11/24/96 - Ranch Bowl - Omaha NE Descendents absolutely killed it on a tiny stage on the back side of a bowling alley, did a few songs for an encore and it was damn near perfect. Some huge dude next to me starts chanting "Cheer Me Up, Cheer Me Up", and the next thing you know the whole place is chanting it. The band came back out after a minute or two and Milo said something like "Thanks a lot guys, it really means a lot!" and they slammed into the song for a second encore and everyone lost their shit. One of the best moments I've ever had at a concert.
WillisPStyles1 I've always wanted to see them in concert. When I was younger and they probably toured more, I didn't have a car or anything. Now that I have all those luxuries, they only do a few concerts a year and mostly on the west coast. Maybe one day! I do have a zero hoody signed by them, my brother probably got it when he was 18 or so.
"Its been so long since I had a smile I've stayed sad for such a long while If you can cheer me up I could learn to love you You kiss me now and I turn away I think I'm still kissing yesterday So love me, and cheer me up Show me you're the one who can make me happy Cheer me up I don't want to spend the rest of my days dreaming yesterday's daydreams Out with the bad and in with the good You feel my heart girl, you're knocking on wood So generous, I'm being kind With selfishness in the back of my mind Don't want to spend the rest of my days giving yesterday's promises No more giving my mind away Tomorrow's love will be yesterday Don't want to spend the rest of my days living yesterday Don't want to spend the rest of my days singing yesterday's love songs"
Being sad from time to time is ok. Awesome songs like this wouldn't have been written if it weren't for that human emotion. But I don't feel sad when I listen to this song. I just know how the writer feels and that I was never alone with my feelings. No self pity here. Only time to move foward.
@crv110 at the time it went over well, but that was many years ago when i was in high school; a time when cassettes were still popular. it was a good way of introducing the band to the type of women that were listening to belinda carlisle and debbie gibson. i would add it as the last song. they loved it.
Man, as a 15 year old, i feel like im all alone, and im the only one who feels like this. ; the descendents disprove this feeling. they make me feel unreal.
@MangaMoogleMan , want to hear another band that was ahead of their time check out "Quit" Me for Me is the song, since you like the Descendents you should like quit because they had all the same qualities, vocals, harmonies, bass lines, guitar work and drums.
@mcslowpoke I can clearly hear "I" instead of "you". Here's another version I've found on Google: "I feel my heart though you're knocking on wood". Anyway, thanks for your reply :)
what does he sing at 1:08? the lyrics I've found on google are "you feel my heart girl, you're knocking on wood" but I hear "I feel my heart could knock on wood". English is not my first language so I'm not sure...
@Americanidoldreamer1 Singing lessons? Seriously? You are way off base, but you obviously don't listen to this type of music so I won't try and explain just how fucking cool his voice is. Stick to a different genre and you should be fine. These guys wouldn't have been caught dead anywhere near American Idol. That show has contributed to the decline of the music industry.
Goose bumps hearing this tune again.
Ah thinking when a was a young skater
In the early 1990's. Now am a grandfather
And still love this tune. EPIC.
i hope you show your grandkid good music!and good luck and enjoy your grandkids! p.s i dont know how to graduate some one for grand kids:D
it's not much different from graduating someone for congratulating from college :)
Damn you already have grandkids?
don't worry @mejkor I saw what you did my buddy and it's appreciated🤣
2020 and I got goosebumps, too.

Lol ya I had a punk rock year or 2 in my metal journey thanks to a skater bud. We went to a lot of punk shows and had a blast in around 89'
Favorite Descendants song!
Rich Fulk *descendents 😉
7 days straight at Whiskey back in the day. Karl Alvarez saw me sparing change and gave me a 7 day pass, best week EVER!

"Its been so long since I had a smile
I've stayed sad for such a long while
If you can cheer me up I could learn to love you
You kiss me now and I turn away
I think I'm still kissing yesterday
So love me, and cheer me up
Show me you're the one who can make me happy
Cheer me up
I don't want to spend the rest of my days dreaming yesterday's daydreams
Out with the bad and in with the good
You feel my heart girl, you're knocking on wood
So generous, I'm being kind
With selfishness in the back of my mind
Don't want to spend the rest of my days giving yesterday's promises
No more giving my mind away
Tomorrow's love will be yesterday
Don't want to spend the rest of my days living yesterday
Don't want to spend the rest of my days singing yesterday's love songs"
i love this song. always was part of my mixed tapes to gf's. i still cant get enough of this band.
THis song is amazing. The harmonies ..and this heavy lyrics. Just unbeliveable.
Ugh... this song takes me back... when life was easy and I had no real responsibilities!!! Stay young kids, and listen to good music!

Damn, I was playing and singing along but that cat made me screw up at the end. So hilarious!
@MangaMoogleMan < when I listen to the Descendents it reminds me of my old skate day's 89-93.
What a great tune !!
Bill's snare is just so cool

@mcslowpoke I can clearly hear "I" instead of "you". Here's another version I've found on Google: "I feel my heart though you're knocking on wood". Anyway, thanks for your reply :)
Isn't this on Enjoy?
Yeah but I probably just grabbed a random image off of Google.

@dirtykittymew13 Spoken like a true connoisseur.
what does he sing at 1:08?
the lyrics I've found on google are "you feel my heart girl, you're knocking on wood" but I hear "I feel my heart could knock on wood". English is not my first language so I'm not sure...

@roma1747 It sure does. You forgot to add bud to that list. Damn skater girls were the hottest.

inb4 shitstorm
DON'T WANT TO SPEND THE REST OF MY DAYS IN MY YESTERDAYS
@Magnum116 enjoy, summery
Felipe Fernandes
why is the background "everything sucks" this is on "I don't want to grow up"
Its a clever visual metaphor to personify the abstract concept of thought.
no, its inaccurate
You are completely correct, I'll get to changin' that immediately.
This song is on "Enjoy!", not "I Don't Want To Grow Up."
the songs on enjoy bro
lol no fuckin way man i just thot about my goosebumps there when i read ure comment thts some freeeky shit !

The internet is a strange place
Ugh, you like One Direction videos - this band is not for you.
Luke Rogers huh?
+Austin Baker I was replying to the guy that originally commented. Not you.
+Luke Rogers oh
Fuck dude, this song...
+
aww niggggaaaa
I think Saves The Day actually did a good cover, but don't get me wrong, the original is better, and Saves The Day is my favorite band.
Hut
best song on a crap album. the toilet paper cover is appropriate.
+Shane Bales Get the time and Sour Grapes are nice pop tunes :D...
You are crazy man, I guess its your opinion but maybe its a bit harsh isn't it.
+Shane Bales Get the time, Sour Grapes, That song... Seriouslly? Crap Album? Take it easy, dud...
you are stupid?
Milo goes to college > Enjoy > Everything Sucks
These are my top 3 Descendents albums in that order, but that's like, my opinion, man.
