I once dried green beans in my car parked outside. Actually sewed them on a thread and hung thread like clothesline across back seat, each end on coat hanger deal above back doors. 👵🏼🐞
If you needed to dehydrate more, your's can hold double or triple the racks shown here, and still work as efficient. Thankyou! I love my big electric dehydrator, but in our hot climate, this seems wise, and would still do essential work during power outages.
Just a thought and looked on ebay hanging solar dehydrator and possible put in small black grow tent with solar fan to move air . Think I just created another project for myself .
Hi Minted Lady ..ur garden is cool I love it ... Just found u on UTube and will continue to follow ... u rock love ur dehydrator and ur rocket stove... keep up thr hreat work
I'm going to put the shelves close together, replace the screens and the top with plexiglass and use screen on the bottom. Might work faster and winter Sun could also be used?
We are creating an off grid homestead, but my main concern was good preservation. This will be a huge help to limit our solar needs. I'm wondering where you are located though? We have humidity in South Carolina so I'm not sure if that will effect it
I’m in southern idaho, it’s extremely dry here. The humidity may have an affect but if you choose sunny, breezy days and keep your food cut into small/thin pieces it will probably still work.
These were gifted to me for a friend, so I don’t have a link unfortunately. But you can get them at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or even on Amazon. Just type in mesh plastic canvas and it should come right up :) I hope that helps.
We live in Cyprus, and use home grown ingredients in our handmade soaps. This is a great idea as puree in soap takes forever to harden. Dried and ground is our way forward. Thanks for showing. Please check out our soaps we sell to fund our dog sanctuary.❤
Might be ok if it is sunny and breezy, but I don’t have personal experience. I’ve heard lots of suggestions to dehydrate inside of a hot car but have not tried that either
@@TheMintedMaiden ok thanks for the comeback, trying to do mushrooms now to grind up into sprinkling powder, kinda hard in florida humidity . take care
Greetings Miss Minted Maiden! I want to know if it is possible to dry meat & fish in this type of dehydrator. Looking forward to your reply, thanks :-)
You’d want to look into more traditional, open-air meat preserving methods! You may be able to use a tool similar to mine, but apply other techniques such as salting. I believe there are plenty of ways that this has been done for hundreds of years by indigenous people and others. I’m sure the addition of salt helps with the preservation but really might want to look more in those directions. I believe there are still cultures today that hang cure meat and fish. I hope that helps.
It won’t work very well. It works best in high temperatures like spring and summer. You’re better off using an oven or electric unit in winter. Hope that helps.
Concerning canning. Don't buy old canning cookbooks. Their safe processing information is out of date. Stick with the Ball canning book and government food preservation websites such as the University of Georgia.

Very innovative! Some people do hot peppers that way too, stringing and hanging them up indoors.
We have mouse plagues here - they get into cars & everything - they would've loved your beans LOL
Best idea. Thank you
Very simple, economical and environmentally friendly which is the way to go this day and future days. Nice one!

What a great example of thinking outside the box! I hope to make a mini version of this method. Thx for sharing!
That’s a really cool idea! Thank you for sharing 😊
Sure! If you try it out, let me know how it goes! I am sure you need some help using up all of those huge harvests over there! lol
If you cover the top with a roof of sorts, won't it prevent the dew?
That's very nice, thanks for sharing! For apartment dwellers, Amazon has hanging dehydrators, non - electric.
Thanks, it's simple to understand and cheap and very effective
Practical use of available resources :)

Brilliant. Thanks for sharing everyone 😊🌎✨
Thanks for the vid ! Where I live, there is tons of free lumber of a suitable dimension. Try cabinetry shops for free offcuts.

@@curtiskjobech9477 good idea, sort of a greenhouse effect. Might work!
This is a WOW. Thanks much!
I live where sun is all year round so i will be making this to start as a new gardener/ homesteader 2024
New subscriber here. Hehe! I love what you do.
Excellent video.
Thanks
I'm thinking about this 🤔
Oo perfect for Phoenix sun n so the kids can experiment 😮
very nice one. Thank you.
I recommend you avoid plastic shelves. Especially with a solar version of cupboard
Hay. She likes a little vitamin C with her micro plastics she consumes.

Im in the Amazon. We have mostly humid heat but I've dried herbs well here.
Thank you for making this video, how long does the food last after its vacuum sealed?❤
Thank you, this is so helpful! ❤️
Nice. I love it
Would you know how much would it cost to in electricity for an electric dehydrator? Thank you.
THANK YOU!!!
Brilliant
It looks like one of those Ikea display cabinets….hmmmmmm, gives me ideas….
Where can we purchase the trays . Can you please provide a link

So nice
I can't keep outside because of monkeys and crows. I kept gooseberry outside and crows spoiled it. India
How well will this do in a humid area. Really like your design.
I can’t say from personal experience, it’s very dry here. But I should think that it would work ok as long as there is a decent breeze.
@@TheMintedMaiden Thank you. I might need to keep track of long humid days and plan accordingly

Come winter you can do it indoors. just sayin. nice job.. Thank.

Thank you!
Look real good but I think it won't be able to keep little bugs away.
I’ve been using it for over a year now and I’ve never had a problem with bugs so far! :)
I'm thinking of dehydrating some meat as treats for my dogs. Is it a good idea to do this?
Really depends on your weather, I think it’s a great idea! Works best in dry, hot weather.

Can u dry in winter time in NC

Sorry, but I could not hear you. Volume?
Bonjour.
Awsome
Shoot, I can't get any sound from this video.
Do u need sun ?
It dries a lot faster in the sun. If you have hot, dry weather, it can dry in the shade ok. But sun really speeds it up.
