  • Jag såg ett folk, som kunde allt,
    Blott ej sin ära svika,
    Jag såg en här, som frös och svalt
    Och segrade tillika;
    Mitt öga flög från blad till blad,
    Jag velat kyssa varje rad.
    I farans stund, i stridens brand
    Vad mod hos denna skara!
    Hur kunde, arma fosterland,
    Du dock så älskat vara,
    En kärlek få, så skön, så stark,
    Av dem du närt med bröd av bark!
    Näin kansan kaikki koittavan
    edestä kunniansa;
    näin sotajoukon voittavan
    nälissään, viluissansa.
    Jokaista sanaa, lukeissain,
    suudella tahdoin innossain.
    Vaarassa, tulen keskellä
    tuon parven urhoutta!
    Mill' ansaitsit, maa raukka, sä
    noin suurta rakkautta,
    noin kallis kuinka olla voit,
    kun leiväks pettua vaan soit!

    My great grandfather, Ilmari, fought for 5 years in the wars. After that, he had had so enough of it, that he didn't even want to see a single firearm for the rest of his life: His son, and my grandfather, Tauno, would often clean his hunting shotgun at the house, but Ilmari would tell him to go elsewhere to do it, usually just outside of the woods.
    No-one comes back from war unscarred. My upmost respect goes to the veterans, who fought for our country and peoples, at the cost of their own minds, souls and bodies, against those Bolshevik marauders.
    "Everything is self-made, except your own wife" - Ilmari Lehtimäki
    Rest in peace and forever thank you for your service.

      @@user-ef5bl8ss3o The bolsheviks weren't Russians, they hated Russia and her people, they hated what Russia traditionally stood for and what all of Europe stood for. They declared war on European manifestation as a culture & peoples by their mere existence. Your patriotism contradicts communist ideology.
      Your use of "fascist" comes directly from intellectually lazy communists who use the term to mean everyone who doesn't buy into the sick marxist ideology.
      Karelia belongs to the Finnic peoples, not so to bolshies who destroyed its culture & ensIaved it to communism like every other area they took over, one day we will take it back and it will be officially our people's land again, the Russian opinion, less so the communist opinion, on Finno-Ugric freedom is irrelevant, it's either that or we are indeed enemies.

      3. Wow, basically the same as 2, but you actually think Finland attacked the Soviet Union in the Winter War? Literal commie propaganda. Maybe during the civil war, but that was justified because we wanted to liberate Karelia from communism, and reds had literally tried to overthrow Finland at that time and USSR supported it.

    My grandfather, now 84 years old, has lived without a father since he was 3 years old. In the same year when the continuation war had begun, his father died in the very same swamp crossing, which the famous movie Unknown Soldier tells. Still, my grandfather has raised his son and me well, and especially I've grown up to a good fatherland-loving Finnish man. I couldn't even imagine living life during the after-war depression and overall my whole life without intimacy of a loving father.

    Thank you heroes! 🫡 🇫🇮 Broud to be Finn 🇫🇮
    The parents, grandparents or great-grandparents of all of us Finns fought in the winter war. The whole nation together, there were so few of us that everyone had to participate. Eventually even the children. "Isoviha" of the 18th century was not to be repeated.
    At that "Isoviha" time, the Russians killed a large part of the Finns and kidnapped more than 30,000 children who were never found. So in the winter war the Finns knew what will happen if the soviet union gets through. There were no options. And still isn't.

      I wouldn't know about that, depends on what you are looking at. In football, yeah, you are much, much safer betting on Russia. In ice hockey it could easily go either way. In motor sports, bet on Finns, unless you have specific info on the case. I guess numerically Russians would be stronger if you consider all sports. Not a huge surprise as Russia has a huge pool to draw talent from, compared to Finland. Thus you wouldn't typically even compare a large country and a small country in such a universal fashion.

    True facts on Karelia instead of propaganda::: A clean example of why certain wars are bound to happen. Sweden as a kingdom had in earlier centuries conquered all of Finland and one province of Russia kingdom::: the Russian kingdom of Karelia which starts on the suburban outskirts of Saint Petersburg. . When Sweden gave independence to Finland, Sweden gave conquered Karelia province to newly independent Finland. Actually on maps imperial Sweden had already started drawing the maps of Karelia into the maps of Finland even before Sweden gave independence to Finland. Why should Finland give Karelia to Russia unless there is a war. This meant war:: There was a war. Next a war is bound to happen, as Finland will say Karelia belongs to them.

    • @herrakaarme
      @herrakaarme 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Your history is kind of messed up. In the first place, Russia is a bit too young of a country to have much say in that. Finland (although it wasn't Finland back then) became a part of the Kingdom of Sweden back when Russia didn't even exist yet, and wouldn't exist for quite some time. Sweden's neighbour was Novgorod (or Kievan Rus if you want to call it that), then Moscow. It was also the Mongol Empire for a while since they conquered Novgorod and Moscow. Sweden and Novgorod/Moscow's, later Sweden and Russia's, border was up to much dispute. Not a great surprise considering there wasn't a single century of peace between those nations. Saint Petersburg itself was a town founded by Swedish colonists in a land occupied by a Finnic tribe.
      Also, Sweden never gave an independence to Finland. Finland was the East Sweden, an integral part of the kingdom. Under the Russian rule Finland because an entity of its own, with quite a large autonomy. Finland resembling anything like a nation was thus born in 1809.
