    if the given is year=2004 and variation is 12degree 15'W and annual change=incresing (E) how i solve this sir

    • @marinoguide
      @marinoguide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Juvy! Please note that if same sign, this means that the variation is increasing and different sign means variation is decreasing. Based on the given that you stated, we can infer that it is DECREASING since the Variation is West and the Annual Change is East. In this case, you will subtract the annual change to the variation.
      I hope this clears up your question.

    • @marinoguide
      @marinoguide  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi CJ! Thanks for asking a question. The answer really is 2*47’.
      4*15’
      - 1 *28’
      1 degree is equal to 60’. Since we cant subract 15’ to 28’, we have to borrow from 4*. Thus, it will become like this:
      3*75’
      - 1*28’
      -----
      2*47’
      I hope this answer your question. If you have any clarification, you can comment again and i will reply ASAP.

      Hi Kent. Then you should perform the operation. Same sign add, different sign subtract.

    • @marinoguide
      @marinoguide  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Let’s say that the annual change is 3’E. And the variation is 2 degrees E. Here, you will see that they have the same sign or direction which means that variation is increasing because it will give an answer of 2 degrees 3 minutes East.
      But if the variation is 2 degrees west with an annual change of 3’ E, then, variation is decreasing.
      Hope that this answers your questions and also, I mentioned this part on the video. Kindly refer to the part of problem solving where directions were discussed. Cheers mate!

    I dont understand how you subtract the 1 degree 28 minutes form the 4 degrees 15 minutes in your example. I keep coming up with 2 degrees 87 minutes. You example says its 2 degrees 47 minutes.

    • @marinoguide
      @marinoguide  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Face Diaper, thank you for taking your time watching my video.
      The answer 2°47' is correct.
      From the given, you can't subtract 15' from 28', so you need to borrow from 4°. We know that 1° is equal to 60'. Since we are going to borrow, we have to add 60' to 15' which is equal to 75'.
      75' - 28' = 47'.
      From 4°, it will become 3° because we borrowed a whole 1 degree. So, 3° - 1°, it will become 2°.
      Therefore, the final answer will be: 2° 47'.
      Also, please refer to 5:03 of this video where I mention that 60 minutes is equal to 1 degree.
      I hope this answer your question. Should there be any confusion, feel free to comment or reply this message. Thank you and have a nice day!

    88÷60 = 1.5

    • @marinoguide
      @marinoguide  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      88/60 = 1.46666667 degrees.
      To convert it to minutes, subtract the degree part (which is 1 degree) then multiply it by 60
      0.4666667x60= 28 minutes.
      Therefore, 1 degree and 28 minutes
