I feel that your brief overview videos have a great effect. You are showing off games that we might not normally see, many of which are smaller budget, independent games. That alone is helping to make a difference.
If I'm honest, YES let it all burn to the Ashes of its own making. Both the Game Industry (the AAA industry at least) and the Games Media have shown they have ZERO Standards or Integrity, so let them burn and the new generation will rise from the ashes and rubble. I feel as though we are going though a "Changing of the Guard" for Better and/or for Worse. The world has changed, it is not what it used to be. No one's asking you to change the world Scarlet, I think all most people want these days is a HONEST Opinion. Hell I swear Angry Joe and his Angry Reviews are the only time anymore I see the X out of 10 system actually USED correctly. As opposed to the 7 to 10, 4 or 5 stars that "game media" uses, cus god forbid they offend someone. I feel like those words describe alot of things these days "Oh No, that might offend someone!", to which I reply "And? That just means I'm doing something right."
If we watch it burn you can't influence where it ends up. Apathy about your passions leads to the death of joy. Fight to uphold standards win or lose. Some times people just need to see the banner still flying in order to rally and fight on.
That is true, but not necessarily opposed to "letting it burn". When organizations/industries/civilizations become stagnant, they are nearly impossible to course correct. What is needed in trying times isn't people trying to fix the system, but people sidestepping the systems to create their own new ones. I.E. rally the banner for a small, dedicated crowd while letting the worthless systems burn.
Don't know what Enigma is but an important part of being an experienced consumer is the capability to quickly determine whether something is valuable to you, or at all. the quicker and more accurate the better.
Hey Scarlet, I reckon you are making the right call. There will no doubt be too many games you would review that you will pick apart and wish you have never spent X hours on to review. Your overview (Worth your time and money) videos are a version you can spend a lot less time on and, in many instances, would still come to the same conclusion if you had played for 18 hours.
Greed always leads to destruction. The AAA industry will implode like it is now and has before but the void will start a new gold rush of creativity and competition. That's how golden ages are started. It would be a much less turbulent process if lawmakers were half as good at their jobs as they think they are and prevented the monopolies that create stagnation to begin with.
Late 90's early 2000's the games media, in the Netherlands at least, most definitely was not a extension of the publishers nor people hoping to score a job as journalists at a news paper. Games media was seen as you not being a real journalist. Game journo's back then did write about the games, what made them good, what bugs did they run into, etc. Yeah they would go to events and such, that never changed but back then Publishers tried their best to stay on the good side of games media cause they needed the advertisement space and such. AAA games F'ing up would mean a score of a 4 or lower without hesitation, now they would get a 7. We had/have a magazine called Power Unlimited, it was by gamers for gamers, it was a really great magazine back in the days. They did not shy away from being brutally honest, and heck they every now and then would make a joke of a review that might have gone over peoples heads, like how they gave Dead or Alive beach volleyball a higher score then Zelda back then, with the reasoning that Zelda did the same trick over and over again, looked like a kiddy game while DOA Volleyball had boobies with physics, there for it would score higher then a kiddy looking game that did the exact same trick as always xD Sadly they fall to the woke management as well for the last few years. You could tell what games would score high and any form of criticism towards the industry was kept out of the magazine. The lead guy was a SJW, who looked to much at his American buddies at the game press. He used to be a sexists (his own words, but yeah he made some remarks in that very same magazine in the past about female characters), but he got a SJW girlfriend and bam he was a changed man, and forced it down everyone's throat that many of the writers left the magazine cause of it and in the last few years cost them a lot of subscribers as well to a point the magazine was about to get canceled. Then two months ago suddenly a new guy took over. The old one got fired, the publisher had enough of that crap it seems. The new guy worked at the magazine before, I never really liked him but he brought back a whole bunch of the old crew and we see it now with the last 2 magazines that all the SJW nonesense is removed and they write about games again, and game events, do interviews with people in the industry, brought back beloved items they used to have but were removed or downsized. I hope it means they can keep going and won't have to close down in a year, cause we should applaud games media that do change for the better and hopefully we reach a point again were they don't care if they get a review copy in time or not so the publishers won't have too much power anymore over the scores.
I tried to finish L.A.Noire a while back on my updated tv but the framerate seems so bad now its literally unplayable. I would happily pay for a next gen patch but they won't do it lol. I dont really think the industry is burning, but I get what you mean about integrity in the world of reviewing. I just had an experience yesterday that relates to that. I just bought a PSVR2 on impulse and have pretty quickly realised that the resolutions on games are nothing like we were led believe. Not that I hate the system. But it was eye opening because literally no one ever mentions this. It made me realise that the VR reviewers on YT who are super ra ra for VR are actually selling the industry when I thought they were 100% genuine enthusiasts. Not that they aren't enthusiasts, but theres a transparency gap there. If you can accept it its fine, but its good to know the flaws that are there.
The issue with the game is that it was the first game that did Motion cap like with live actors and etc and the games framerate is locked due to that tech at the time, if they unlocked the fps it would break the entire game. The studio is also dead and gone they dont maintain it nobody is around to do the work.
@pilsplease7561 I'm sure you're right about unlocking the framerate, but I think they could still make it run better somehow. I don't imagine it runs this bad on pc. And Rockstar could do something if they wanted to. They still own the IP. Like I say, they won't, but I can still hope!
I don't know about you, first video of yours. As a job or content creator. You have to love what you do or you become burned out. As for video game reviews and why I clicked on this video. EVERYTHING rises and falls. We as a society NEED to let things fall. From the ashes, a new cycle will be born. The investors, business people need to get their head out of their.... and stop funding remakes and start funding these mid tier games. Because if they did, they would find more top tier games that define the industry. Instead of pushing all this political nonsense. But maybe thet's the problem with investors that they are only seeing games with political nonsense. There isn't anything worth investing in so they jump to the remake. Which means Schools need to change their approach. Well that isn't going to happen because they've been ideologically captured. So it's left to the indie developers to come up with compelling games. People willing to go against the river and on their own. Which is very difficult for someone to take on. Let alone someone that can create something that will define the industry.
The gaming industry has to many woke idiots in it, so repairing the industry isn't possible. The gaming industry MUST crash before any healing can start.

Just stop preordering slop. It's not difficult.
I support you. You have a good niche. Keep it up as long as you enjoy it.

They can save themselves at any time by just making good games and stop insulting their consumer base.

New studios will rise from the ashes. Fire is great for fertilizing fields. XD

Hmm.
Perhaps it was better back then because non-bias journalists who did not intend to stay in the industry long-term were usually more honest.
its called capitalism, don't pay for stuff you don't want and pay for what you want, they learn or they go bankrupt.

All I took from this is that you're very intermittent and irresponsible to have lost a game in your library for ten years.
The gaming industry has to many woke idiots in it, so repairing the industry isn't possible.

bruh just get back to doing lets plays and shit.
