- South Africa is signing an agreement to import water from Zimbabwe. Department of Water and Sanitation Director-General, Sean Phillips says procuring water from Zimbabwe was a cheaper option. Ziniko Mhlaba reports.

@@phumlamazibuko3003 Last I remember most of our cholera cases in South Africa come from Limpopo and KZN. So how different are we from them? KZN and GP currently also have water supply problems. We seem to forget that our country is no different than any other African country nowadays because the people who lead us are crippling the infrastructure through incompetent tender dealings. Nothing is stopping South Africa from building a treatment plant because we have access to that water. The problem is short-sighted leadership.
I don't get it to be honest some area in Zimbabwe don't water for years but they water to sell to south Africa would southafrica do same if it was Zimbabwe in this same situation what's going here ?

South Africa and Zimbabwe can actually cooperate and connect water from the mighty Zambezi river through Bulawayo if pride can be put aside... Zimbabwe has already done half or a quarter of the job as we speak.
South Africa could supply the electricity needed to pump the water.
