It could be argued that major catastrophic and disastrous events don’t really hit home to us until we release how close we are to the event itself. Something could happen on the other side of the world but there could be someone involved in lived or grew up in the same country, the same town or the same street as you. It is in this mindset that we recount one of the biggest tragedies of the 20th century and how it connects with Ayrshire’s past. This is the story of the sinking of the Lusitania and the three towns.
