  • Today in the Mae Ceramics studio I'm showing you how to throw a dripper for filter coffee on the pottery wheel. I used 600g of clay for this baby.
    Make sure to keep an eye out for part two where I show you how I finish it off by trimming it.

    What sort of person gives this video a thumbs down? Someone is literally taking the time to show us how to throw a well made piece of pottery from start to finish and you repay said person by giving a thumbs down? Giving all the thumbs up!!!! Thank you Mae ceramics I appreciate the time you take to teach us.

    Hey, your work is so beautiful :). I am curious about the height-width measurements you mention - what is the desired size?

    Truly mesmerizing work. I just joined my first ceramics class and I wish I studied it in college. I’m so in love. But I am having a lot of trouble pulling up and joking out evenly so that nothing caves in, I haven’t made a uniform cup or bowl yet. Granted it’s only my second class but still I want to get passed the tornado phase.

      Sorry this is 5 months late lol but if you’re getting tornados it sounds like your wheel is moving too slow and your hands are moving too fast, try to switch them around.

    Just found this video. Beautiful work Mae! Thank you! Could you please tell me how high you threw your dropper and how wide at the top you made it! Thank you very much! (Does your clay shrink a lot?)

    Love your videos! And this item is beautiful. Have you tried doing a version with internal ribbing (like in the V60)? Would be interested to see that process!

    So nice. you make it look so darn easy! How long do you let it dry before you move on to step 2?

    • @MaeCeramics
      @MaeCeramics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on the weather, but usually two days. The next day I'll take it off the bat and flip it over so the base can dry, and if it's warm I'll wrap a little bit of plastic around the rim to prevent it getting too dry too quickly.

    this is amazing and thanks for sharing. I am a beginner and also took your domestika class which I loved. Do you have anything glazed in your test glaze from the other video? I am wanting to try making glazes as it is so expensive for the brush on ones in Australia. I am looking for a soft satin or matt white and it does scare me a bit! Thanks form Brisbane

      @MaeCeramics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! I do, I don’t think I ended up liking it though as I went with a different recipe in the end. It was close to what I wanted but didn’t quite fit on my clay body. I would recommend trying it though as it is a lovely glaze!

    At 5:50 you used a tool to measure the height and support the needle tool. What exactly is this tool?!

    • @MaeCeramics

      A clay ruler from Hartley and Nobel! Love it

    • @MaeCeramics
      @MaeCeramics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s a ruler - I just hold my pin tool up to the mark I need to measure to and cut there
