Honestly, the most rewarding thing when i gave a vocal lesson was this girl i worked with who in the one(even free at the time as a trial thing bc we're kinda friends, she's some years younger,, like little sister vibes) lesson had such an insane improvement switching from a pretty nasal, tense, sound to smth way more supported and flexible and rounder,, and it felt way easier for her too,,,, it was honestly so rewarding, and like, its a huge change, so its not like itll stick overnight,,, she asked if we could try to arrange some online lessons bc she found working with me to be that helpful and wanted to continue,,,, if id faked it and held back on all the stuff to try and asking her how things felt and what seemed to work or not work, honestly, i kinda doubt her or her parents wouldve asked to keep trying to do lessons after
I kinda had the same experience and have been trying to learn singing by myself like 5 years at this time. Because I want to validate my knowledge and technique about singing, I'm giving a try to go to a vocal coach in my local area and attending 1 on 1 session last year. The lesson is like 1 sessions/week with 50 mnt duration/session. At first we doing some checking like where my singing skills at with the warming up n singing some karaokes and by the end the teacher gave me a card of evaluation in my singing. I mean thats fine for the 1st session but like as the lesson goes on it just going the same as like the 1st session. Bruh I mean like u already know where I'm at why don't we isolate the practice and focus on the technique like how to approach this particular note (i.e F#4-A4, I could hit the note but It's either strain, cracking, or shifting to a really hoodie place at that time.) instead of doing bunch of karaokes that I can't even chose or even bring my own karaoke songs. In the end, I decided to quit after 2 months cause it just not worth it and I'm not improving.
@TheUnnaturalSinger And what really helps me to understand this absurd abstract thing of singing (especially high note) in my self-learning journey are really the older videos that Phill Mou-whateverhisnameis post on his channel. I watch Ken Tamplin first (4-5years ago) its inspirational really, like baritone can hit high notes bla..bl..bla.. cause u know we all thinking we have baritone curse when we struggling to hit F4. But he's giving this 'gate keeping' and 'i am better than anyone else' vibe that I don't really like. That being said these are my thoughts about things that worked for me : - Don't confuse and Over complicate things and terminology when learning, like mixed voice, head voice, falsetto, etc - The important is how it sounds not the terminology - And there are only two things that's matter, either ur voice CONNECTED or DISCONNECTED from your 'Chest' sound. This is just like M1 and M2 in my version. - The first key is to sound clear, strong and relax throughout your entire range. So if u have problem in higher notes, it means ur lower notes sucks, work on it. - At some point (1st bridge) u have to 'lighten the voice' so it can go higher and 'bridge' to the head while still maintaining your 'chest' sound. (Connected sound) - So yeah u have to develop your head voice, falsetto, M2 whatever u call it if u wanna sing highnotes, and i get it about all of this M2 things u talked about. - I rather use the word energy rather than support. Support is confusing as hell. - Breath support is kinda a myth, the breath is already there, its just sometimes fighting and blocked with other unnecessary muscles and led to straining. So just try to keep your upper body relax and ur singing will be much better. With these ideas and practices, I'm able to sing G4-A4 area more comfortable and If i have good enough sleep and rest I can touch somes B4, C5 even tho the tone still not the best, but its doable. Now, I'm focusing on strengthening the A4 area so it strongs and have a consistency with a good tone.

Thats such a great way to put it. All lessons for me were slight variations of the first lesson, too. No clear plan, just keep coming 💀🤣

maybe we should stop begging for that so we can ascend to a new realm of learning and learning M2 instead of parrot singing

Marc, you are great and turned down Money from me. However, I think you should give more instructive videos versus talking, just my opinion, thanks.
Thanks man! Just going with the flow but appreciate the advice 🙏
