You broke my favorite saying. "Those who can do, those who can't teach." You obviously do it *all* very well. I never had someone explain practical perspective this clearly.
Joe I've clicked on one of your videos in my endeavors to learn the tricks and trades of acrylic painting and I've been hooked ever since! I'm not even sure if you're even using acrylic paint but I'm so pleased to watch and listen to you as you create and explain. My wife isn't even an artist but she has expressed appreciation for your humble and sincere spirit which is equal to or not more beautiful than the paintings you create. I don't mean to weird you out but for me art becomes more engrossing when the creator is as inviting as the work created plus it's pretty dope you give glory to God in your comments. I'm truly fan and I do hope and pray you continue painting and sharing.
My God...this is the landscape perspective lesson I've been needing for forever...and ots so nice to FINALLY have someone actually explain how to properly space things that shrink into the vanishing point. I can't say how much I appreciate this. Thank you SO much!!!
This is actually kind of genius! I never thought about it this way! :D I've also never seen anyone describe it this way. This really helps you understand how big to make your object! Definitely going to check out the longer version.
Though I have taken courses in perspective drawing I have been struggling with this concept for so long in my paintings. This makes things so much clearer. So glad you are here.
Joe, I find your videos a pleasure to watch visually but I have learned a ton that I did not learn in two years at a graphic arts school. Thanks for sharing all this amazing content with us.
I totally agree. I love his videos because he is an artist (a very creative and original one) and he also knows science, besides being very entertaining. (Big Like)
beautiful mind, I love your brain; reminds me a nephew of mine that I loved so much(he passed away long ago)... he was so scientific as you are. it is impossible to not understand your explanations! THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR ALL I HAVE LEARNED FROM YOU! this old lady is very grateful!
Muraljoe you're a talented man. I have watched plenty of your episodes , wonderful work I enjoyed it and it's amazing what you do. Thank you very much for all the great tips . You have brought alot to my attention. Beautiful work ,and Thanks again.
You are the "Boss painter man". You are so great at what you do. Thank you for this video it will help me sooooo much. Keeping making the world a more beautiful place :)
Genius! Would love to meet you in the future! Definetly one of the best Artist 🎨 ever! And such a great teacher. I am learning so much! Thanks for making it so easy for us to understand 👏😊
Great advice! I mostly draw characters and single objects. Lots of details and such. Landscapes are not my strong suite, I'd really like to paint more of them though and I really need to practice. This helps a ton!
You are SO great! This was so informative and a big reason I couldn't transpose my pencil sketches into a painted picture. It just kind of came naturally in a sketch, but I didn't know why or what I was doing so I couldn't work it out in a painting. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I think everyone here loves you....I hope you feel it! Onto the next video. I just want to gobble them up so I don't forget anything. Instead, I'm taking notes. ;-)
wow Joe... this video is Amazing! the way You analyze everything makes me so much more comfortable in my journey painting. I am (sometimes paralyzingly) left-brained which for me at least, does not bode well for creativity, but,.. this kind of thought process helps to at least mask that deficiency.. thank You again! btw.. what school did You go to? or does pretty much any art school teach this kind of thought process?
Quiero agradecer la generosidad que posee para compartir sus conocimientos.... quisiera preguntarle si es posible que sus instrucciones sean traducidas al idioma español? .. Felicidades y saludos desde Guayaquil - Ecuador
Awesome so basically I feel like I'm watching an episode of Bill Ni the science guy mixed with Guy Aitchison/ bob Ross this is amazing glad I found your channel
I learned that from the washington height...... on top inside a elevator look our rectangle windows... down below is mini cars then at exit everything is big again.
you're very talneted Joe. I'd like to see you one day do something not realistic - go outside that realizm box, i bet you are or would create some great original pieces
Thank you very much for that compliment. To be out of one box is to be in another. No one lives without limits. My work is only a pale impression of Gods handy work. So I choose not to call it realism.
Another thing bro ... you think one day you can translate the videos into Spanish? ... Or at least leave the key points explained in text in the area of information? is that way could translate the text with an application to Spanish .... I thank you in advance:) ... thanks for your help ...
Mary S Maybe it just has to do with how a person learns and takes in information...everyone has a different way of interpreting things and lessons. For me this was a revolutionary video on perspective that helped a lot. Really helped me understand how to distance things better. But then again there are some other teachers/videos I don't understand as well, yet other people say things like "this is exactly what I've been looking for, so helpful!" Even though it doesn't make sense to me at all because again, lessons will be viewed and understood differently based on how a person learns and digests information. You could just need a different teaching style on perspective.
Great work and super well explained... BUT, PLEAAAAAASE, just please, remove the squick sound of the pen while in fast mode, just let the music or even silence. It hurt my soul.
This helps me not. Let's say your painting 24x18 canvas. And ya want sky, ocean, little wave, lighthouse and palm tree. Some grass. What's the scale? What am I missing? Can't I figure properly?
Muraljoe you're a talented man. I have watched plenty of your episodes , wonderful work I enjoyed it and it's amazing what you do. Thank you very much for all the great tips . You have brought alot to my attention. Beautiful work ,and Thanks again.
This guy is a genius, wonderful teacher, addicted to his videos! Artist for 40 years and learn something new from him every time! GO JOE!
Been many years but YES he is a genius lol
his patience is so uncommon
You broke my favorite saying.

I had noticed this rule in a couple images in perspective, but I didn't realized it could be applied to everything. Great video
This is, to date, the best explanation fo perspective I've heard.
I have watched several of your videos. You are a wonderful teacher. Thank you so much for your teachings.
So simple. Well done Joe. This helps so much. One for my archives. Thanks for sharing.
you should write a book "the science of painting"
I totally agree. I love his videos because he is an artist (a very creative and original one) and he also knows science, besides being very entertaining. (Big Like)

You have a very good judgment on the scale of drawing before my drawing was flat now im learning the perspective thank you sir
You are the "Boss painter man". You are so great at what you do. Thank you for this video it will help me sooooo much. Keeping making the world a more beautiful place :)
Thank you so much for sharing this video. I've had difficulty determining perspective. You have helped me tremendously.
Excellent. Thank you muraljoe.
You just blew my mind, like Jasper explaining how to make Snapple half-and-half iced tea.
Its a great rule ... Thanks for sharing
You explained it better than my art teacher...you the man.
Genius! Would love to meet you in the future! Definetly one of the best Artist 🎨 ever! And such a great teacher. I am learning so much! Thanks for making it so easy for us to understand 👏😊
Joe the genius.
Great advice! I mostly draw characters and single objects. Lots of details and such. Landscapes are not my strong suite, I'd really like to paint more of them though and I really need to practice. This helps a ton!
Wonderful explanation. I understood the perspective in another perspective.
all I've gotta say is...
that intro was epic
You are SO great! This was so informative and a big reason I couldn't transpose my pencil sketches into a painted picture. Thankyou that rule helped me a lot!
Brilliantly explained, and demonstrated!
WOOOW I NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT. THANK YOU.
This video helped me SOOO much.
thank you, I couldn´t find a way to paint a lake in a landscape. It always turned out 2D. now it has become a little bit better! Thank you
Very helpful. I'm new and really need these instruction videos because right now, I suck at this.
Remember this rule: 😁
1/2 the size = double the distance
1/2 the distance = double the size
Hello, Joe.
Very good and informative videos, I greatly enjoy it. Do you ever use projectors to scale the sketch on the wall?
wow Joe... this video is Amazing! the way You analyze everything makes me so much more comfortable in my journey painting. Yes!! This helps tremendously!
Oh dude you are the coolest. I am on board. Teach me everything you know. I finally jave a starting point and a badass teacher.

a small question,
logically the skyline should not beings to level of your eyes and not that of the man drawn
Not maaaaaath.... oh well I guess getting into art doesn’t let me escape math
I don't get it
I don't get it either. Not sure how this helps. Can't imagine the longer version of this video being any more helpful.
Mary S Maybe it just has to do with how a person learns and takes in information...everyone has a different way of interpreting things and lessons. Good morning
a small question,
logically the horizon should not beings to eye level and not that of the man in the drawing
Great work and super well explained... BUT, PLEAAAAAASE, just please, remove the squick sound of the pen while in fast mode, just let the music or even silence.
It hurt my soul.

Subtitles would really help some ofus
This helps me not. Let's say your painting 24x18 canvas. And ya want sky, ocean, little wave, lighthouse and palm tree. Some grass. What's the scale? What am I missing? Can't I figure properly?
half of what is what what
if only i can explain things as clearly as you, my students would not ended up in the asylum.

Inverse aquare law, not halves and doubles.
please add subtitle my brother, it's hard to understand you.
Okay, Father Ted.
