I’ve never seen anyone use Sonlight for just the reading portion. I didn’t even know they sold it separately. I’d love a flip-thru/additional info about that. Thanks for sharing!
We're going to homeschool this fall 2023 after 2 years of my son being in public school. We are SO EXCITED!! I'm thinking about using LOE Essentials for my 3rd grader and Foundation A&B for my Kindergartener. I watched your video on the Essentials program, it was extremely helpful! Would it be enough alone for my 3rd grader or would adding in a writing program and extra readers be helpful? (I'll have a 2 year old and a newborn (2 months in to the school year, so I'm trying to keep things streamlined. We plan to have separate math curriculums per their individual levels, but do History, Read-a-Louds, and Science all together...Possibly Sonlight Science B and Notgrass Our Star Spangled Story with their Literature book add on.
Hi! Using Essentials for 3rd grade and adding additional literature is all you'd really need for 3rd. I only added the extra writing with my 3rd grader because she really wanted to write! There is also the Essentials Reader and Activity book you could look at. Those are scheduled within the Essentials lessons. I hope that helps!
Hi! My 3rd grader won't be using America's Story for this coming year. She will be using that for the next year, for 4th grade. She will be using the Masterbooks Elementary World History You Report for 3rd. I am attempting to get my two younger kids starting America's Story at the same time. (I know, a little confusing 🙃) Thank you so much!
I was curious your thoughts on beginning the ROH before beginning Essentials... My son's handwriting is not the best at times it can be unclear. The Essentials TG says to start it prior to beginning the program but I'm wondering if that is for students who cannot write legibly at all or not. I am giving my son the assessment today and I know his writing is not consistent lol I'm rambling now.. thank you!
Hi! If you plan to use the pre-lessons with Essentials, you may want to teach the handwriting with the lessons. If you don't need the pre-lessons, then it wouldn't hurt to start before the first lesson. I just taught ROH when my kids were ready to use the book. I ended up using my own schedule. I hope that helps!
Yes thank you! We've been bouncing between so many different handwriting programs to find the "write" 😂 one... I'm hoping we can actually make it through ROH! 🤦🏼♀️😂
