I actually use this meter more often than I use my Fluke. I have a lot of projects where I use PWM controlled LEDs and I use the square wave output for testing the mosfet drivers.
I bought this meter over 2 years ago, it was even cheaper back then. Have used daily since then, and it has worked verry well for me. Batteries last really long in it too, and its small so its easy to bring along.
Thanks for the review! I have been using a similar AN8009 model. The original leads crapped out after a week or so. My main gripe with this meter is its weight, rather its lack of it. The meter ir so light, that the weight of leads alone tip it over. The stand does not work. Also one needs to use both hands when switching ranges. But the small size means it fits into a glovebox easily. So I keep this meter in my car - it is perfect for automotive application.
A couple of the ranges 1% was mentioned when it was actually displaying 0.1%. I've had one for a while, does what you expect it to. Only complaints are the screen can be hard to read in certain lighting or at some angles, its small and weighs nothing so moving the probes tends to move it around sometimes, the backlight & auto off timers can be pretty annoying, and the auto ranging could be a bit faster. That said in reality if I was looking to spend twice as much I'd probably still get the same meter with the addition of a set of better probes, there is just not many cheap 9999 count meters out there that are reasonably accurate, have a quick buzzer, take AA or AAA, and can do capacitance/hz.

AC is a bit bandwidth restricted, will give AC measuring error due to complex waveforms. Best suited to mains AC without too much wave distortion. Phase control and current in capacitive rectified load situations starts to get erroneous.
Of course to add it is NOT true RMS, so the value reading for other than pure sine is rather misleading anyway, as it is really only valid as the value is a sine equivalent 'calibrated' value anyhow, not even considering added complex wave error only makes value less relevant, but nice would be at least reading audio frequency voltages, but rolling off at a bit over 1KHz is more limiting.
@@marko6550 of course there are several chip solutions, and DSP ca0abilities help enormously. A lot of the single chip, analog, RMS solutions had severe crest factor limits by the analog square, but somewhat solved in log/process/antilog hardware. Again the cheap end DMMs do not provide the best precision. DSP requires fast A/D conversions, at least if adequate bandwidth is provided. Again few low end DMMs are DSP based. However RMS was not my prime issue, but for truely useful function, I regard 1KHz bandwidth is bad. Modern systems can easily provide more, and makes useful measuring in other than mains AC frequency, eg AC power, rectifier systems supply of use. Forget measurements involving even typical audio circuits. Other than power panel, motor jocks only dealing in mains forget using one with 1KHz limit.
I have two Aneng meters, one of which is an AN8008. Both are built of poor quality plastics that easily crack and scratch. The LCD bezel on my AN8008 seems to scratch by just looking at it. After buying and owning two Aneng I will never again purchase another Aneng product. Both of my Aneng meters and the EEvblog 121GW are useless for measuring capacitors below 2nF. Looks a nice little digital meter. I do sometimes wonder if it’s possible to buy a real awful meter these days. For most people including me even a £2 meter would be good enough for me in terms of accuracy. But electrical safety is more my concern with low cost meters. So I would normally spend my money on an old fluke than a modern low cost DVM. I have also noticed a few meters that have a 1000 volts printed on them only measure to 600v.
I was able to measure up to 32Mhz square wave at 5 volts using really short leads. Maybe your test leads were attenuating the higher frequencies? I was just probing the clock output pin of a microcontroller using leads a few inches long.
My AN8008 has a fault, and I bought it at a shop at Alibaba. The kind of fault let me think that every AN8008 has it. I don't get an replace from the shop, to see if it is single fault. I send them picture's and a video from the problem. My AN8008 can't measure AC currents between 1mA and 10mA, it shows normally about 0mA. It's only at AC not at DC currents. I think it has something to do with the plug of higher current, which is necessary to use by currents >1mA. I proofed it so easily, by putting another Multimeter in series. This can't measure RMS, but this doen't matter because I only used 50Hz sinus from an transformer. What do the others AN8008 ? Have they the same fault or mailfunction ?
Please point me to any other reviewer that is testing these meters as thoroughly… if I’m not good enough then your expectations are way too high, maybe start your own channel and make these mythically perfect videos.

I'd like you to do a test that Marco Reps did to a cheap multimeter he tested: check if the leads can suffer the 10amps the meter is rated for.
Been using a AN8002 for a few years. Very nice meter for hobbyist use and ridiculously cheap.
Think I replaced the probes with sharper ones.
