Apparently, they wanted Kevin Coster to return...but "Yellowstone" became a hit, then Costner's divorce happened, and the fact that he is in the middle of directing and starring in two westerns which are coming out this summer - separated only by 2 months.
This performance seemed a bit rushed because all the another times I have seen waterworld, it wasn't this quick. Anyways the performance was still outstanding.
But why are they always battling the audience because of their own inferiority complexes to it ? That is the only thing that is fuckIng annoyIng to me... Holy Shit... get over It... you get as much hype as you deserve... and if you end up In a lame show In some amusement park... well... that is what it is, you can't make more out of it by trying to devalue the audIence or revalue yourself. Do a fucking genius masterpiece of a show and you will get a whole own stAge for It someday, or enjoy what you ended up with and take it easy... don't force it to be different... it is what it is !
No they look alike, but in this one its Nate Hedrix, Im a stunt performer there. Nate Hedrix is really animated when it comes the playing the deacon :)

The main difference between The Show and The Film is the Mariner in The Show is more of a straightforward hero than Kevin Costner`s anti-heroic and admittedly(Considering his background and what we`re shown of the treatment of mutos like him by normal humans in the Film)understandably misanthropic loner.
Man this Deacon is so boring. Christopher Daniels is way better. This guy sounds like a high school actor who thinks that memorizing lines constitutes acting.
Anyone else actually slightly concerned for the villain being on fire? It's the suit being lit I know but his face and hands are still opened without coverage. One accidental move and the actor is slightly burnt. It always incredibly dangerous and the show should come with the (don't try this at home) at the beginning and end of the show like the stunt show in Florida did
Owl Lover the actors are trained professionals and the person puts on a fire protective gel and a special suit under and just in case there’s always that water to put it out
so because of how far away he is i cant tell for sure but it could be a silicone mask and it looked like silicone hands but as jason said they could also be using heat gel that stuff is crazy good. you can put it on your arm with 0 protection other than the gel and be perfectly safe. look up a video called clown set mime on fire and in that video you can see his face is on fire in that as well as a video called Fire Test for International Commercial. www.AFStunts.com and their youtube shows alot of use with the gel
I was watching a different video of it (the dress rehearsal one), and there's a close-up on him fright before the burn. He's got gel on his face and hands (he puts it on when the plane crashes- he disappears behind the structure). So he's safe.
A stunt double takes his place. When the plane crashes in to the theater... that is when the real actor goes in the back and the stunt double looking like the real actor switches in his place for a while. He already has fire proof bald cap and fire proof gel on him.
Thats the deacons double, its not the same person. They switch out the person, they wear skin like protective gloves and a bald head piece slicked in fire retardant gel.

They are both great! I'm such a huge fan of both. Waterworld is like a passion of mine.
The DVD release only gave us the edited for TV version which removes a lot of good scenes from the theatre release.
They actually do use real Hollywood actors for this show.
