One other thing I would say is that little bit of rust is still the beginning of what will get worse. POR 15 has a rust encapsulator you can apply that will stop rust from getting worse. Then put the POR 15 paint over it and the rust will stop. They aint making these trucks any more, dont let this one get rusted away. Just dont put any of that rubber undercoating on it, that makes it worse. One of the reasons this truck isnt rusted real bad is because it has basically no undercoating. That stuff just traps moisture between it and the metal and makes it rust faster.
I owned a 1970 2wd 304. Paid $200 in 1992. Another $200 for a hard to find windshield. Only good thing was gas was $1 gallon on a truck that got 10mpg.
Im not sold on the paint being all original, my reason for this is that the truck should have had the fuel tyank behind the seat and the fuel cap was on the drivers side of the cab just behind the door. This truck has dual tanks, bujt what happened to the standard behind the seat tank? I think someone took it out and the whole truck was painted. Then later the fender got replaced and they did a blow in on it. Just my thoughts, not 100% sure but who knows? Also, the first guy who commented is right about the engines. There was no big or small block, the v-8 was the same block from the 266 through the 392 and the 4 cyl was just a v-8 block turned on its side and a different crank in it
I have a 1970 1200d 4x4 that has NO fuel tank behind seat tank is under passenger side of cab
And the 392 345 block is different taller deck height,, than 304
Fuel cap on passenger side not drivers
