    when my brother was a kid, he climbed the tree in our front yard, dressed as spider-man, and wanted to give out candy to kids that came by. i don’t remember the specifics but he came back in not long after crying saying that some kids had come by and attacked him in some way. i’m only 4 years older than him, i had to have been around 9 i imagine... i went back out and waited for the kids and gave them a tongue lashing when they came by to mess with him some more. they didn’t come back after that. it still breaks me heart to this day that all he wanted to do was be a sweet kid and he got beat on for it.

    ....this hit me hard. When I was 14, I watched my little brother get held down and hit by my birth mother’s husband. She said she wouldn’t help him when my brother called out her name. I had just gotten out of the shower and climbed up the basement stairs. I’m now 21 and that event changed my life. I moved out with him that same day and stayed at my dads place permanently. After a year I came out as a lesbian to my birth mom, and she called it disgusting. Ever since then I’ve realized that family is what you make it. I started to take martial arts to protect my real family. Never again will he lay his hands on my brother. Never again will I stand aside and watch it happen. Never again will I be threatened by him for who I am. Mom you once told me that “this is love.” Ive grown since then. I’m old enough to know what real love is. I found a woman who I love with all my heart, and a family who loves me for who I am. Thank you for bringing me into this world.

    even though am the younger sibling, i have a story. so this was almost 2 years ago, i was about 10 ane he was 13. we were at a camp where you could learn to program, code, make games and things like that. it was break time and my brother was outside with a few kids around his age. i was inside when i looked out the window, and saw a stuck up, 12-13 year old blonde brat push my brother on the floor. i completley ran outside, and started smack talking her, and snapped and pushed her on the floor. i feel so proud whenever i think of that. nobody can bully my brother, except for me.

      usually parents expect older siblings to be in charge of the rest, parents don't even bother teaching their older kids on how to take care of them.
      they expect the older ones to already know how to do things, but they don't even teach them, yet they expect a good job. with that either the older siblings become bad examples or become mature enough by themselves to take care of their smaller siblings

    I have a little brother, we were 13 years apart, we were close right until age 15, he started guitar lessons, then he started to hang with the wrong groups, my biggest regret was not being there, because he didn't want me around anymore, I told my parents that this hobby is great, but it also comes with drugs problems, no one believed me, til the day he went mentally ill, I love my brother so much but my heart cracks when he doesn't remember his family and walks around in circles talking to himself, I blamed myself for not being there, let him do whatever he wanted. Now I have a son and I will godly try my best to raise him.

      wrong. they need guidance from the parents. not us older siblings (except if you are so much older and wiser than him). because I remember and regretted the way I treat my brother and never truly taught him every little wisdom I know, because I was a stupid child that had no such guidance from my parents either, I just treat him as immaturely as I was at that age and now I regretted for ever thinking like a kid at that age and regretted for not being old enough or wise enough then. It baffles me for parents to expect older siblings by few years to educate and nurture their younger children.

    My older brother was always pretty jealous of me. Being 6 years younger and being the baby of the family got me a lot of attention. Unfortunately a lot of times he took that out on me. He was never very brotherly. We fought like cats and dogs, hardly ever got along, never really spent quality time with each other (although I really wanted to). So when i got a bit older and he asked me if I wanted to play a game with him, i was pretty excited and happy to see he finally wanted to spend time with me. That "game" was doctor. And it was the start of years of sexual assault/molestation that didnt end fully until I was 17. When he had a job and could buy things he would bribe me with things he said he'd buy if I did him favors. I'm 23 now and I've never talked to my brother about this. Idk if we will ever have a good, stable relationship.

    I admit I never really defend my younger sisters when they face problems. It’s not from the lack of care, but because I want them to resolve it themselves. My parents always told me to protect my younger siblings, I thought my job was to look out for them while my parents had my back. But then one day I had my cousin over. He was upset about something and decided to take it out on me, he bit my stomach and ripped my flesh off then bit me again refusing to let go like an animal. I punched him in the face and broke his nose in self defence. But instead of defending me, my parents made me apologise to him because they didn’t want conflict with my extended family. It was because I hit the only grandson in my family, they wanted me to believe I was in the wrong saying a girl should never be violent. I really felt my parents had failed me and my sisters because they witnessed how awkward and helpless I felt in that situation. I decided my parents can’t give me the protection I need, so I’ve grown to be very strict and independent. I just want my sisters to be able to stand up for themselves, but still understand that I care about them and that I’m always ready to defend them in dire situations.

    Just got this recommended out of nowhere, now I’m all emotional. I have 2 sisters whom I secretly used to loath all because I wanted a brother when I was a kid. I only tolerated them. The game changer for me was when someone hit my immediate sister and I went all Bruce lee on the person. I have never taken any self defense classes and I was pretty surprised about my combat skills. The antagonist in question is a bulky kid whom was a bully at Quran classes. I was 13 and he was around 16. I hardly got along with my sister before that incident. I would lay down my life to protect my sisters, most importantly we lost our mom 6 years ago. It hurts, life sucks. I’m 21 now, working 2 hospital jobs and schooling just to provide for me and my sisters and support my dad. It’s really draining.

    This happened to me except instead of my brother, it's a good friend of mine. Me and my friend were walking through town and some dude we were walking past called me a chink. I don't like conflict as a person and I have learned to just brush off racist comments. However, my friend decided to stand up to the bully. They went face to face, staring each other down. I was standing to their side, trying to separate them with one arm but not physically getting in between them. Then the guy punched my friend straight in the eye.
    After that moment, I saw how selfless of an act it was. He didn't have to defend me, but he did it anyways, because that's what it means to be a friend. To stand up for the people that are dear to you. I feel ashamed because I could have done more to help my friend. But from that moment, as someone who doesn't have many friends, I've now gained a deep appreciation for the people around me. I've learned that I must do my best to stand up for others, because if someone is willing to go out their way to defend me, then I'm sure as hell going to do the same.
    Thank you for sharing this story. It means a lot
    to people like me who can relate to your experience. Best wishes Frank.

      I'm a middle child, I've experienced both perspectives,
      I'm bitchy to my younger sibling, but also love her a lot. She used to side with me, now she sides with my older brother at unesscesary times, she'd do his chores for him, she'd lie for him(for no reason) just cause he told her some of his sob stories.
      Sometimes I'd even cry alone , I don't know the reason why they decided to go against me.
      I only cry alone because I cry iver stupid reasons , it's hard to explain why you're crying to your parents just because of a stupid thing.
      And for 4 years now, I've been avoiding my older brother, I don't remember what caused it,maybe because my parents let him off the hook easily when he emotionally harms me(like leaving no food for me, actually making fun of me with my parents as a "joke", he's pretentious as fuck, an angel when our parents are there,but is a demon when they aren't, he's a close minded fuck, he'd ask questions during our fights but never lets me speak)
      There is a saying that people can forget what you did to them ,but they can never forget how you made them feel.

    Thanks for sharing Frank. I'm so happy that you're back on youtube and have been uploading videos every Sunday lately. I'm watching from the UK, and I usually get a notification of your upload around 11pm UK time just before I go to sleep. Your story always gives me a fresh perspective and positivity before the start of the working week.
    I've always had a strenuous relationship with my siblings, but your video reminds me that it doesn't have to be this way - no one is perfect, so a little bit of understanding and love can go a long way. I'm happy that you have such a wonderful relationship with your family, even during these difficult times with your mum.
    Coincidentally, it's mothers day in the UK today - so the ending segment was really relevant and touches on a lot of the things I've been thinking about today when reflecting on my own mum. My mum is really awesome, she came to the UK when she was 30 with no qualifications and zero english. She ended up having 3 kids and always made our education and comfort her top priority. She took us to church and showed us how unwavering faith and love for God can change lives. She somehow managed to provide for us and get us all into university despite having a low-income job. Heck - she even had the foresight to get a mortgage on our apartment, which we've also literally just paid off this weekend.
    Mothers are amazing, I don't know how they do it. I'll be praying for you and your family as always - and remember that God is good!

    Thanks for sharing this video. I also have a little brother, and I think back to all these times I was so wrong to him. We fought a lot, mostly my fault. The time he was saying “asha asha!” (The ‘Extra’ chant) and I punched him because I found it annoying and my grandmother punished me. The time he was playing one of my video games without my permission and I kicked him in the nose and stormed out of his room. He was even bleeding and crying... and at the time I didn’t even care. All I cared about was my stupid video game being touched and how angry I was at him for just trying to have some fun. I was so greedy and selfish. The time my sister’s stupid ex boyfriend convinced us we should fight each other so we did and he was so enraged.. I feel like a monster for the way I treated him. It’s only now that I’m older, wiser and more mature that I think about these times and how awful I really was. I was abusive, not just to him, but I even kicked my poor dog out of anger one time when she did absolutely nothing to me. I was such a hot head. I still am, and I still get angry and yell, but only when no one else is around. I’ve been able to control myself not to hurt anyone or anything else when I’m upset because even my dog seems to be less excited to see me ever since I did that to her. When you bring pain on someone you love, it’s never the same. My brother and I don’t talk much. We lived together for a few months last year when the pandemic hit and he wasn’t very close with me. I think he still vividly remembers the wrongs I’ve done to him and it makes him more wary of me. I can never undo that. It breaks my heart and I wonder if we would be close and talk more often if I was better at controlling my anger as a kid. Now, I’m not close with either of my siblings. We go months to years without speaking and when we do, it’s never like it used to be. Things are so different now. I don’t live near them. I call my mom often because she helps me cope with the never ending pain of existence and I appreciate her so much for doing whatever she can to be there for me. I just wish I didn’t destroy my relationships with my siblings. I feel like there’s no fixing them. I’ve tried saying sorry but I guess it just isn’t enough. So treat your family well. When you mess up, it can be really hard to fix it, maybe impossible, and it’s made me a lonely, remorseful adult.

      @@ice1cube hey thanks a ton that’s a really supportive and kind response and I appreciate you understanding. Of course I’m ashamed of my past but it’s relieving to know other people go through these things too. I wish the best with your family. Maybe this video is what a lot of people needed to see to mend some past relationships and pain so I appreciate people like you putting out real stuff like this. I hope you and your family are closer than ever.

    Kids are insane little narcissists. My older brother would torment me so much when I was young but hey I’ll admit I didn’t the same to my younger brother. Wasn’t until we all grew up, aren’t going through puberty, that we all get along and respect each other

      It’s because younger siblings are a nuisance until they are Atleast 13 or 14.

      @bebaios 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      kids are not insane little narcissists. Some kids are taught to be insane little narcissists, it's different. It's the society and the parenting the problem. It's the common thought, especially in eastern countries, that the younger sibling has to respect the older one.
      It is always a matter of education.

      @bebaios 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Sequoiah Dreams Agree. Luckily we are finally making some changes (ecology, green choices, veganism, feminism, antiracism antisexism..the list is beautifully long) tho there is still A LOT to fix

      @@bebaios i think its just common sense to respect your older siblings unless they do something not worthy of that respect. Because 9/10 theyre gonne be the first ones to help u, comfort you, etc the list goes on. When ur mom is gone.

      @bebaios 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gawdlysiinz5134 I am from a western country in which it doesn't work like this, that's why I find it odd. With this I don't mean to impose my thoughts or costumes at all. But I personally think that yes, an older sibling can be a huge help to a younger one, but the respect should be reciprocated. From both sides. I think it would be the best to teach to respect. Period. When you respect anyone, as the younger sibling you learn to respect the older sibling because he/she is more experienced and can take more responsability, and as the older sibling you respect the younger one too because he/she is still a human with his/her needs.
      I don't know...I simply think equality should be taught, because when you recognize someone as your equal that respect you as much you respect him/her, you are willing to...be respectful and to behave for the best.
      Maybe it's an idealistic point of view, but I think education has to be realistic but also based on neutral and "clean" principles, which are idealistic.
