This guy:it's gonna barely it us and be historical Me:*gets wiped out by hurricane Harvey* Everyone: Dorian will be so historical and may be worse than Harvey even though it barley made landfall
Logan is right. Listen people, hurricane Andrew devastated Florida on 1992. It was coming just like this Dorian and people lost everything, they did not have electricity for 3 months. Their houses, nothing was left of them. The guy with the boat, don't joke, you will loose it. I live in PR. Maria was a monster, no communication, no cellular communication, no phones, no electricity at least 7 months on where I live. You better get lots of drinking water, lots of cash because everything will be closed and you will need cash to be able to buy anything, ATMs will not be working, fill your tanks with gas and get at least 3,x 5 gallon tanks filled too. Food-, get canned food at least 2 cans per day for each person for 3 months. Supermarkets will be closed or ripped apart. Check on Andrew's videos here and you will see how Florida was left. Here in PR we had more than 3,000 deaths. If you live on the beach or close, leave immediately, don't wait for the winds to start to leave your place, you won't be able to. Go now! I will be praying for you. Most houses over there are wood, they won't hold. Mine is all cement including ceiling and my glass window, the only one I had in glass was the first to go on Maria. My husband and I had bought a new door which was not installed yet and we had to put it against that window because the wind was so terrifying that our furniture was being moved by it, inside the house, yes, you read well, inside. Good luck, God Bless you.

Things I would pack as well, let’s say for a family with a infant or toddler, for a infant you would want to pack 2-3 cases of diapers, don’t bring them in the box, if the bag they are wrapped in looks secure take that, if not package them in ziplock freezer bags and put them in a backpack with multiple compartments, you’ll want to use ziplock bags for things like baby powder and bottle nipples if your not breastfeeding, there are special formulas that are prepackaged in bottles, check expiration dates on these premixed ones as you may not have access to clean drinking water, if you know there will be clean water package 2 cases of your choice brand baby formula in small recycling bags and tie shut until you are at a dry area, make sure to pack wipes, pacifiers, and medications, package clothing in zip lock bags as well, you will want multiple clothing for infants and check diapers frequently, if that blue line is showing change the diaper right away
