The Universal Studios Hollywood Studio Tour tram route hasn't really changed in the last thirty years. Minor changes depending on filming on the lot as well as the various tram specific attractions. For the most part, you see a lot of the studio on the tram. If you're going to visit Universal, we highly recommend the VIP Experience. Yes, it's a bit pricey but in our opinion completely worth it. You ride in a trolly with a 15 person maximum and stop at various locations on the backlot. You can touch and feel the facades and then you get VIP (Front of The Line) access to (most) rides, shows, and attractions in the theme park. A Studio Guide stays with you for most of the day and walks you around to the various attractions. They're the most knowledgeable about Universal Studios, filmmaking, television production and a whole lot more. Some of the Studio Guide are active actors, writers, and producers who have the first-hand experience in Hollywood. Here's a good video explaining the VIP Experience th-cam.com/video/bAvQr_0jAm0/w-d-xo.html
No way it looks the SAME as it did in 1979 jackass. Because in 1979 they did not have the Back to the Future set, nor the War of the Worlds movie set or the Ronny Howard "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" set. Nor did they have a Stephen Spielberg street that intersects Jimmy Stuart street. You're such a buffoon.
Very true! I worked part time as a DJ at a radio station while in college about 30 years ago. There was a young man who was in high school who would hang around. He was hired as a part time announcer a short time later. He had a true passion for radio and he now owns a radio station.
I'm struck by Steven Spielberg's warmth, candor, positive energy and good will. A really fine man, excited about his craft, whose talents have given us film magic. Gotta love this guy!
To go on a personal tour of the Universal Studios backlot, with the legendary Steven Spielberg, you'd have a better chance of winning the lotto than for that memorable chance.
I once went on a VIP tour of Universal Studios and once saw Spielberg in NY and got waved at by him I wish I could put those two moments together to have THIS fantastic experience!
i saw Spielberg in person with tom hanks and meryl when they were shooting The Post 2 minutes outside my apartment in white plains. ill never forget that moment
its something i would never forget.I did once speak to David and Richard attemborough though. They were very nice and down to earth people just as much as Steven appears to be in this video.
It's humbling to hear him talk about how he was honored to share a sign post with Jimmy Stewart, and his time sitting on the Orca to get through his stress from making Jaws. Very good interview.
J&J Snacks Their reaction looks like “ohh just a old man and his co-worker driving by on a golf cart” lol I would’ve freaked out and be like THATS STEVEN SPIELBERG!!!! #GOAT
So happy I found this in my feed. This is such a gift you’ve shared with us. I admire Mr Spielberg so much and love his films. To see how humble and friendly he remains after all of these years is incredible. Thank you so much for sharing.
I never met any of my grandfathers, both which passed long before I was born. But, watching this makes me feel like Steven is exactly how one of my grandfathers would have been. And that, oddly comforts me.
Tyler Byron : I agree as this was so nice to see him relaxed and enjoying himself. Imagine a world (parallel world, perhaps) that didn’t have him or his movie legacy in it‼️☹️😥
That's because he is! He's such a sweetheart. He's said many times that he doesn't care about the billions. He cares about the movies. He'll never change.
George Lucas feels the most businessman like out of all three of them however, He is very good at creating visionary worlds like the Star Wars franchise and how to successfully market it, which is why Star Wars is one of the most recognizable franchises in media history. Too bad he isn't as good a writer though.
$ has nothing to do with your success in film because the people who are distracted by it, make crap. Spielberg has always been like this. Thus, the passion of sneaking on sets, learning, studying everything.
A tour of Universal studios by the great Steven Spielberg himself......, I bet this interview barely scratched the surface into the stories he could tell, way cool! 👍
Who wouldn’t want to visit Mr. Spielberg’s neighborhood? And through his genius as a filmmaker we have many times. This magnificent studio has familiar sites from hundreds of films and television shows we’ve enjoyed over the years. In this case, thrilling to hear Mr. Spielberg’s personal memories, the next best thing to having all those walls talk. Thanks for posting!
Spielberg is in his 70's but he has the demeanor and energy of a guy in his early 20's!! No wonder this guy is turning out amazing films, one after the other!!! What an amazing person. (note: psychologically, once the kids grow up and move out of the house, the parents turn back into kids again... so maybe that explains Spielberg's amazing energy) I would love to have breakfast with this guy....
It even is the case without kids. I have none, and therefore, I still am the "only kid" :-) .... however, I see hundreds of parents (my age, and much younger) whose kids left the house, and those parents act VERY OLD right after. The so called psychological rule does not seem to work.. :-) ... my best guess is : it's very personal !
Jews live longer than gentiles by about 20 years. Billionaires live longer than poor people. That's why he acts and feels so young. He eats the best food, lives in the best homes, stays at the best hotels, travels to the best places, best entertainment, constantly has everyone stroking his ego, and can afford the very best healthcare.
Bossman wrong. Spielberg has always been driven by the energy of his soul, the universal energy, doing what he loves and behaving like a free spirit, since he was a little kid. THAT gives you infinite energy, being connected to your purpose and what the universe wants you to do. Has nothing to do with money, diet, traditional psychology or some other thing
it is so awesome how Steven is so open about himself and his personal "stuff", and also passionate. Seems like the coolest guy. A huggable big goof! :)
I put this video on my watch list some time ago.... Now it's late night and I'm getting sleepy with youtube in the background, suddenly I'm finding myself watching Steven Spielberg giving this tour of that lot on Universal. Feels like a dream. Thank you
@SBmedo20 Glad you finally got around to watching it. Most of our videos are "worth while". ;) We've got over 2,000 others. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. Thank you for your comment.
What a priceless and one of a kind tour that was! Way better than a noisy crowded tram. I was fortunate to meet both Steven Speilberg and Jimmy Stewart at the 1990 opening day of Universal Studios Orlando. Ironically, I was a young film student too back then. I luckily knew a few people working at Universal and found out Speilberg had a private residence/office while he was at the theme park. So, I took a chance and waited near there, hoping to just get a photo of him. I got my wish and more when he soon appeared. I told him I was a film student and he graciously took a few minutes to talk to me about my film school and we also discussed technically a few shots from his most recent film, "Always." That day was definitely one of the coolest moments of my life.
@Mitsurugi Jin don’t forget that he is in great shape for his age. Most elderly people end up in retirement homes, and Spielberg is still moving around making movies
I was a young kid trying to break into the entertainment industry in the mid 80s and got a "Day Job" at Universal Studios. The Amblin Entertainment complex, behind it's own mysterious gates on the Universal back lot, was the highest on my list of places I wanted to see, but it was very off limits to most. One day I got notice late in the day that someone needed an urgent package delivered to Amblin and I was chosen to deliver it!! When I got there in my studio car the gate was open but no one was there.. I did however get ON THE GROUNDS of the Mysterious Forbidden Amblin!! I was like a little child in a fairy tale.. Not that there was a spectacular amount to see from the outside, though I could peer in closer than I ever imagined. It was just such a fabled place where others could not go.. and suddenly I could... I have worked in the entertainment industry for many years now.. What a great time that was..
Been on this tour at least 20 times throughout my life never gets old. It has evolved over the last 30 or so years. There use to be an animatronic King Kong now its digital, also there was a mummy section which became something else, I think its now fast and furious. And of course the best part is seeing the back to the future building.
It’s like good memories and scary memories for Steven just going around the lot. Just being around movies that are so great and his movies being right with them. Sitting in the Orca just to get over a nightmare that probably still haunts to this day. Just watching this is like watching a little boy seeing his dreams come true.
One of the high points of my life, 1977, a friend of a friend had business at Werner brothers studio's which at the time was a very closed lot to the general public. We got on the studio lot, my friend and his friend that had a reason to be there taking care of the business in just 30min. We spent the rest of the day running around the studio lot, eating at the commissary, saw lots of stars and a fun memory, I played a bit on the rope/tire swing used on the Waltons. I can only dream how it would be to have your own private tour with the great Spielberg.
What a great video! And wow did it bring back memories! I use to work at Universal Studios (for their interactive division on titles like Crash Bandicoot) and I got to meet Steven Spielberg then! Just a hello. I also snuck on to his set for Jurrasic Park 2, which shortly after became the set for Amistad in the same soundstage.
I worked for the Universal security department for 4 years (1994-1998) and, wow, what a great time I had. There's nothing like patrolling a studio back lot at two o'clock in the morning!
This video went smoothly, given you were with the incomparable Steven Spielberg. Cute story about Brando yelling at him when he was a nobody. lol. Quite a score for you and based on his reactions, you did well.
The Spielberg drive by reminds me of one time I was in Vegas and while walking around the Bellagio shops, he was walking in the opposite direction straight towards me and I was so surprised I kind of pointed and said "Steven Spielberg." He smiled at me and kept on walking with his wife. It was such a trip because no one seemed to recognize him but me.
This was really cool! I guess some people reading this won't believe me, but I'll lob it out there anyway, in this comment: I was an "extra" on The Lost World (I was one of the dinosaur hunters including the dude with the walking stick which you see in that one silhouette scene on the cliff) and got a special project as it were - Vince Vaughn was sick the day he was to reach for the giant satellite cell phone (as the RV was going over the cliff) and that is actually my arm and yes… Mr. Spielberg directed my right arm to grab the shi* out of that strap (of that cell phone). I remember him saying "let's spritz up his arm" (to make it look like I was sweating a bit in the humidity and all) and I ended up spritzing up my own arm (!!) with a little spray bottle for Mr. Spielberg (and folks around the world, ultimately, I guess, who watched the film). That was (in essence) a kind of simple little thing that (because it was Steven Spielberg directing me and it was a very large project) was actually a highlight of my life. As a side note, I was also the arms (there I go being typecast again :-) of the late, great Mr. Pete Postlethwaite. It was the scene where he scrambles to open the case containing the elephant gun to shoot a dinosaur. Spielberg directed me to do it over and over again (and I kept getting it right) until I made a mistake and fumbled while trying to open the case and then with THAT take he basically said, "PERFECT, CUT!" - It was an interesting lesson in how he wanted the natural, less perfect take - great lesson indeed.
That's a rare and incredible opportunity - I only met him once but didn't have nearly as much interaction with him. I do security at Universal Studios. And of course I'm also an actor & I do BG work but my passion is acting (I train at Playhouse West - last place where Sanford Meisner taught). I think my coolest on set experience was being directed by Clint Eastwood in the movie "Jersey Boys".
Really enjoyed the positivity of the relationship between Anthony and Steven, seems like the two have a very strong connection and it didn't seem like an interview or staged, or forced at all. Very impressed by Anthony.
I did this tour twice the 2 times i went to Orlando and Once in LA. Those poor sods on the tour bus had no Idea one of the greatest directors of our time just drove by!! ;)
Damn, you’d think that a tour of Steven Spielberg would be like special and stuff, but this man is so down to earth, he can talk AND drive a golf cart at the same time. Plus also casually go by a tram.
That was awesome. The people on the tour (toward the end) had no clue that the most famous film director in the world was whizzing by them in a golf cart.
You just saved everyone $119 for the cost of a Universal City Studios ticket. This was better than the tour. :) I was wondering whether those rumors were true about Steven Spielberg sneaking onto the lot. That probably can't be done today. Security has increased 100 times more.
I agree but I will say a buddy and I sneaked in during the 90s several times. One time by showing a tube of sunscreen to security booth as we drove through (power of suggestion)
I live in LA, across the street from Universal Studios. It’s nice being named Steven Spenneberg, and knowing , across the street, Steven Spielberg is driving down Steven Spielberg Drive.
I can’t help but wonder if at least a couple of the people on that row of tour buses were like, “Honey, look! I swear to God that was Steven Spielberg who just drove by!!!” lmao
Did the tour in 1979 looks the same as it did them

horse and carriage around the dirt roads on the lot!
Not even close.

Moral of the story: Always let young passionate people sneak in. You never know if they gonna become iconic movie makers.
Joe Benz that’s so true 😭
Very specific
Only works if you have a certain kind of last name.
@@jjryan1352 Not sure what you mean he wasn't famous then.

8:00 Imagine being on the tour and suddenly seeing Spielberg go by in a golf cart.
stflaw any sane human would go nuts 🥜
+Silas Sharak I don't think they recognized him.
Kinda like how we saw him on a golf cart in Tiny Toons Adventure?
*_sees golf cart_*
“Hm, must be a staff- WAIT STEVEN SPIELBERG?!”
I would probably try to chase him down
Tour Guide: "And now, if you'll look to your right, you'll see one of the most famous and beloved directors in movie history driving a golf cart."
me : oh, woww! is that replica? very similiar to original version 😂
To go on a personal tour of the Universal Studios backlot, with the legendary Steven Spielberg, you'd have a better chance of winning the lotto than for that memorable chance.
I WOULD DIE IF I HAD THIS CHANCE
I once went on a VIP tour of Universal Studios and once saw Spielberg in NY and got waved at by him
I wish I could put those two moments together to have THIS fantastic experience!
i saw Spielberg in person with tom hanks and meryl when they were shooting The Post 2 minutes outside my apartment in white plains. ill never forget that moment
How, exactly, did this happen?
its something i would never forget.I did once speak to David and Richard attemborough though. They were very nice and down to earth people just as much as Steven appears to be in this video.
What I love about Steven Spielberg? He is not just a master of the craft; He is a lover of the movies.
It's humbling to hear him talk about how he was honored to share a sign post with Jimmy Stewart, and his time sitting on the Orca to get through his stress from making Jaws. Very good interview.
Hopefully this will be a permanent attraction, riding around the Universal backlot with Steven Spielberg.
I'd sign up for it!
I'm right there with you.... Here's my credit card, just charge it....
I would to wouldn't care if I had the Money I'd pay in smiles
8:00 all those people on that tour just got to see Steven Spielberg drive by lol

IM SO MADD NOONE CARED! I DID THIS TOUR LAST YR AND WAS PRAYING TO SEE SOMEONE FAMOUS BUT NOPE BUT THESE UNGRATEFUL PPL DID
It's not like they had enough time to even recognize him or react. He's driving by them at like 20mph.
They probably thought "Look, they even have someone dressed up like Spielberg.".
They went by so fast no one even focused on them.
What a genuine guy, And you can see and hear his love for the movies
but he hates America....ya ok
You can't compare him as a filmmaker, but Kevin Smith has that same enthusiasm when he talks about movies.
And he respects even extras
“The tourist would love to see the orca” ICON
exactly
7:58 - the tour guide better have said "LADIES AND GENTLEMEN LOOK TO YOUR RIGHT."
seriously! i wonder how many people got a good enough look at him to realize he was spielberg!
I was on that train he told us to look to the left.
so that you wouldn't see them?
HumorBagel HHAHAHAHAH That was my tram, the tour guy was Paul.
"Was that Ridley Scott?!"
So happy I found this in my feed. This is such a gift you’ve shared with us. I admire Mr Spielberg so much and love his films. To see how humble and friendly he remains after all of these years is incredible. Thank you so much for sharing.
+Andre DeVine Hi Andre, thank you for the nice comment. Please subscribe as these are the kind of videos we like to feature here.
7:58 "yo call me crazy, but was that Steven Spielberg driving past us?"
No >->
I never met any of my grandfathers, both which passed long before I was born. But, watching this makes me feel like Steven is exactly how one of my grandfathers would have been. And that, oddly comforts me.
This is the best interview of his. He is so great because he really cares about film history and has become it, which is a giant legacy.
Tyler Byron : I agree as this was so nice to see him relaxed and enjoying himself. Imagine a world (parallel world, perhaps) that didn’t have him or his movie legacy in it‼️☹️😥
Amazing how so many iconic movies were all filmed within probably less than 20 square miles and that it's all still standing.
Ive never actually heard him speak before! He's such a charming man! His eyes are so excited at everything!
I love that he still calls Ron Howard Ronnie.
Well he’s know them for a long time so it would be weird to say their names formally
And James Stewart "Jimmy"
He seems so down to earth for someone worth $3.5 billion
He doesn't have pressure on him he's already successful
it's how he makes it too. Just like Lucas and James Cameron. They aren't big flamboyant businessmen. Many movie makers are down to earth guys
Wow that describes his movies😞
Kind of blown away that they actually built entire hotels and buildings just for footage to add to movies and they still exist in Universal Studios
That's how the motion pictures industry is. Here are a few examples: th-cam.com/video/9pLp6GaZy7Q/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/eG0XkP1AaOE/w-d-xo.html
Mr Spielberg thank you for the movies!

it is so awesome how Steven is so open about himself and his personal "stuff", and also passionate. Seems like the coolest guy. A huggable big goof! :)
I think "Comediens in cars getting coffee" has some competion...
That was funny! Thanks for the comment. :)
I love that show but if they expanded it to feature 'filmmakers in cars' I'd love to see an episode with this guy!
Directors in golf carts driving around backlots....
Admire him even more!!! Seems like such a kind genuinely good good guy!!!! Very opened candid. Great video, thx for sharing!!!

Spielberg is a damn good hat wearer too.
And he has proper grammar, too.

This is awesome. That would be on my bucket list to go on a studio tour with Steven spielberg, wow.
For someone so slight in build and soft-spoken, Speilberg has been a world-changer and a giant for 3 generations of movie fans.
his vibes are immaculate, he’s such an inspiration.
Steven Spielberg seems down to earth because his creativity and making movies is his passion, the money was just was an after effect of his talent.
This is a great interview. Glad I stumbled upon it.
What a privilege making this tour with such legend! And he's so down to earth. Amazing!
Steven is the reason why I make movies
Unknown Mafia Reborn Productions well good luck mate😊

What a honor to spend time and talk film with a Legend.... Lucky guy
Awesome interview! Spielberg is a legend and the most inspirational filmmaker in Hollywood :)
Just watched the movie and i almost cry🥺❤️ the cgi, the bgm, editing everything is on its peak. Hard to say that the movie was shot in 1980's

This is so amazing! Universal isn’t the same without it
He just seems so down to earth and not an elitist like a lot of Hollywood is. Awesome to stumble upon this.
This video went smoothly, given you were with the incomparable Steven Spielberg. Cute story about Brando yelling at him when he was a nobody. lol. Quite a score for you and based on his reactions, you did well.
Steve is such a kid at heart, why his work is so endearing. Will be a dark day for Hollywood when he retires.
imagine being these people on the tour trams and seeing Steve Spielberg just casually driving by.

"Will this guy ever screw up? C'mon! How many takes is this going to take...We've been doing this for ages already."
Your a HANDy man.....Gotta HAND it to ya ... pretty cool...
I'll give you u a HAND 👏
That's a rare and incredible opportunity - I only met him once but didn't have nearly as much interaction with him. I do security at Universal Studios. And of course I'm also an actor & I do BG work but my passion is acting (I train at Playhouse West - last place where Sanford Meisner taught). I think my coolest on set experience was being directed by Clint Eastwood in the movie "Jersey Boys".
Love it. Great story 👍
Really enjoyed the positivity of the relationship between Anthony and Steven, seems like the two have a very strong connection and it didn't seem like an interview or staged, or forced at all. Very impressed by Anthony.
profound humble artistic genius this amazing male is!😉
You nailed it. he is so humble and so informative. You can tell he loves what he does ...
Super nice guy too.
Spielberg is such a legend man, there’ll never be another. He’s up there with Kubrick.
as much as I love CGI and the amazing things it can do nothing beats a good practical set
Wow. What an honor. I was a guide for years, but a tour like this...
He seems like such a pleasant person.
What a privilege to meet the one and only Spielberg.
Oh man, that would be so great to get a tour from him.
This is amazing. Such a treat to hear those stories. Thank you!
Loved every minute of this interview.
That was awesome. The people on the tour (toward the end) had no clue that the most famous film director in the world was whizzing by them in a golf cart.
Someone should really tell them that another golf cart has been tailing them the whole time.
that was probably Stevens security patrol
Yea😂😂
That's George Lucas doing another interview.
What a truly fantastic video and interview!!!
8:00 do those people realize who just drove past them?
I appreciate for the subtitles because I did watched many times to understand whole conversations😍👏
Very very grounded, seems like a really nice guy.
Just to be able to even meet Steven Spielberg must be nice but a tour with him at Universal Studios! Wow! :)
You just saved everyone $119 for the cost of a Universal City Studios ticket. This was better than the tour. :) I was wondering whether those rumors were true about Steven Spielberg sneaking onto the lot. That probably can't be done today. Security has increased 100 times more.
I agree but I will say a buddy and I sneaked in during the 90s several times. One time by showing a tube of sunscreen to security booth as we drove through (power of suggestion)
Anything's still possible. You'd just have to be more creative and go about it a different way.
I snuck in in the 90s for over a year if not two. Great. Then in the 2000si filmed there
Yeah no thanks to al qeada
I live in LA, across the street from Universal Studios.
It’s nice being named Steven Spenneberg, and knowing , across the street, Steven Spielberg is driving down Steven Spielberg Drive.
Steven Spielberg is ALWAYS interesting. True genius
I can’t help but wonder if at least a couple of the people on that row of tour buses were like, “Honey, look! I swear to God that was Steven Spielberg who just drove by!!!” lmao
Love the interview. He's a movie making legend!
A brilliant interview so interesting.
I like the interaction between these two. Seems like they would be cool guys to hangout with!
Don Rickles would say: oh yeah it's nice hanging out with Spielberg. It's like being alone.
Thank goodness for the success of Jaws! What a storyteller of a man!
A guy named Larry gave me the tour. Did you pay extra for Steven?
DTR89 oh did you not enjoy my tour ? No wonder u didn’t tip
I don't think he had to pay, he was most likely interviewing him
Stephanie Reece 🤦♂️
He always comes across as a genuinely nice guy. And he is one of the most influential movie makers of our generation.
8:00 They must be like “ Holy crap, that’s Steven Spielberg”
Tour Guy: Yes, Welcome to Universal Studios
Awe. I was very fortunate to work at Amblin in the 90's. I miss it!!!
3:20 "It goes from western to Spanish"
"Oh, so Mexican"
"Yeah"
wtf? lol
Taking a backlot tour with Spielberg...best bucket list item ever...
6:02 might need to contact effspot and put a “$12,000 exhaust” on it 😂
I don’t know why I never knew this existed... it’s going on my bucket list now cause I’m obsessed with movies
8:00 I would've literally shit myself.
Waao what a amazing video :-) I love all Steven Spielberg movies, thank you Steven Spielberg for making so super amazing great movies :-)
