It’s funny but everyone seems to feel like crying when saying goodbye to the Llangollen, no matter how long or short their time on it. Thank you for this lovely series ❤
Another beautiful video depicting your epic winter on the Langollen, accompanied by stunning drone shots, music and narration, well done Caroline! Looking forward to your travels in 2024
Hello, I’m watching your lovely video, whenever I feel a little anxious and wrapping up in life happenings, I know I can turn your channel on and take a deep breath and enjoy… thank you❤️
I love watching your vlogs, you put my mind at ease (except when you‘re crossing viaducts several times 🙈). And the flowers on your roof are pretty. Thank you and take care of yourselves and the four-legged crew ❤
They love their boat dog life! Poppy especially, as she loved watching narrowboat vlogs when we were planning this life, and now gets to sit up at the back and watch the world go by in real life! Thanks for watching 😊
Glad you enjoyed it! We sometimes have comments from viewers that don't like the music, but this is reassuring! I often reply that everyone has different tastes so we know it's not for all 😊
Love that still shot of you at 17:08. It’s raining sunshine on your smiling faces and it made me smile. Love your vlogs! Hope you’re still videoing your current travels and have enough storage space for all the footage.
We love waking up to comments like yours. Makes our day! So much more footage to come. Our journey onto the Macclesfield Canal, the Peak Forest, then heading south down the Trent & Mersey, the River Soar and all the way down to Crick on the Grand Union Leicester Line. And then up to Stratford and back. This year we will be starting our travels form Crick, but still don’t have a definite plan yet, except we know we are staying south. Thanks for joining us on our travels 😊
Lovely to hear that old engine ticking over on the supply butty. There’s a certain charm to the heritage craft like those. They’ll never know the joys of a bow thruster though 😜 I’d forgotten about those sluice runs and how they push the bow over towards the bank as you exit. Have to give it a bit of welly as I recall. HNY to you from down ere in Sydney (upside down land)
Thanks for joining us from down under! Those bywashes certainly throw you off and we are very thankful for bow thrusters to help a little! But you’re right, you can’t beat the chug chug chug of those old engines 😊
That's a beautiufl canal thanks for showing, one day when I get back to the UK must go and see the Llangollen Canal.... Great Vvlogs guys. you will catch up soon. happy New Year.
Hello my narrowboat friends and puppies. Thank you for the video. Only got about 3 to 5 inches of very wet snow yesterday. Under another winter storm watch for us though Friday. High that day is 32F but after that - watch out. Sunday high is 0F and low of -14F. Again thank you for the video. Give the puppies a treat for me and you 'guys' be safe and enjoy life. PS love your black and white shots. I need to get my camera out. Nothing like snow pictures. lol
Hi Spinner! Sophie showed us the snow from her window yesterday and it seems you had quite a few inches! It does make for some beautiful pictures though! Stay safe and warm with those incredibly low temperatures that are on their way. I'm trying to get another video out in the next few days to keep you entertained! 😊
@@onedaymoreaboard Hello my friends. Well we are under another winter storm warning. 5 to 10 inches of snow possible starting soon. Sophie is also in the warned area. So she'll have more to show you. Then the bitter cold is coming. Sun - 0/-13 Mon- 1/ -14. burr.... time to think about going ice fishing. The lake should have some thick ice. If you seen the movie 'grumpy old man' ice fishing lol.
Another outstanding vlog Caroline! I also love your eye on those still shots! Every one postcard perfect ! Quick question...where can one procure that handy dandy waterproof guide book cover you mentioned?
The strength of those bywashes makes me think that there must be a downhill current on the Llangollen. What a delightful prospect you just opened up - the Macclesfield and the Peak Forest, where I hope you have a look at the progress on the Goyt Reservoir at Marple. The Macclesfield ends up in Manchester, so I'm wondering if that's going to be a thing, but probably for the next but one season? Again, I really appreciate the immense quality of your videography (I think that that's a word (??)) with the b&w "punctuations" and the leisurely recording of the very beautiful countryside (which needs time to take in), always a great pleasure to watch.
Thanks, as always for your praise, it’s good to hear you are enjoying the videos. You’re right about the bywashes on the Llangollen. There is a flow to the canal from Llangollen fed by the River Dee and it’s quite apparent in some places. We didn’t make it to Manchester on this trip as we were hurrying to get onto the Peak Forest Canal which was being threatened with closure again due to the low water situation. We then had to start heading south to get to the Crick Boat Show. But Manchester is definitely in our plan for future travels as that was home to me for a few years 😊
I thought I have seen all of the Llongollon videos but at the end of one, you mentioned a particular episode and said there was one with "more details ". What was the name again? I am going to the Llongollon to cruise in September of 2024. Thank you.
Here is the full playlist of the Llangollen Canal series John. th-cam.com/play/PLWil5NBsoYHpMMi2xvTFz04j8d6qmJrg2.html&si=rkXF443JJv3aoMxY There are 10 cruising videos of various stretches, that put together cover the full length. We did a lot of backwards and forwards of the same stretches during our 4 months on there, and in some of the videos I refer back to the video where I included the whole of the stretch in detail, rather than repeating filming the same stretch. There is also a behind the scenes video of how we filmed and edited the video of us crossing the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. You will have a wonderful time, and we may see you, as we are thinking of heading back there this autumn/winter! 😊
So you've finally escaped, after serving your sentence. Just wondering how you got on for fuel while you were cut off from the network. Was there a fuel boat working on the other side of the stoppage? So what have you been doing since then. Need some updated videos to see where you are. Take care both.
And what a sentence it was! So bad that we are seriously thinking of going back and spending winter there again at the end of this year! The fuel boat was making deliveries by van to those in the other side of the stoppage. Such wonderful service from them. They really are the angels of the canal all year round , and especially over the winter period. The next journeys will be editing and putting out will be the Macclesfield Canal, onto the Peak Forest and then back again and heading south down the Trent & Mersey, River Soar and Grand Union Leicester Line to Crick, then to Stratford. We are currently hanging around the Crick area and our plans so far are ‘stay south’. That’s as far as we’ve got and need to pore over the maps a little more! 😊
Lovely vlog, scenery is lovely around there. I’m a new viewer, it’s not a criticism but how come the vlogs are nearly a year behind. I thought I was hearing things and had to rewind when you said the date of the vlog being February the 20 something 😂
Welcome aboard! And that’s a very valid question if you haven’t see any of our vlogs to know the history. Right from the start we have always been about 6 months behind, as we didn’t make the decision to put out our videos until March 2022, having launched in September 2021. I had always been videoing and photographing our journeys up to then, but just intended them to be for our own use really. Then we put a tour of our boat out on TH-cam, as knew how helpful boat tours were for us when we were planning our move aboard, and designing our boat. That video blew up and we gained so many subscribers very quickly, so it sort of persuaded us to become ‘official vloggers’, realising that there were so many people interested in our story. I had always intended to catch up but then in the second half of 2023, my Dad became very ill. I helped care for him until he passed and took a complete break from filming any new material or editing during this time. Pete was moving the boat on his own for some of that period to get the boat back to the marina we had booked, so we had somewhere safe to leave the boat while all this was going on. Very tough times indeed, and that’s how we are now a year behind. Some have suggested that we just skip it all and put out current material, but the vlogs are as much our own diary as they are for entertaining our viewers, and we have so much good footage that I don’t want to miss it all out. I’m trying to get 2 videos out a week at the moment so that 2024 may be the year we catch up! Hope that explains it all. A bit wordy sorry 😊
@@onedaymoreaboard Hi Caroline, Thankyou so much for explaining your story to me. So sorry to hear your sad news and I hope it didn’t cause you too much distress in relaying it to me.
