he signed Paul as his agent afterwards. Noel is only suing Paul because he doesn’t want to pay him what he owes.
And that’s exactly why the case was thrown out and Paul’s counter was granted now he owes rich paul $, this whole case was an attack on rich Pauls character, and an example of how Noel does not want to take accountability for his own actions
They should start giving out season(s) bans for violating contract and refusing to play. Anthony Davis, James Harden have already violated their contract. Ben Simmons looks like he is going to try the same thing with the76ers this year
The rule was targeting Paul. He does great for his clients. Getting hurt is on the player. You must make the choice-Paul works for clients. Not the other way around.
